    Saw him perform this number in 1974 at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. What an awesome performer! Loved his music. Never tire of Freddie King. Wish he was still with us.

      Albert king has a laid back style (The Velvet Bulldozer), Freddie is straight funk/boogie (The Texas Cannonball), BB is understated riffs with powerful vocals.

      I always say it like this: Freddie is the king of Boogieblues, Albert is the king of Traditional Blues, and BB is the king of contempoary blues

      I’m not sure if you knew this but Dusty Hill the bassist for ZZ Top played with Freddy King for a little bit in the early 70’s

    Freddie King.....Lord Have Mercy, the influences that came from this Man. He laid out a platform of Gold that goes straight to many'a Mens and Womens souls good enough to inspire greatness. He didn't die early.... he was just another first to show everybody what it takes to be an Angel of the Blues.

    I wanna add 31 extra likes. The performance of this number on the old Rockschool series was the first time I'd heard it. Freddie is a bad, bad man. He squeezes juice outta that Gibson. He's TOTALLY underrated.

    The Cannonball alive and kicking! This is how you perform a boogie. Live at the Vondelpark open air stage, the day after his gig at the Paradiso, Amsterdam. My first blues concert ever and you reckon the house was rocking. RIP Freddie, a great inspiration to so many. (thank you so much for posting)

    The most underrated of the 3 KINGs....Freddy was a bad man with that ax slung across his shoulder..he could knock you down like a cannonball or play notes soft and sweet as honey, and this performance is one of the best ive seen, he must have completely blown those Swedes minds that night

    Freddie grooves like a mo'fo'. Man, the attack he gets on the notes, the way he shakes the whole damn guitar with his vibrato, and check the series of bends he does at about 3.35 minutes in. Damn!

    This whole show is one of the best sounding of Freddie's band live, I've heard.
    The interplay between Freddie and Hammond B-3 artist, Deacon Jones is simply Brilliant!
    I had a blast working with Deac' in the mid-80s if the SF Bay Area, while he was in John Lee Hooker's 'Coast To Coast Blues Band'.

      Davie, did you ever play Jack's with Deacon? I worked there and would get up on his(Deacon's) stage often. Deac, was real good to me.

    Been listening to FK for the first time this week and what really struck me is he is where Clapton also got his singing style. Clapton's voice sounds exactly like FK.

    one of the greats who had to stand in the shadow of hendrix, clapton, jimmy page, duane allman, and a few other during the classic rock era. This is what we called boogie rock in the early 70's Clapton did a tribute to Freedie King in 1994. Hendrix liked him a lot.

      People always forget about Earl mostly because his contributions aren't seen as important as the other 3 (without taking anything away from him as he was great) but Albert, Freddie and B.B literally shaped the future of blues from the 60s to now and will continue to do so for some time. SRV had really big bends like Albert, Clapton has a sharp attack similar to that of Freddie (can't match Freddie he was just one of a kind) and B.B.'s influence doesn't even need to be stated lol

    Wow!! I started buying his CD's about 10 years ago, but it wasn't until I started SEEING him play the guitar last year on different You Tube videos that I really appreciated how great a guitar player he was. And just when I think I can't be more impressed with his guitar playing, I see this blistering performance. I would have loved to have seen Freddie trade licks with another blues guitar legend, Stevie Ray Vaughan. That would have been earth shattering.

    This Just Rocks. I like the tone he's getting. The energy is high. Reminds me of a live recording of AC/DC. One of the Young bro's were out of tune but the song just kept going and the energy kept an even pace.

    For those chatting about the amp, I think the main thing with Freddie's sound always was his attack, in other words his unique picking style, think he would have sounded like freddie King with any guitar/amp combo

    I had the pleasure of working with Deacon Jones (seen and heard here, on the Hammond B-3), during the late '80s in the SF Bay area. Man...Nothing compares with the feeling of that Leslie cab, kicking it, on stage. To me, this is some of the best concert footage, that illustrates that Freddie King and Deacon were four hands, of the same musical brain.
