On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

Not here, but whenever you finish a mission protecting ground-pounders and they cheer your low pass, I get goose bumps.
If you want to stay in the fight longer, feel free to use the laser-guided Advanced Precision Kill Weapons System (APKWS) rockets. You can carry up to 49 of these “Mini-Mavs” with a T-Pod to laser-guide them into the target. It maximizes time-on-target. 👍

As a young paratrooper who has seen both A10 & AH64 over head in times of need, well it gets a part of you very excited to say it RUclips acceptable. Then there’s the Angel of Death- AC130. It was still called Spooky in my time. It was as if Gods fist came to fight.
have a friend who's ex Army and he said the greatest sound in Iraq was the whistle of the A10 and then the buzz saw of the gun, they knew they were safe then.

Interesting fact about Apache loadouts. The rocket pods would be places on the outside, not the inside, like what was shown. The smoke from the rockets can affect the engines negatively.

They were basically the new Sandy jet to replace the venerable A-1 Skyraider. Though I also love the OV-10, but more for FAC(a), which the hog also does quite well. Bronco's did impressive work in Iraq last decade slinging APKWS rockets.
Except for the slow speed to get on site, the poor targeting capability, and the lack of precise munitions...
The movie needed an A-10 scene instead of MH-6 imo.
The historical real event used MH6s to insert operators precisely on the rooftops. The “AH6 “were able to keep cycling for CAS for the next 18 hours.

The battle of mogadishu was already one sided as hell.
The rangers, Delta, and 10th mountain, and 160th SOR, inflicted casualties FAR out of proportion to their numbers,
While sustaining casualties way below what should have been expected considering the disparity in numbers.
a Hog (or the AC130, THAT WAS REQUESTED) orbiting the battle area would have been... excessive
if they actualy fired shots (the Somalis may not have gotten as bold if there had been heavy armed assets above...)
The "denied forces' were scapegoats. an AC-130 would've denied the airspace for the AH-6s which were able to clear entire streets and perform danger close strikes. an AC-130 sounds like a great idea till you see how built up Mogidishu is and how danger close a lot of the littlebirds had to get

Man, that gun is just awesome. For those who may not know, that thing spits 30mm depleted uranium core rounds, not normal ammo used in fighters. That thing is like a laser beam that cuts through armor like butter.
Yay... That's probably what makes the ground soldiers so patriotic, the uranium. I mean, someone has to check the wreckage. I'm sure they're just passing through the area, as many will in the future... Where the uranium bullets are buried...

My father was so close to being put into that mission, if you’ve seen the movie, the man on the table bleeding out from an artery in his leg was my fathers roommate. He was incredibly lucky to not be drafted in, and I pay respects to everyone who lost their lives that fateful day and night

GS even gave them (for somalia) advanced SAM units...
Since the F35 didn't exist in at the time of the Battle of Mogadishu, that's a safe bet. However, that was also around 30 years ago so a lot has changed.

I was a paratrooper for a long time in the early 2000s. If I had the chance to QRF for a downed blackhawk with A10 AND AH-64 support?!! I'd be so hard 😩

Could A-10's not be fitted with AGM-122 'Sidearm' in the way AV-8B Harriers and some Helo's could? Not as big a hitter as a HARM admittedly it would still be useful against anything with a RADAR emitter though.
Does DCS have ground vehicles you can man (i.e. M1A1 or M1A2 Abrams/Bradley IFV/CAV)?
I got to see an A-10 attack demonstration at an air show in Wisconsin years back. Even though they used blanks and explosive squibs on the ground, it was really exhilarating. I've seen plenty of military documentaries about the A-10, and standing in the audience, there was no way to tell that it wasn't real. That brrrt sound live is unforgettable.
The movie and real event of Blackhawk down would be different if 4 A10 and 1 C130A would have ended the fight and brought our boys home.
If they had the hardware would they have been allowed to deploy the A-10's munitions inside a city? The collateral damage of even the cannon is going to be dropping buildings (plural), I highly doubt they would have gotten permission until perhaps the situation got to the point the force was almost overrun, then perhaps, but by then two heli's were down and the force scattered.

I’m not sure when I found your channel, but I’ve been playing catchup ever since, and some how don’t think I’ll make it.
I see new to me, interesting stuff and throw it in the watch later list, and then watch 15 other videos before I get to the saved list only to find half of what I already watched is in that list…. Sooo what the hell, I watch it again and enjoy it as much as I did the first time.

You don't need to put so much separation with the A10. It takes you too long to re-engage. Tighter turns. Great content btw.
I have a cousin who flew an A-10. He descibed tanks as essentially "moving coffins" to the A-10.
