On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. - Игры

SU-47 vs -57
or
-47 vs Mustang or Spitfire
@@GrantvsMaximvs or A-10🤔
@1:16 the missile was about the wingspan distance behind the Gripen at a 45 degree angle to the afterburner.
Hmmm... that's been happening a lot lately...not for you, GS but for your foe. Lucky them.
Hey Mate, big fan
i’ve got a custom PC build im doing at the moment and i was curious as to what GPU n Graphics card your running and what not
And also any hardware like joysticks and what not
Any help would be awesome
Cheers
You know what I wanna see now? Su-47 vs Su-57! Berkut vs Felon!
What's the point of fighting up there? You're not gonna take a real score anyway.
Omg Count and Tabloid
Same
I would too. Along with Berkut vs the F-15 Eagle.
@@xii-nyth4101 Gimme a break!
"he's kind of on my six, I don't love it," is a very excellent line
The problem with forward swept wings is a phenomonen called 'aeroelastic divergence' meaning excessive and unwanted wing flex at certain flight regimes.
True. In layman's terms, the design can cause air to push upward more at the wingtips, which twists the wingtips upward, which increases the upward force on the wingtips, which twists the wings more... which could cause them to snap at some point.
Correct. With traditional spar-rib-stringer wing construction, the tip twist is divergent. The only way to make a forward-swept design work is with composite construction, which the Soviets didn't have at the time.
@doccls u are correct but they did u composites on the wings. This was the first plane witch they used to test. There was something witch I forgot. It was either the got the composites from someone else or they used an inferior process to make them. Can't remember but maybe couldn't make wings in 1 pice or not a pre peg process. Anyway something
@doccls one problem they found was excessive maintenance on the wings because of the twisting
Now with new metal aloys you can overcome wing stress. Today su47 is very possible to exist.
damn, the Gripen is a lot better than i would've though here after seeing the Su-47 vs raptor video. It looked like you two almost had a mid-air collision in the last round. that would've been kind of poetic
Because he was under estimating the Gripen.
@@robleyusuf2566I think it's just skill, his enemy pilot was moving that gripen GOOD
The guy flying this Gripen was much better than the guy that flew the Raptor.
The guy flying the Gripen clearly understood the basics of BFM, while the dude that flew the F-22 not so much.
As SOON as you said "easy kill", I knew you were dead 😂
I have to say .... the other pilot was really good ! you should invite him more often It was a delight
The Gripen to me is so impressive, no matter what it’s up against long-range or dogfighting, it seems to always have a decent chance of winning
I love that the Su-47 has been getting so much attention on this channel. I love the oddity of its design. I know its not the only aircraft to have them, but I just love the look.
The Gripen seems to be holding its own out there...thanks for the great content!
Gripen has insane dance moves to dodge those missiles.
Looks of Su-47? Amazing!
The gripen deserves way more attention than it is getting
The Golden Eagle looks slick and very Sci Fi in that black livery, super cool.
A cool idea i thought about would be a battle of the tech demonstrators. Have the SU-47 vs the F-15 STOL/MTD
The f15 mtd doesn't have a gun.
@@stinkyfungus It couldve. The gun was replaced with sensors and info gathering tech.
As a Swede I would love more content as the gripen but as always love the content❤
Bruh
Please fly The YF-23 VS The SU-47 guns only Dogfight!🙏👍
Interesting how many pieces of the SU were shot off by the Grippen yet the SU maintained full maneuverability.
I suppose that's what you get when you have ALL the control surfaces.
It's a neat looking aircraft. My grandfather was still an engineer at Grumman when the X-29 rolled out - I don't think he worked on that program but I remember him sharing some promo material. I guess that's what the future looked like before stealth trumped aerodynamic and kinematic performance.
It'll be interesting in the next 100 years if stealth retains its primacy or if a tech will make it useless - or if it becomes so powerful and ubiquitous that fights will be forced to the merge and kinematics will matter again :)
That first fight air brake was high risk high reward.
The developers never implemented radar fuses in missiles. Therefore, air battles look exciting, but at the same time ridiculous. The missile flies a meter from its target and does not even react.
That Gripen gun sounds amazing!
SU-47 vs YF-23 dogfight?

@@Santi-792 X3
When they say the Gripen 'punches above its weight' they're not kidding, it's usually the smallest plane featured in these videos, not sure if the Falcon/Viper's larger.
