A few people have had trouble following the guide so I want to clarify a few things: 1- You will need some seed money to start trading. You can't buy the commodities without credits. 2- Make sure you have enough credits for rebuy because you will be interdicted by pirates. Be prepared to evade 3- Do not follow the same route as I do in the video. I made that just for the demonstration 4- Take a few minutes to understand how Inara.cz website works. Customize the search according to your ship and needs 5- Make sure to check the last update date and demand/supply. These numbers change every few hours. 6- Commodity prices change all the time. So the prices and profits shown on Inara are not always accurate
@@garynevills5562 If you throttle down and submit to interdiction, then the cool down to supercruise is only 3 seconds. You may get some damage but mining and trading is my main income in ED I've yet to get destroyed driving the T9 truck.
The trade progression for new players is simple. Sidewinder > Hauler > Type-6 > Type-9. Start at Griggs Hub in the Aritimi system and buy Silver. Sell the Silver to Vela Port in the Amarak system just 1 jump over. Rinse, repeat, until you get enough credits to outfit a Type-9 and fit it to carry 720 tons of cargo. Once you have that, you can make around 50 million per hour. This is the exact method I used to purchase all of my ships and my carrier.
I want to add that there's a trade factor such as a system faction being in a Boom/Expansion state where they will ask you to mine Bertrandite which you can buy for 16k per ton 20lys away from such a station then sell it back to complete the mission for a 50 million payout, Spend 7 mil, Gross 50.
You also want to set the supply available to be able to fill your cargo hold that's what the profit is based off of, if you can hold 500 units but they only have 5 you won't see the profit it says
I really appreciate that you did it in real-time to show everybody what it is actually like. As much as people talk about mining, I just don't believe it pays as well as trading on a per hour basis. I relocated my ships and modules to a new station specifically because of my research on inara. Any time I want, I can load up, make three hops, pull in 16 million. It's basically like living in an ATM. One thing I'll add- the Imperial Cutter is worth the effort if you want to trade your way to billions. If I ditch the fuel scoop, I can load it with 728 tons. Even with a scoop, I can carry 695 tons. While this isn't the biggest capacity, the speed is the bonus with the Cutter. Fully loaded, my Cutter still jumps just over 20ly. Empty, it's over 30ly. I do have some engineering on the FSD. And the Cutter is much faster in regular flight. This time savings can add up to millions when you are making multiple trips back to back.
I was put off by mining too, zapping rocks in isolation soon led to trading in a Cutter instead. I trade anything from Bertandite to Indite, the credits earned aren't bad.
@@lootandgrind owning a fleet carrier takes the game to another level of gameplay.Endless possibilities.imagine trading with your carrier.for example you can feel it up and then unload to your destination, or you can go mining, if you want to change ship to do something else you just unload your cargo!

That's true. My idea was to show beginners that this is something they can do in the game. Maybe something to work towards in their playthrough. I actually got into the game after watching someone make millions mining.
Inara hasn’t been that accurate for me. It will show a profit margin of say 20,000 credits per unit but most of the time it’s only 1000 credits. Sometimes it will be at a loss.

Type 9 is not required. You could follow the steps using a Hauler and still make good money. My goal was to give beginners an idea of what's possible. So that they have something to work towards.
Its just a recommendation what i did when i was a beginner i used my sidewinder and opted it the best i could, sure, its not gonna be profitable, but it was enough to get a good ship
Sure. But you won't be able to earn the same amount due to cargo space limits. I think you might be able to make around 5-8 mil per trip using a Type 7
I don't know what I am doing wrong, but when I sell my commodities the profit isn't nearly as high as stated by Inara and the trips aren't worth the money.
