    Love mine! I was going to go for a hybrid electric now that I'm 66 years young but happily went for the X4 instead. Great decision as I can extend the ride on this bike, even at my age. Highly recommended.

    I bought the 4.0 in dark blue about three weeks ago down in La Jolla. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this bike. So fun and fast. I have a short commute to work every day (12 miles round trip) and I look forward to riding into work everyday. I also live a short ways from Signal Hill, and I'll climb the hill 4 or 5 times on the weekend for a great workout. It handles hills with ease. $1300 well spent.

    • @yasukats

      @@humbertofernandez2536 It's up to what you want. I'm still extremely satisfied with my X4.0 while there are many other good choices. My only suggestion would be any bike equipped with Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, as it really makes difference and it would be costly if you want to upgrade it later.

      We have found a few crank bolts that want to Work their way loose. We've had to replace one crank already but now make sure that after the initial break in we get the bikes back in and retorque everything. Seems to be a common problem and I'm not sure of the solution yet other than torquing it down to manufacturers specifications a second time This has seemed to cure the problem for now We haven't seen one come back in twice. Anyway if you find something out please let us know we'd love to keep in the loop. Thank you for your comment

Specialized "cheaped" out on the stock bolts ... i believe the stock bolts stretch and bend which is why they coming off.. they are not stiff like a standard M8 hex bolt suppose to be .. achilles heel of this great bike :( ... i am BULLET PROOF now with the new bolts.. btw the package of my bolts say M5 .08 x 22, the SKU is the same on the website link though

    Following the crankshaft recall notice on Sirrus 3,4,5 incl X models I took my X3.0 to my authorised Specialized dealer in London (UK). They fixed the crank issue within half hour. No charge. Don't believe any new parts were required. Just some checks on internal spacing and tightening of bolts to manufacture spec. Very happy to get back on this awesome bike. Will hit the trails again since it rides beautifully and handles superbly. Will update if any issues arise.

    Important Safety Notification 27 June 2020 Specialized have finally released safety recall notice for all Sirrus 3,4,5 incl X models. Please check their website. Ensure you follow instructions to cease riding these models immediately and return it to your nearest Specialized dealer for fix. Issue relates to widely reported left crank arm / pedal coming off mid ride. Over 30 negative feedbacks on Specialized website. Glad they’ve belatedly acknowledged this as an urgent safety issue. Been monitoring this issue here in U.K. since May 2020. I’ve just taken delivery of Sirrus X 3.0 which is an awesome bike but now need to return for fix. Not pleased.

    How do you feel comparing this bike to the X 3.0? The extra tech is really impressive (Shimano, carbon fork, future shock, upgraded saddle) and seems like it’s worth more than the $400 difference- but is $1250 too much for an entry-level hybrid bike? Is your novice rider better learning to live with the X 3.0 and saving the $400 to put towards a road bike/proper MTB?

    • @beasz1974
      @beasz1974 4 года назад +5

      I had a X 3.0 , an 2.0, and finally the X 4.0 .. I feel the X 3.0 was the worst value, imo, of the three I experienced. I would buy a X 2.0 , even with the more weight over the X 3.0.. I feel the X 4.0 is a better value. I found out that it has center lock disk as well. If you can afford it, it is worth the 400 more. To me the X 3.0 is just a X 2.0 with an aluminum fork and Microshift components.
      I would buy the X 2.0 even if had the $900, or save to get the X 4.0

    Good practical review.
    One thing that puts me off a single front chainwheel is how good they will be on STEEP hills. I live in a place where the 'granny wheel' is all important as the hills are so steep and numerous. Still not convinced that a single chainwheel cog in front and a 36 or 42 sprocket cog on the rear will get me up the hills.
    I notice with a lot of Specialized PR videos that they show their bikes being ridden along the flats or occasional inclines. I can't afford to buy a bike like this only to learn it is hopeless on the steep stuff.
    Off to look at some of your other reviews.