Yes the F-16 is larger than the Gripen
F-16 is slightly larger than Rafale, and it’s about the same size as a Eurofighter Typhoon. Interesting or not, the Mirage 2000 is similar to Gripen in terms of its size.
As long as they’re making experimental jets for DCS, I would like to see the F-20 Tigershark and the F-16XL.
They built one f16 with differential thrust NF16 with added small tail wings like the two under belly ones. At about the time the F22 was being developed.
There's a bunch of wild videos released about early plane development... when you can find them.
the SU-47 shoots those missiles blind, you see they start tracking the enemy after a while because they're inside the fuselage and doesn't expose the seeker until dropping them
Oh man... It would be interesting to see Rafale vs 47
I'm a simple girl, I see Gripen, I click.
"I dont usually cheer for GS's opponent, but when I do, GS is flying an Su-47 fantasy fighter."
I've always loved the look of forward-swept wing aircraft like the Su-47 and the Grumman X-29, crazy that they can look like Star Wars ships and actually fly 😆
F/A-18E/F vs F-35C (Fox-2 fight) would be epic to see! Navy vs Navy : Old vs New
Day 13
The "no shoot," on missiles is probably due to the aerodynamic and ballistic limitations of the missiles themselves.
A missile can't turn on a dime, they are just too fast and have small control surfaces.
They can turn in longer sweeping turns and their speed allows them to make small adjustments in reaction to the target.
But 'off the rail,' they are not capable of just doing wild sharp turns and being fast enough to catch the target in close.
It makes sense...
It is a good thing the Su-47 tanked those shots in the second round. I thought you were toast! The Su-47 tanked quite a few gunshots actually, which was surprising, but probably a pain in the ass for the Gripen pilot.
😆😆
I love that plane! In black, so sinister looking. And you can see how the forward swep works .
Man, how crazy! This dogfight was really mind-blowing for me, great video!
Awesome to see the Su-47 showcased, I just finished a model of this rare and beautiful bird. I gotta wonder how close this flight model is...
if I remember correctly, the biggest benefit to the forward swept wings was stall characteristics. Something about the stall starting at a different point and making it easier to recover.
"Vasily! Check the missile ignition systems! We just lost GS to another Fox Two that didn't come off the rail!"
The Gripen has an estimated cost of $85 million. Cost for the Su-47 is likely somewhat higher than that, unreliable missile systems and all.
Wasn't breathing that last round lol
Another great fight!
Well done to both pilots!!
Impressive dogfight capabilities you two had. At 13:36, it just really looked as if the Su-47's agility is less than that of the Su-57, but I think you will pilot the gripen against a felon on this same setup, or we will just look forward to seeing the Su-47 vs Su-57 to compare the agile skills. Great content GS!
Seems like the Su-47 retains speed better in low speed turns which puts it in front of the bandit quicker than you'd expect.
That what forward swept wings does
Great video as always❤. Since most of the parts are made out of the Su 27, I‘d love to see a fight (DF and BVR) against it. That would maybe show the difference between the FSW and regular wings on a similar platform.
the gripen is such a beautiful bird 🤩
Great flying by the gripen
lovin the intro, "sup my dudes."
You know far before there was a Hiccup to train your dragon, there was Vicky the Viking who was an extremely resourceful fella, this little SAAB monster reminds of him, full of surprises...
I appreciate that you own it when the other guy gets you and you don't make excuses. You just explain what happened.
"This is gonna be an easy kill..." seconds before pieces start departing the aircraft.
since they are both maneuverability technology demonstrators, how about F-15S/MTD vs SU-47?
Gripen is so underrated! good pilot there btw.
The SU-47 is so beautiful. I remember when I was kid back in like 2000 when this thing came out. I bought like 3 toy models of this aircraft and still have them to this day. When I saw it for the first time, I was like “that is the coolest looking fighter jet I’ve ever seen” I also have the SU-37 Terminator, which is also a beautiful aircraft.
Ahhh my guy, the one i wanted most. Gripen is an animal. Sick fight!
Actually the coolest god fights I ever saw.
I personally would like to see more of the gripen loving the dogfighting videos btw
Oh my goodness the last round was amazing it was just like two dancer try to kill each others. Gerat fight by you GS love your work ❤❤❤
Every time his missile missed i was expecting it to swing back around and nail you 😂
Considering multiple very new aircraft is in DCS now but the Gripen E is not, yet the C-variant is performing well against those modern jets- an E-version should be hammering most planes.
