FLOSSTUBEVERSITY - How to Bead a Mirabilia
Recently I have been building a playlist for those wanting to experience stitching a Mirabilia pattern but may have been intimidated by the process or perhaps an experienced stitcher who wants to learn some new tips and tricks. There are 2 main videos releasing May 01 and May 15 (in celebration of Miramay) which introduce the designer Nora Corbett and cover everything from how to choose your first pattern, considerations, floss organization and tips and tricks we have come across over the last 25 years. Additionally, there was a new release this week on How to Bead a Mirabilia and next week we will film How to Convert Mirabilia skin from 2x2 to 1x1

Oh yes! She has a bunch of cherubs too. Back in the 90s Nora’s mom used to make little free patterns for Xmas gifts for the stitchy community and at the same time Nora designed the little freebies :) Happy stitching this weekend!

Haha I can appreciate your feelings on the #8. I know Samantha said the same with her mermaid of pearls but at the end of the day she is happy she stuck with it bc the braid has such a presence in the piece. Happy stitching this weekend and good luck with the draw!

My first ever cross stitch was the Angel of WInter from L&L. Never done a Mirabilia yet. The mermaid is gorgeous.

Your Mira May videos with Sam gave me the courage to FINALLY start my very first Mira. Nora Corbett's patterns are one of the things that made me want to become a stitcher but I felt like I needed to get a few, less complicated things completed first.
I'm working on Mirabilia Ophelia, and I'm OBSESSED with it. It looks like it's stitched on the same green called for fabric as this mermaid, which I'd love to stitch one day

I’ve made that mistake more than once and ordered a second pattern🤪. I usually give them to my bff. I love all your Mira info, it has helped a lot since I am new to Mirabila patterns. I really enjoyed your video on beading. I had no idea that there are so many different ways to sew the beads on. I have learned a lot from your videos. Great video. I have had blackbeards princess kitted for ages. I am starting enchanted this weekend. I think she should have called this one the queen. I have had the same experience with #8 braid on the kiss. I decided to do #4 on the dress and such and used the #8 on the frame around. It gave it nice depth.

I am currently working on my first Mira, Cathedral Woods Goddess, and am a little nervous about beading, so your video was hugely helpful. Also loved the tip about pre washing and pre ironing your fabric. I have never thought to do that (only afterwards) and definitely will moving forward ☺️

Great flosstube….love the mermaid. I just did the exact 123 thing today. Ordered petal fairy then went to see what fabrics they had as I didn’t want the called for…..but something different, clicked away to PayPal and when I checked my order I’ll be getting two petal fairies!

My experience too with white and light yellow, even though I like it as a colour, is really not good. It's like they refuse to lay flat. Even when I "railroad" cross stitch, I mean using this method where you place your needle between the two threads when you are stitching, even then they refuse to lay totally flat! I guess the threads change depending on the colour they dye them or something! Like the black yarn feels always thinner etc. The Wichelt is stiffer than other linens but I think that is actually helping with the stitches to lay flat easier and, I assume because I haven't done it yet, the beading and they definitely look beautiful! Thanks for reading the Mirabella back round story! It's always nice to connect a myth/story with a design and the materials for your mermaid, (I know I am late for the giveaway but that's OK), look very, very pretty! Till your new video 🥰🧜♀🧵🪡
Oh you are not too late! Good luck in the draw :) I feel you are right though, I definitely think the dying process plays a role in some of the floss, I do notice that the white and the black tend to be thinner than the other colours and always have that way… but who knows lol. happy stitching 🧵🪡
How frustrating the Fairy Idyll is really beautiful, I feel your pain with the #8 Krienik, it’s in the Dragon Heart (#yearofthedragonsal 🐉) and is like stitching with barbed wire, worse if you have to frog it!

I love mirabilia mermaid. I have the pattern of the mermaid of the pearls and it’s kitted but I didn’t know how to bead. Now that I watched your video about beading I think I will try

I have stitched one mermaid before- it was also very bead heavy. I guess under the sea the beads are weightless!

Thanks for tuning in today. I was wondering about that too but there is already 2 darks and 1 bright green in the frog. I think I will likely have to stitch a couple options at the end of the stitch to see what colors defines it but pulls it all together

Back when I was stitching a lot and part of various bulletin boards ( pre-RUclips ) there was a lot of griping from members about Nora Corbett's obsession with yellow. I did plug along with Spring Queen about partway. Then I gave her away to a friend. I don't really love those light yellows.
I can agree with that! Tho in interviews Nora said she doesn’t have a favourite color and uses the color palette evenly (but I see A LOT of yellow dresses out there! Ha). Anyways, thanks for tuning in again and I look forward to meeting you in a couple weeks :))

I enjoyed your video. Fairy Idyll is so beautiful ❤ your bee looks amazing. How will you fully finish it? Oh what a stunning mermaid you have, I stitched a mirabilia called deepest love. The colors in this one are just stunning. Sounds like getting all the beads together might be somewhat of a treasure hunt. One might need the gold at the end to buy them all, but then mermaids deserve pretty shiny things😊
