I bought the Sirrus X 3.0 (June 2020) during lockdown here in London U.K. after much searching due to low to nil stock. Retail £699. I then read about the crank recall. Luckily I had local Specialized dealer near me that resolved the issue in no time. I have since ridden approx 500km so far and have been blown away at how fast nimble agile and versatile this bike is. It has tackled everything I’ve thrown at it including some low level off road trails, gravel, dirt tracks, grass, canal tow paths. Each time I come away with a big smile on my face. I love the 42mm Pathfinder tyres, single front cog meaning no complicated gear changes, smooth disc brakes and lightweight design. I couldn’t justify the additional price for the X4.0 and am more than pleased with getting bang for my buck with the X 3.0. I would highly recommend the X 3.0 to anyone looking for a solid versatile hybrid bike. Also great review and very informative from technical viewpoint.
Do you still have the bike? I can't decide on which to buy... 2,3, or 4.
I picked up a X 5.0 last month, and I’m loving it. Great bike, I’m super happy with my purchase.
Same here, drove 5 hours to find it and it was definitely worth it. Super smooth ride.
Is it good quality carbon
Well, balanced review. Provided good information for the experienced and beginning rider. Found an x4.0 and will be test riding it this week.
This helped a lot! Thank you! :)
Nice to see a comparison video. This may help in my purchase decision.
So looks like the 2021 version of the 3.0 X gets the Deore 10 speed set instead of that older 9 plus a silver colour option.
Purchased the X5 in July, because they didn't have the X4 in stock and I am completely happy with the bike. It is very quick and lively and has handled all types of terrain. My understanding of why they went with the 38mm tires on the X4 and X5 was for speed/weight, having the Future -shock made the bike comfortable enough and so they didn't need the wider 42mm tires.

Great review, really useful. I have a 2021 Sirrus X 3.0 on order due soon.
I am interested in upgrading from my Specialized Roll to a more capable bike. Can you give any insight to the possibilities of ordering a specific bike and what the delivery turn around might be (I live in central CT)?
Why would they put a narrower tire on the X5 vs the other trims in the line-up? Is the X5 aimed more towards highway or street use? Are you still able to put the beefier tires on the X% Carbon frame or is it narrower than the aluminum framed bikes?
YOU ARE AMAZING THANK YOU FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE
Thanks for your support!
As I understand it the standard sirrus has thinner tyres and an extra 8 gears. Does the performance suffer on the x due to having less gears? Wondered if to just buy the standard sirrrus for the extra gears and swap the tyres
I found this bike at my local shop in a XL frame size really caught my eye unfortunately there asking $1470.00 which I think is a little high especially being a 2020 model The store was recently locally owned bit Treck bought it out so you would think they would cut me a deal idk 🤷🏽 any opinions
How does the Sirrus x3.0 & x4.0 compare with the Trek 3x & 4x 2020?
Looked for a non X version of any Specialized Sirius, but in XL size. Not one to be had in all of New Jersey USA. Gave up. Will wait for the 2021’s.
Truth brother they are nowhere to be found right now.
Trying to decide between the sirrus 3/4 and 3/4 x models. Any advice/suggestions? Thanks.
I don't suppose I'll be able to get one in the UK any time soon, but this video was perfect food for thought.
I ordered X4.0 at my bike shop. They told me to expect the bike between March and July.
@@carolnardini6947 Good thinking. I confess, the idea of ordering from a shop hadn't even occurred to me. Such is modern life.
Thanks for the review - it’s was very helpful!
Could you, please, provide a quick comparison with Sirrus .0 (4.0, 5,0, 6,0)? Is the only difference is the tires’ width and the system (2*11 vs 1*11) or it has a different geometry and/or some other differences? Thank you!
Different geometry mostly in head tube angle, seat tube angle, and chain stay length.
@@ChrisEnockson as a layman, what does the difference get you in terms of riding experience or capability? Is the price increase for x5.0 or x6.0 justified if money is no option over the x4.0?
Hİ,
thank you very much for your nice information , ı have a question , ı need a bike for riding in hills , when ı am with groups somewhere( Specially in hills) my performance is insufficient to fallow my friends , speed is ok but climbing is difficult to me by Trek FX 6 currently ,so ı need your help and recommendation to get a bike proper my needs ,what about Sirrus x4 ? or other brands
Honestly the bike isnt going to make a huge difference. I would spend some time researching gear ratios for bikes and make changes to your drivetrain to accommodate your terrain type and fitness level. I hope this helps.
Please do the same thing with the specialized Sirrus 2021s when you get a chance.
Would you pick one of these over the giant toughroads
Thank you for posting this information. I believe I am going with the x5. Do you know if this would be comfortable for ride 20 mile rides? Thanks.
Hi, just found this post…have had my X5 for 4 months now. 20 mi rides no problem. 30-40 miles no problem either! Love the versatility of gravel and street capability.
Thank you for your video. What’s the difference between the X5 and the regular 6?
