One of my most favourite movie growing up in Hong Kong during the 1960's.When I went to Britain later I came across the descendent of one of the character in the movie who fought and die in real history.
"AT100 YARDS!!!!!! Fire!........on the ZULU front... "USUTHU!" Inthe movie Zulu Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi portrayed King Cetswayo. In contemporary times this ZULU worlds statesman who twice visited the White House under President Reagan, wrote his published manifesto, "USUTHU: CRY PEACE! " We be be pen pals...
Actually they invaded from the north over a century after Dutch Boers had settled there. In fact there was nobody living there when the Dutch arrived. A very few family units of Hottentots might have lived there but hunting and gathering on those grasslands supported very few people. The Dutch however were farmers and the later Zulus kept grazing cattle.@@warrenblum3104
Chard the engineer. He just came to build a bridge. But he sure got more than he ever bargained for. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more!
Excellent! Thanks for posting. One of John Barry's top 10-15 film scores!
Richard Burton’s monologue at the beginning of Zulu set the stage for this gripping historical event!
If you actually study Isandlwana in detail, it's fascinating.
brilliant film showing heroism on both sides.
Simply awsome. The master hand of john Barry.
Such a great film & soundtrack, thank you 😁
Epic clash of empires.
Chard's tactics were brilliant.