That Gripen is underrated. I kinda wish Canada ordered them instead of the F-35.
That was a sick one. They looked like two leaves blowin in the wind in slow motion. 🤤
I just love it when GS says "fox 2 from me and.." the break in the edits when GS dies is so funny :D
I absolutely love the look of the Berkut, and also the X-29. Gimme those forward swept wings!
GS how do you find such good quality mods/ where do you get yours? Love the vids btw
One of the more intense matchups ive seen. Very close!
The Su-47 is beautiful aircraft one of my absolute favorites just by its design. That Gun sound extra beefy too
I can't get over how goofy the massive wingtip missile rails look on the Gripen lol
Well the Gripen is even smaller than an F-16 so of course it looks weird on it. ^^
They are full of sensors and electronics. That way they are so big.
@@2canines I know but I find it funny because the proportions are out of whack. It's like someone with comically large ears but is otherwise normal.
The guy flying the Gripen is very good.
Gripen pilot flew like a true fighter pilot. kudos.
I often find myself thinking it's a shame that nobody created an aircraft following the Northrop Grumman Switchblade concept. A variable sweep wing aircraft with forward-swept wings would be an interesting machine to see in action.
It's crazy how much the forward canopy bow obstructs the attempt to line up high aspect gunshots in the one circle. Surprising there aren't more fully transparent canopies like the F-16, but I guess it's not a common enough scenario to justify giving up the structural reinforcement.
F-16XL vs any fighter...
Amazing Video! I‘ve don’t really know how to fight with High off-boresight missiles, do you plan on doing a Video where you run through your decision making like you’ve done with some guns only dogfights? That would be amazing!
Ha ha, you just landed him on someone's house. Sick video man and the Gripen looks amazing, much better looking fighter than the Berkut, but that fighter is growing on me. It can do some sick manoeuvres man. There is something about the ass end of the Berkut that weirds me out. Love the channel man, and keep these sick videos coming.
Cant wait for the new F-15EX Eagle II to be released.
I love the SU-47… prolly one of my favorite silhouettes and just super sinister looking imo.
Wish you did more ground shots. Like you were saying in your video, watching the maneuverability from there would have been awesome.
Great video as always GS, how about showing the old F-5 some love?
Do a Su 47 vs Rafale pls, But pls fly in the rafale, we never see you in one so most of the time you win by skill, It’d be cool to see what it can really do
Gripen is like a BRUCE LEE , little but agile , fast and cunning
Nice to see gripen dogfights keep it up
I really wanna see the grippen fight the F22, just because thats how it got crazy hyped up for it being able to hold 9 g turns and people were saying “F22 killer?”
3:57 Ryse and that missile got into a staring contest. Looks like the missile blinked first.
strange that the SU did not get damage from those 30mmm center mass hits
Imagine seeing some of these battles above your house. F’in crazy. 😮
When I was young, the berkut was my fav plane. I didn't know anything about it, just that it looks special
Well balanced fight both planes very equal in performance.
Great skill+plane matchup!
I can't imagine the insane calculus that was going on to produce wings that can give lift at these slow speeds, and perform at much higher ones.
Kudos to Ryse, great fight!!
On the kitty hawk, A couple of hornet pilots were dog fighting And were diving and looping near the carrier. It was pretty fucking cool
Hey man you inspired me to play DCS. I want to join the Luftwaffe and next year I will graduate so I need to learn a lot now. DCS will help a lot
Gripen content gets an instant like
"it's basically a SU-27" yeah but fixes all my issues with the look of flankers and fulcrums
Imagine that airframe with Pivotal wings. Front swept for sub mach maneuvers, rear swept for Mach plus.
Snakebite would be the model name. 😊
The idea of forward swept wings was born because of the problem early jets had with back swept wings. Too much air pressure at the tips at high speed locked the ailerons, so the idea was to sweep the wings forward and bring the pressure to the root and free the control surfaces. Once tried though, they found it was causing more problems than it solved so they decided to move the ailerons closer to the wing root in the form of spoilers. Not as efficient for maneuvers but far more reliable for control
I would like to see more of that Gripen pilot
A request for your consideration: SU-47 vs F-15S. Two experimental, highly maneuverable aircraft.
Assuming the S is modeled.
How about a YF-23 vs SU-47?
I wonder when DCS will start simulating debris that can hit the plane behind the kill
With all that looping I thought you were both going for a maneuver kill.
If Batman had a fighter jet it would be the su-47