Sirrus X has a more offroad frame geometry, different gearing, and larger tires. As for spec there are differences as well but this video is outdated because these are 2020 bikes so the specs are inaccurate.
Hi thank you for explanation about these bikes and i wounder how can i get the 5.0 coz in my country there is no dealer about this brand im from kuwait and if I would like to order it how can i ?
Sorry I can not help you on that one.
@@ChrisEnockson i mean if i want to order it from your shop how much it coast whit shipping it to kuwait .
I can not get them currently and I cannot ship overseas.
Wow prices jumped $200 across the Sirrus X line for 2021!
yeah, they call it 'inflation' or something...
i have a x 3.0 in silver flake. the problem with specialized is that most of their colors are ugly. the x 4.0 was only available in black and some kind of an ugly blue. no way i would buy a bike in such a color. therefore i took the x 3.0 in silver flake. merida hat one bike in a stunning sparkle green... much nicer, but sold out.
I am 5/10 will this bicycle fit me
Super helpful video. I looked at the Sirrus X 5.0 today and the Trek FX Sport 5. They are both carbon frames and have similar price points. Any thoughts on which bike is better? My main riding objective is to be able to ride around the city recreationally, join a few road rides with my road bike buddies and hit the occasional trail in the LA area (mostly sandy gravel). I'm leaning toward the Sirrus X 5.0 for two reasons: 1) It's available now and 2) the tires are a bit beefier than in the Trek FX Sport.
I'm bias so my opinion isnt the best but I love the Sirrus x.
I was in the same boat. Bought the Trek FX for my wife a few months ago because it was all we could find. I ordered a 2021 Sirrus X 5.0 with Future Shock and waited 3 months. It's a far more comfortable ride on the crappy roads. Almost a month in now, I absolutely love the bike and have made some pretty major upgrades....'cuz that's what we tend to do!
Update: I bought the Sirrus X 5.0 and so far I'm loving it. I like the future shock feature for bumpy rides.
@@the-edge-of-earth Awesome! I've got a few upgrades on mine and more coming. Video in case you're interested in the direction I went...

@@the-edge-of-earth I am about to pull the plug on the X5. Do you think this would be comfortable for 20 mile rides? Thanks! 🙂
I just got the 5.0 x on order is it worth the upgrade over the 4.0 for the extra $550
I think it is.
What’s the difference between the siruis x and the siruis ( not x)
Frame geometry, tire clearance, drivetrain gearing, and on some models suspention.
I am planning on doing linger runs ,what is the most comfortable, ultimately what is the best bike? Thanks appreciate your time
I dont know what Linger runs are but the difference is pretty much Sirrus is mostly for paved surfaces while Sirrus X is a little better for light off roading.
@@ChrisEnockson pretty sure they meant "longer runs" :)
Why there’s no mention of the 6.0?
This video covers Sirrus X which only goes to 5.0 the regular Sirrus goes to 6.0 and I have another video for that bike.
ruclips.net/video/vR9DcuWb6co/видео.html
Thanks so much! I’m looking at a Sirrus for my next bike but there are none to be had locally. Waiting for the next shipment to come in. Your video was a great overview of the different models while we all wait. Do you have any information about the Canadian made Opus bikes? Specifically the Orpheo and Citato?
I do not but can look into making a video about them.
Awesome video Chris, I wish you made this 3 months ago when I started my search for a fitness bike. I think there is another typo for the x 5.0 chainring, online bike shops are showing it as 42T instead of 32T.
Personally I can't decide between Sirrus 4.0 and X 4.0 - for $1250 I like the x4, just don't know if the 1x will be fast enough for the street if I commute. I'd consider putting on road tires, to help with resistance. Just so hard to test ride bikes right now cuz a lot of shops don't have them in the store long enough.
Can the crank set be upgraded on the x4? Sorry I'm a newbie and it's so confusing when it comes to group sets and all the options.
James, thanks for the awesome reply. I believe you are correct about the 5.0 chainring typo. Yes you can change the cranks out and add a front derailleur but it sounds like you are looking more for a Sirrus than a Sirrus X. You can make these changes but they will not be very cost effective.
Chris Enockson Too bad the Sirrus 4.0 doesn’t come with future shock, don’t get that unless u get 6.0, which looks to be a beast with everything you get but also comes at a cost.
I own a X 5.0 and just counted the teeth on my chain ring. It IS a 42 tooth.
@@dand2334 Do you feel the 42T 1x is enough for pavement riding? What color you get?
James Bray I can get mine up to 20 - 24 mph on pavement, that’s plenty fast for me. Mine is the blue/purple color
Prices have increased significantly. Sirrus 2.0 is $775 US. The 3.0 is $1100 😢
The 2.0 is back down to $650, and the 3.0 is $1k now. Thankfully, prices are finally coming back down to earth.
$699 for the 3.0 now but only the 2022 with 9 speed adventure components. Great bike but still $100 more than it should be with these components.
