Unlike a lot of [Sourcegame But Hard] mods this surprisingly gives the impression of more of a Kaizo sort of thing, like it's very deliberately designed to be extremely possible, just sort of insane on first impression. Stuff like the barnacle grabbing the energy ball, the rockets breaking the glass in the levels secretly giving you an easier time actually solving the puzzles, stuff like that. Genuinely sort of interesting to see Actual Thought put into penis torture mod.
Favorite example is probably at 8:47 where instead of doing that shit on the previous levels they wait just so you fall into that routine and then just pants you with "Hello, this time one of the rocket turrets is in the spot you're usually safe in."

@@SunTzuSaidFight The moment I saw the HEV suit regenerates Health is when I realized the developers are taking subtle steps to not make players rage too much to the point of quitting.
@@DawnAfternoon I think that's just a visual representation of how health in Portal works. You can only die to turrets if you don't get time for your health to regenerate.

I honestly expected the end sequence to go off as in the real game, only there's a rocket turret in the parking lot and it kills you.

This looks like an alternate universe where combine were able to infiltrate aperture and Glados decided to put "some" defences. You were just unfortunate enough to end up in a crossfire
The Combine probably DID infiltrate Aperture in the main universe, GLaDOS mentions how she is the only thing that can stop them from taking over the facility, although not directly by name
But if GLaDOS is controlling the turrets(watch the portal 2 ending), why is she shooting a unarmed "normal" person in the facility?(and no, I will not say that having the portal gun makes her armed)

For all his goofiness, Jolly is REALLY GOOD at this stuff. Because this mod is ridiculously hard, Jolly's just so good at maintaining his inept persona it just looks like he's magically bumbling his way through when he's actually doing Matrix level stuff the whole way ...oh god, Jolly's the Jackie Chan of Half-Life streamers

There is something unfathomably hilarious about Jolly saying "We're Safe!" half a second before he launches a couple dozen manhacks into his face.
The crate full of manhacks was probably the hardest I've laughed at any of your videos ever. After all these years, Source modders can still come up with new, brilliant gags, and for that, every part of me except my lungs is thankful.
With the way supply crates work in Hammer you can load a fuck ton of anything you want into those crates. If the devs wished they probably could have put rocket turrets in there.

Not sure how effective that amalgamation of rocket turrets would be, if they would even start enabled at all.
@@TinyDeskEngineer I believe the rocket turrets have a spawn flag to be disabled and there’s an event that enables them. A lot of npcs just do weird stuff when they spawn out of a box though, I tried this with a bunch of combine and they all spawned leaning at a random angle except for one. I think with the way the rocket turrets function they would be fine from being at a weird angle though.
In all likelihood the combine spawning at an angle thing is prob a result of how item spawning works. This is only a educated guess but what likely happens is that as the crate breaks, the items are given a random rotation and velocity, to both prevent issues of props potentially getting stuck together and to make it feel more “natural” to the player. Given that you can’t really give physics velocity to npc_combine_s, it nearly rotates them in the same manner as any other item.
Note: Manhacks DO react to physical velocity (that’s how they can realistically bounce off surfaces and each other, and are sent flying back when hit with the crowbar)

Jolly has been subjected to some of the hardest source mods I've ever seen. I'm sure he sees the HEV suit HUD in his dreams.
I actually love how they made all the glass breakable & that changes how you can route some of the tests & sequence break.

I am imagining this mod shipped alongside vanilla portal, and every player just had a super slim chance of getting this experience instead of the actual game.
This mod is a great way for the creator to effectively say “GladOS you weren’t trying hard enough”

My confusion was in reference to "make the portals perpendicular to the wall" which didn't make sense to me.
However I found it funny so I didn't add context.

14:40 - 15:03 was the most jolly clip ever, doing an insane thing that even i wouldn't think i would be able to do atm (would probably die in those rockets and cry in the corner) and after that comforting himself that everything is alright and the moment the door opened you already knew it wasn't. the comedic timing, the play and the execution was the perfect jolly clip.

I must have quick saved and quick loaded 100’s of times when I played this mod, it’s too hectic.
I consider myself a portal fanatic but there is no way in HELL I could get through this mod so honestly the largest of props to Jolly for getting through that with any amount of sanity intact. I would have cried.
Having to exploit a glitch to get through the chamber reminds me of when I played Portal: Prelude and they were also expecting you to exploit obscure physics engine bugs to get through. There was some jump you had to make in like the 3rd chamber that required you to crouch as you go through a portal to launch yourself even further.
You got the HEV suit because you need the suit to be able to switch weapons. The hands seen when the suit is first equipped were not textured because the textures for that model are missing from the files of Portal despite most of the original Half Life 2 assets still being there.
the hand texture was custom made for Portal, those are chell’s hands model. The texture IS in the console releases if i remember correctly

I investigated the mod's files: turns out that the developer _intentionally_ set the texture path as invalid so it wouldn't show up via a VMT file, as it's normally included by default with Portal.
Happy to see someone finally made Portal into a real video game.
I'm hoping for Jolly to play the second campaign of Portal Epic Edition (PEE) called Cognitive Breakdown Tests (CBT). It has more elaborate and (kinda) fun levels rather than just "spamming the rocket turret everywhere" type of stuff.
I can really appreciate that your audio is decently balanced. I don't mind screaming and yelling in videos, but when the person who uploads it can't even be fucked to make sure it's not shattering people's eardrums, they suck.

did the shotgun not work on glados? If so, couldn't he just remove all the spheres before starting the fight?
If you play the mod, it has you walk through one of the weapon confiscators from hl2 before you do the fight, leaving you with nothing but the portal gun and the gravity gun.
It was a very clever way to do it.
@@icemasterpro Funnily enough, even if you cheat (via either sv_cheats or glitches) and keep your weapons, you'll find out that only explosives work on GLaDOS, with bullets doing nothing.
The reason why explosives still knock off cores is almost certainly due to the Rocket Turrets.
And with that first room, I have now seen more Rocket Turrets than I did in Base game.
