Thanks again for this series, I love it. A bit sad that is over, unless you are planning to continue about different materials, like the different kind of threads and needles etc hmm, hmm? I'd really love it if you'd find ideas to continue it, but even if you won't, thank you very much it was a brilliant idea 🥰🧵🪡
You are so welcome! At the end of the day it’s about stitching on whatever you enjoy the most and if that’s Aida and evenweave then that is perfect! Happy stitching 🧵 🪡
This was an absolutely fantastic series and I hope you can do more on other topics. I started stitching over 20 years ago and all I knew was some kits from a craft store, there wasn't the internet either. Now that I am getting back into it I have so much to learn and I am loving it. Thank you for sharing this information in a thoughtful way. I have already learnt so much and am looking forward to seeing what else there is.
Oh so happy to hear you are getting back into cross stitch! It’s such a calming hobby and can bring so much enjoyment :) thanks for tuning into the tutorials. Happy stitching 🧵 🪡
Hi Arica - I have never stitched on even weave, but I recently bought 2 pieces for specific projects and I am anxious to try it. I have heard that it is easier when you eyes get older because of the "evenness" of the weave with no slubs like in linen.
Absolutely! It’s very clear to see whereas with linen even I miscount all the time! It’s so easy to do however on evenweave it’s much more clear and I have never miscounted :) just dive in, I’m sure it will be a lot easier than you have been anticipating :))
Excellent video. I love small stitches & wish I could see well enough to stitch on small counts of linen. Since I cannot, I stitch 1/1 on 25ct Lugana. I'd love to see examples of 2/2 on 40 to 50ct linen next to 1/1 on Lugana just to see the differences.
Thats a great idea and something i have readily available to share! perhaps that will be good for another flosstubeversity episode! thank you so much for tuning in and happy stitching!
Hmm so after watching this wonderfully informative video I have no idea what type of fabric I purchased earlier today. It was listed as being 28 count evenweave and made from 100% cotton. I purchased it from Amazon so perhaps the details in the listing were not accurate. I guess I will just have to examine it closely when it arrives to determine exactly what it is. Hopefully it will be usable as I purchased quite a large piece.
Interesting! 28 count will be great :) But evenweave is 50/50 cotton/rayon mix but that can be Amazon for you, sometimes their vendors don’t know what they are selling lol. But good news is that evenweave doesn’t shrink as much as Aida or linen making it good for dyeing but it doesn’t pick up the dye as well so you may need to over dye it which would look beautiful for Shakespeares fairies!
I have put it in time out for now lol. I ordered some linen from Amy at oak crown studio so will see if the colour will work with the pattern. That Wichelt linen is like cardboard and I am not liking the feel of it at all. I also wanted to tell you I have stitched 2 Earth Dancers. One for me and one for a cousin who loved it. Beautiful design you won't be sorry if you go ahead and stitch it.
@@lesleymoore8689 TWO earth dancers?! That’s impressive! It’s such. Gorgeous design :) Yes the Wichelt is super stiff but it stitches up beautifully if you can get used to it. It’s a touch one when I stitch in hand esp. I hear Amy’s stuff is lovely 🥰
Hi Erica: I have a question for you. I started stitching Delphine’s Butterfly Brigade on the recommended linen which is Laurel 32 ct by Wichelt. I notice that my DMC is shredding quite badly stitching 2 over 2. This fabric is very stiff and not sure if I should frog what I have stitched and try washing the fabric first. Do you have any recommendation for me to try?
Thanks for reaching out. Yes there is a couple things you can try. I wouldn’t wash the Wichelt, it is still but gives beautiful stitches :) When floss and threads are manufactured there is a smooth grain and a rough grain. Think of a pine tree, one direction of the thread is like the tip of a pine tree. If you pull the correct end of the thread through the fabric it glides through. If you pull it through from the wrong direction the fibers bend back and fray think of pulling a pine tree through trunk first - it’s similar in theory that the branches will break and you will loose needles. So answer may lay in your thread preparation. When you pull a new length off your skein, take note to stitch with the thread in the same direction you pulled it off the skein. Does that make sense? Hard to explain sometimes… also if you find that isn’t working for you, you can wax your thread :)
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. You’re making a fantastic job.😊💕🌺 I have a question. Do you know what is the difference between evenweave Lugana and evenweave Murano? Thank you so much.
Thanks for watching today Mary! Yes I do know the difference…. So Zweigart names their fabrics and used to only refer to their fabric by name and not count. Here you go: Evenweave by zweigart is all 52% cotton and 48% rayon and is all now called Lugana (used to be 25ct) 20 ct Bellana or Valerie 25 ct Lugana 28 ct Brittany or Jazlyn 32 ct Murano (ppl say it’s closer to 30ct) Similarly with Zweigart linen… 28 ct Cashel 32 ct Belfast 36 ct Edinburgh 40 ct Newcastle
Thank you Arica. I love the fact that you find the time to answer at all comments although it must taken you much needed time. Keep up girl!❤ Love you!💕🌺❤️🥰

I have always worked on linen, until I took a step into the unknown and ordered even weave, and I love it, I love your channel
Thank you! Evenweave is lovely to stitch on too - I’m happy to hear you stepped out into trying something new and it’s worked out well for you :)
Thank you for yourfabric series. I love to stitch on Aida and Evenweave. I am not crazy about Linen. Happy stitching!

Thanks for replying. I was using the loop method so maybe I will try just using 2 threads instead and see how that works with maybe waxing.
Im curious to know if it worked for you??
