Why did toyota design a axle housing on the 80s sedan & wagon with seal bearings when they could have designed the housing and axle with the seal on the backside of the bearing Without the bearings being a sealed bearing.
That way the diff lube would supply the bearing rollers ten times better than the Sealed Bearings with grease .

You will need at least a 10ton and heat up the retainer. We use a 20ton in the shop

Some people say that the rear axle is really good on the AE86
Agreed. Although modern tire compounds, engine swaps, and shock loading are making the axle show it's age.
I know it's been a couple years since this has been uploaded but is the process similar to 84 Celica GTS? Thank you very much.
Looks like an 84 celica is solid axle, so yes the process should be very similar
Also why are the bearings on the E86 wider that the ones on the AE71 Wagon ?

How much would a shop charge for this service?
Alldata book time shows 2.0hrs labor for R&R wheel bearings only. I'd add 0.3hrs for wheel seals. 3.0hrs total labor time is what I charged this customer.
