  • Hi everyone, I’m new into the adult biking world, where I ended up picking up a specialized sirrus x 2.0. I haven’t seen any reviews on the bike so I thought I’d make a quick overview and discuss some thoughts and specs! If you have questions about the bike, please comment them below!!

    Thanks! Wish I could afford/justify the 4.0... but I’m also a casual rider. The 3.0 is also about 3lbs lighter. I, like you, would need to ride both to see the difference, but it’s nice to hear that you tried the 3.0 and found the differences to be too minor.

    I'm 180 cm with 83 cm inseam and I have a L Sirrus x 2.0 (black), I think is the right size for me but I can also have a fun ride with the M. If you have a similar size and like to have the saddle higher than the handlebars you can use the M; my saddle and my handlebars are less or more at the same height. I'm not sure but I think that it wuold have the 170 cm crank to be perfect for my size (it has 175 cm crank), but is only a supposition.
    In a flat paved road I normally use the 15t sproket (so 40-15), on a flat gravel road I use the 15t or the 18t, the other gears I use for speed (12t) and for uphill (21-24-28-34-42t).
    I love my simple but of character bike, especially for my taste in totally black.
    Hope this help, cheers from Italy.

    Thank you for the overview and a follow-up update. I was originally thinking of purchasing Specialized Sirrus 1.0 or 2.0 (for the disk brakes). Now I am leaning towards Sirrus X 2.0 because it has disk brakes and it also can be used on multiple surfaces. My question is - it has 42mm tires that look wider than the road bike ones and would that have an impact on riding experience (slowness) considerably? Also having a 1*8 gear system (I don't know if I am explaining this correctly) bad compared to 2*8? Sorry if I am not clear on this as I am a novice to these terms. Thank you.

    • @AliuBikes
      @AliuBikes  4 года назад +2

      Hi, sorry for a late response, but yes wider tires does not move as quickly as thinner tires, but in this case it will feel more comfortable and if you ever need to go on gravel youre set. Its not a big difference, but after a longer ride you'll be behind. Having a 1x drivetrain is by no means bad at all compared to 2x, having the 2x will allow you go up hills a lot easier and having a closer gear ratio (you have more options to pick the right gear), while the 1x gives you less gear ratios, it does an easier job of allowing you to figure out the right gear to be in vs constantly having to shift with the 2x. Its all personal preference. I do recommend hydraulic brakes as it has more stopping power with less effort and less maintenance, while the 1.0 I think uses a rim brake.

    I bought the 5.0 one month ago and I love it, zero regrets except for the price ...
    Bike is fast and reliable, the higher you go from 2.0 to 5.0, you get more carbon light parts and higher class shifters (5.0 has shimano SLX).
    Future shock technology only with 4.0 and 5.0 models.
    I love the fact that it can go fast on road and I can also drive on rugged trains and sidewalks and I also like flat bars.
    The 5.0 weighs approx 9.7 kg or 21.5 pounds.

    • @AliuBikes
      @AliuBikes  4 года назад +1

      congrats on the pickup! Specialized does tend to price a bit on the higher end, but sometimes it is worth it and with the X line they definitely nailed it. Thats very light for the 5.0, those extra 4-5 pounds off from the 2.0 can make a huge difference. I'm sure you can go a bit faster than me, but this bike does a good job on the road.

      @mrgeorge118 If you are able to test ride both, then you'll get a better feel. I personally like 1x drivetrains as its simple and it gets the job done. Also the wider tires means I can go off road more, being a bit more comfy. If you feel like you need the extra speed, then go 2.0 if you dont and want a bit more simplicity and possibly a bit more comfort go with the X. Its honestly a very close comparison, just depends on your wants/needs. You won't regret either one!

    Thanks for the review! Do you think the ride on the X 2.0 would feel any different from the 2.0? Would it be more strenuous because of the larger wheel width or do you think it’s negligible?

    • @AliuBikes
      @AliuBikes  3 года назад

      I dont think it will be too much of a difference maybe depending the type of terrain you'll be riding on. If you are going over more gravel, rougher roads the X will be a bit smoother. But rolling wise (on normal roads) the 2.0 would be better. If I had to pick id go for X since they're the same price (if im not mistaken) and im a big fan of 1x. Hope this answers your question!

    Great video, thank you, just bought this bike after watching. Quick question - you mention the possibility of raising the handlebars. Do you know how the shop would do that? Would they just add an extender or is the process more complicated than that?

    • @AliuBikes
      @AliuBikes  3 года назад +1

      there are two ways to increase the height/angle and the first is the headset spacers, you can add or remove spacers as they fit to increase the height, the second thing is the stem, you can get a shorter/longer stem with different angles. If the bike feels more forward, its something you'll kinda have to get used to, as its a fitness bike aka an endurance/road feel with flat handlebars, but has a bit more comfort like a hybrid bike. For the headset spacers and stem, your local shop can definitely help you and offer you some options that may help!

    • @harr6w
      @harr6w 3 года назад

      @@AliuBikes thanks so much for the prompt reply! I’ve been looking at the handlebar stem connection and there don’t appear to be any spacers or any room for spacers. I had to drive 3 hours to the closest bike shop that had the bike in stock so can’t easily go back. I’m thinking of adding a stem extender to bring the handlebars up about 2” just never done anything like that before. Doesn’t seem too difficult on videos I’ve watched. Local bike shops are 2+ weeks out for any repairs. Do you know if it’s a 1 1/8” stem and can be easily done? I’d like to know it can easily be done before I start taking it apart.

    Thanks for the review, much appreciated. I've been looking all over for information about this bike, and it's hard to find. I had originally been looking to get the Sirrus 2.0 but then the X series seemed to be better for off-road. I'm a bit unsure about switching to 1X gearing, especially for hills and such. I've always had bikes with 24 or 27 gear positions. How does it feel not having a front derailleur? Is it easy to get used to?

    • @AliuBikes
      @AliuBikes  4 года назад

      of course! wanted to get some information out to people. The bike will definitely be more off road/gravel oriented vs. the 2.0 due to the wider tires. Whenever I ride a bike that had more than 1 gear in the front derailleur I never actually swapped them, only the rear. So this felt perfect for me. I also grew up mainly riding bmx bikes, so single speed was always my thing. It's honestly very easy to work with a 1x drivetrain because all you need to do is switch gears based on the elevation you're riding. Hills are no problem for me, even for someone who hasn't really rode bikes and has a weaker knee due to a torn ACL not too long ago. Its a very nice bike and hope you do decide to get one!

      @AliuBikes  4 года назад +2

      So I was in a similar boat as you are looking for a bike. If you have $1250 to spend on a 4.0 you’re getting a very very good bike. But the thing is are you planning on going on a bunch of gravel roads, need the extra gears, etc. While the 2.0 and 3.0 are pretty close, the only difference are the 1 extra gear, brakes, and fork (steel vs aluminum). From what I was told based on forums and such, the 3.0 is a good bike, but if you don’t care for slightly better brakes and maybe 0.5 pounds lighter then go with the 2.0