With a 700c wheel you might have to be a little bit careful in the gnarly situations but for light trail and bike packing I think you'd be fine

      We put a a gravel king 42 in there and it fit with plenty of room. I'll keep pushing the size up and see where it limits out at but with a 42 the bike rides really nice!

    • @TheBicycleRider

      Basic difference is tire clearance and a carbon fiber front fork. For a very versatile bike the X-Series gives you a lot room for a lot bigger tire clearance. This is better for all around versatility

    How would this compare to the Specialized diverge e5 base model? Sort of torn between the two. Seems like they’re both pretty versatile. I’m new to riding and have no riding preference but would like to get into both road and off road riding. Thanks!

    • @TheBicycleRider

      Wow great question! Both bikes are excellent in their own right and really very comparable. I am impressed with both the SirrusX and the diverge. The Cyrus x does have a really nice fork and the diverge is just a performer and its own right. I love both bikes and would have to say I would prefer the diverge in a gravel situation or an all road situation because I can get in the drop bars for aerodynamic position. I love the Cyrus x zipping through town because it puts me in a position of aggressive seeing what's in front of me with a flat bars It is so fun to throw that bike around in an urban situation. Hope this helps and I'll do a side-by-side comparison in the future but this one is really hard cuz they're both excellent bikes

    Hi! Thank you for the videos. I have watched most of your videos. I’m going to start riding bicycle again and I want a really versatile and comfortable riding bike that I can do a lot of riding styles and last a few years. I’m gonna be riding in the city (roads here are torn with uneven surfaces/lot of pot holes) and light trails/gravel paths. I love the versatility of the sirrus X 4.0 and future shock seems really nice. I watched a few of your videos on the Marin Four Corners and it also seems like pretty versatile and comfortable bike for commute in the city and some gravel paths. I’m really starting to like the Four Cornes, but for the money its seems the SirrusX 4.0 offer better components. For a beginner rider who wants a versatile bike which one would you recommend?

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад +2

      Wow that's a good question. The four corners versus the Sirtud x 4.0. they are both versatile bikes but almost in two different categories. The four corners would definitely be better for long rides or to pack out with. With the drop bars and the geometry it is very comfortable on the long haul , now the 4.0 is a fantastic bike in its own category it is very versatile and the future shock is absolutely awesome the flat bars do limit the amount of time you can spend on thid comfortably for most people. I guess it all depends on the needs of the rider and the specific uses you'll be putting this bike through both are awesome bikes! I'm a big fan of the four corners for the long haul but the new x is really starting to surprise me of just how good and versatile this bike is I will keep pushing the one I'm riding to the max and keep you all informed Good luck with your choice it's not going to be an easy one both bikes are awesome

    I'm in the market for a bike mainly for urban riding. Looking at the Sirrus 4 and Sirrus x 4.0. Which would you recommend?

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад +2

      If you are alway riding on a hard surface, the Sirrus 4.0 is a great bike. If you ever ride on gravel, or if your local roads have a lot of construction, or maybe you sometimes find sand on your roads, the larger tires on the Sirrus X 4.0 would be better. We are located near the beach, and a strong windy day can blow sand from the beach across our roads. So the best choose depends mostly on where you will be riding.

    What are the major differences between this and the non x version?

    • @stevenmoralesrivera9974
      @stevenmoralesrivera9974 4 года назад +1

      -Aluminum frame on the X version vs carbon fiber
      -Future shock on the X vs no future shock.
      -1x front chain gearing on the X vs 2x.
      -10 speed cassette (X) vs 9 speed.
      -38 mm tires on the X vs 32 mm.
      -Shimano (X) vs Tektro hydraulic brakes.
      I think those are the main differences. The X model is equipped to be more all-around bike (urban/road, grass, gravel, trail) vs the non X is more gear to urban/road (fastest).

      I have had my Sirrus X3.0 since June2020 and can highly recommend it. The ride is awesome on and off road given the slightly thicker tyres, lightweight design, single drive and excellent geometry. It’s fast nimble and handles bumpy terrain with ease. I often go out riding with friends that have mountain bikes with thicker tyres and front suspension and am more than able to keep up with them. Definitely a must buy.
