    Thanks barry your video helped me out alot i went with the redshift seatpost, i changed the crankset to a grx810 with a wolf tooth oval chainring 46T with one component pedals, i changed the stem to a shorter 70mm sworks, a bontrager aelous elite saddle i changed the tires to roubaix pro 2 bliss 700x30/32 and change the cassette to 11-28 gs 8000 ultegra quite a bit of difference in speed and take off overall i spent around 500 bucks because i know someone at the shop so for me it was well worth it and im very happy with the bike as it sits thanks for your help with the videos!

    I also have a 2019 XSirrus XComp. I have put 7,000 miles on the bike since 2019. I also added bar ends, a Cgr - Carbon seat post and pathfinder tires. The other change I mades was to change the front chain ring to a 40T. This was a great improvement. It seemed to wake up the bike. The bike climbs hills easier and is easier to maintain speed because of the higher RPM. This is a great bike. I appreciate your video. Great Bike.

      You’re welcome - I was considering the same / similar chainring change - I always find I’d prefer to get more from the higher gears - I’m far less bothered about how fast I can go, more about how much I can climb.

Pretty much exactly the same accessories apart from the expensive seat post that i used on my GT Avalanche Expert MTB, I have got fed up with slowing to a virtual stop on the hills due to the bike weight, just sold it and saving for the Sirrus X Carbon comp as they do it in XXL. If you watch my new video (this Friday 1pm UK) , I ended up in a forest mountain biking on the Sirrus X and I can tell you it doesn't work! I also tried out a really nice quality Trek over the weekend and it felt very different - not in a bad way, but I am certain it would take a lot of getting used to... I think you will really love the mix of lightweight riding and variety / accessibility the Sirrus offers. I am seriously enjoying riding for the first time in my almost 50years!

      You are most welcome - new video about the seatpost / stem in the making - I have to say (but please appreciate my knowledge of other bikes / gravel bike is minimal as I am new to all this) that I find the experience on gravel and tracks to be really enjoyable, even more so since the seatpost was installed. The width of the tyres has a lot to do with it, and I feel the ones that ship with the bike (Trigger 700x38c) are really good for all rides, urban and countryside. Again, I dont have anything to compare this with so please forgive me.

    Barry, I just picked up a Sirrus X 5.0 and love it. Thanks for the vids. After a few rides I know I want to add some bar ends. However, the Specialized Neutralizer Grips on my bike are a single piece of molded rubber. It looks like your bike might have the same grips.? Did you have to cut the grips in order to install the S Works Bar Ends? Just curious to see if I need to buy new grips too. Thanks again!

    • @8bitBarry1
      @8bitBarry1  4 года назад

      I didn't actually fit them as I got them added when the faulty free hub was changed. I have just watched back my first video before they were fitted and I believe I can say yes the ends have been precision cut and the bar end fitted, so it is flush. It's a tidy job. I am uncertain if the grips have been moved slightly inwards towards the stem, but everything fits tight without bunching.
      I hope that helps.

    I think “fitness bikes “ like the X & trek FX carbon. Make better gravel bikes than “ gravel “ bikes … I hate drop bar when it gets rugged - the X can take 47 cm tires. I sold my Stigmata for this exact bike $2k less and the X is a better bike - it just is .

    Hi barry question so i have one just got it and i did make some changes redshift seatpost. One up platform pedals and im considering changing out the tires because here in florida not many hills or real gravel roads have you ever considered changing into perhaps a roubaix 2 bliss tire or a slicker tire? Just wondering if its a good idea... thanks in advance

    • @8bitBarry1
      @8bitBarry1  4 года назад +1

      angel ortiz i’ve put a couple of thousand miles onto the tyres since I bought it, but they’re still not quiet at the stage of renewing them. I do find that I appreciate the tread of the Trigger tyres that came with the bike, as a lot of the surfaces I ride are a mix of tracks and cycle paths, as well as roads, so I think they suit me perfectly well. I’ll need a new set this year for sure and I would recommend them at £40 a tyre. If your riding is purely urban then yes I think you could get some slimmer / lighter tread tyres like Specialized Roubaix - saying that, considering the detritus on the roads these days, broken glass etc, and it could be a recipe for punctures... worth considering. My only puncture last year was a wooden stick I got from riding a road where trees had been cut down... Anyway some food for thought. Hope that helps.

    I live in hilly Swansea - VERY hilly Swansea. Plenty of 10% plus gradients and some nearer 20%. Crazy amount of hills.
    How do you find your bike for getting up hills?
    I have been loathe to move to a single cog in front as the small granny ring of a triple has often been the only way I can get up hills. Does that big cog - 42 IIRC - on the rear make hill-climbing easy?
    Never got on myself with Specialized saddles and pedals. I find it shocking that these firms sell such poor saddles and peddles with new bikes. But that suspension posts looks amazing. Expensive but no doubt worth it.

    • @8bitBarry1
      @8bitBarry1  4 года назад +1

      Hi there JC - I don't think I have the same level of inclines as you do - yes there are steep hills here being the Devon countryside, but I have to say yes it does make any ascents I make relatively easy. I have reached some super steep but short hills and found myself standing up in 1st gear to make it! It's literally walking speed.... I think the ratio is 1 pedal turn to 1 revolution of the wheel in 1st gear. I do think it can deliver, but it wont be the same as a very small chainring that you may require if this is a constant issue. I have an old Orange mountain bike and first gear on the smallest chainring gives a higher gear. I think you need to try the Sirrus X 5.0 out when you can - I totally agree about the stock pedals, that was the first thing I changed as I could see immediately that they were totally inadequate.

    Did you notice any handling difference with the redshift post in terms of weight added and how does it feel on the hill climb if sitted

    • @8bitBarry1
      @8bitBarry1  4 года назад +1

      I have the post set to maximum stiffness, as I am 15st / 95kg - the seat doesn't bounce when I am sat putting the power on to climb up hills. It only compacts when I ride over rough ground or hit a road grate etc. You need to work this out for your weight and ride, but its easy to do - it takes a little time to set the post up properly but it is so worth it. Others prefer to float, but I like it to remain stiff unless I impact / hit rough ground. It is a little heavier, you can just about feel it when you lift the bike up, but I wouldn't trade the extra weight for the smooth ride it gives me!
