Ennio's last tour was spring-early summer 2019. He said it would be his last. I believed him, so I coaxed my my wife, who had terminal cancer, into flying from Chicago to see him on his very last concert, on June 29, in Lucca (her payoff was a trip three days later to Opera Verona; another wonderment). On a sweltering night, 40,000 of us jammed into the outdoors Walls of Lucca and listened to the magic he coaxed from an orchestra of 100, a choir of 200. My wife had many good days before she died, on April 3, 2020. That night in Lucca was one of the best. Thank you, Ennio. Your music lifted her spirits, mightily. It lifts everyone's spirits.
I discovered ennio late in 2012, though i always loved the music from Good , Bad and Ugly and alll the westerns from the 80s for me. Then when i did discover ennnio i have had been trying for 6 years to attend his concerts... i knew he was not going to have any more shows .. after 2018, but was surprised he did, but i couldnt make it... its really great that you got your wife to see him and listen to his music... his music is a balm , a blessed wine, a life nourishing water and more. Siento una admiración especial por el autor de la misión , de Malena , de Cinema Paradisso , del grito del viento , de Chimai y de cientos de temas que no me cansaría de nombrar y de escuchar . Morricone al igual que un servidor fue un gran amante del ajedrez , es otra de las cosas , de las grandes cosas que me identifican con el . Hoy que ese romano ilustre , que envíó al cielo sus mejores acordes y que su inolvidable música se esparce por las praderas del oeste , lo escucho nuevamente , y lo recuerdo con esa admiración que empezó aquel día de 1983 y que nunca morirá . Me paso lo mismo que a usted, solo que yo lo descubrí a Ennio Morricone sola, en mi casa no se escuchaba esta música, a mi me gusto ya que la escuchaba en radio, siempre me ha gustado la música de peliculas, Leonard Cohen, Henry Mancini. Percy Faith, Paul Muriat, el Mexicano-Argentino Bebu Silveti, Francis Lay, etc. son tantos, estas melodías te transportan. que maravilla de música.

I was fortunate enough to sing on the soundtrack for "Mission to Mars". The maestro conducted the recording session. During a break I approached him to thank him for his music, particularly "The Mission". His English was very limited (and my Italian is near non-existent), yet he understood the sense of my words. Closing his eyes he crossed his right hand over his chest and lowered his head in that characteristic way Italians have of acknowledging a compliment. Lovely chap.

When you hear all of this great music together, it makes it even sadder than Ennio is gone, and he cannot be replaced, as he outshined every other modern film composer, due to his quality and variety. John Williams has his style, but it's that one style. Ennio could compose music for any type of film and make you believe the music. He's immortal, like Mozart and Beethoven before him.
I agree very much with what you've said, Gringo, and I feel very sad that Ennio Morricone is gone. He deserved a place in Heaven and it soothes my sense of loss knowing that he his there!
Thank God for a man who used all the talents he was blessed with. To those have have, more will be given....and he was rewarded with so much inorder to give joy to millions.
No one can forget the horrors of the twentieth century and the beginning of this one, but Ennio’s music is a balm that soothes the ragged edges of our tattered humanity.
I agree Stephen... I listened to him all the time when I was recovering from a serious illness in Sep 2021...... His music lifted my heart and Soul.... So much I cried.. But it was so therapeutic... I needed to let go.... And make the mest of my second chance at life... So Grateful to GOD... Each day.. 🙏

Un grand compositeur. J'ai découvert sa musique en 1964 dans un cinéma de Tunis qui projetait "Pour une poignée de dollars", première réalisation de son compagnon de route Sergio Leone, qui nous a gratifiés d'une belle série de films western. L'aura de Morricone commence avec la bande originale du troisième film "Le bon, la brute et le truand" qui est devenue un tube mondial. La suite, on la connait. Salut l'artiste ! Repose en paix.

I was fortunate enough to sing on the soundtrack for "Mission to Mars". The maestro conducted the recording session. During a break I approached him to thank him for his music, particularly "The Mission". His English was very limited (and my Italian is near non-existent), yet he understood the sense of my words. Closing his eyes he crossed his right hand over his chest and lowered his head in that characteristic way Italians have of acknowledging a compliment. Lovely chap.

When you hear all of this great music together, it makes it even sadder than Ennio is gone, and he cannot be replaced, as he outshined every other modern film composer, due to his quality and variety. John Williams has his style, but it's that one style. Ennio could compose music for any type of film and make you believe the music. He's immortal, like Mozart and Beethoven before him.

Un grand compositeur. J'ai découvert sa musique en 1964 dans un cinéma de Tunis qui projetait "Pour une poignée de dollars", première réalisation de son compagnon de route Sergio Leone, qui nous a gratifiés d'une belle série de films western. L'aura de Morricone commence avec la bande originale du troisième film "Le bon, la brute et le truand" qui est devenue un tube mondial. La suite, on la connait. Salut l'artiste ! Repose en paix.

I did not know of him, nor his genius. Thanks to You Tube's 'Autoplay' function, and selections....I clicked on this, having listened to something else which I had searched. Yes, Gold.....
