I only see you dropping flares. Isn't the SA13 firing radar guided missiles? Also, why are the surface to air missiles so much easier to defeat that air to air missiles?
@@ryanomac27 The SA13 is firing IR guided missiles, but uses a radar for target detection. Like how you would use the radar in a F16 to slew the AIM9 seeker onto a target. Hope this helps.

Oh absolutely. About 12 CBUs per A-10. One CBU is forty tank-killing skeets. The only reason each vehicle was hit more than once in this video was because there were more skeets than vehicles! One CBU could theoretically destroy forty tanks. Emphasis on theoretically. Not in practice.

CBU-97 are awesome, i love using them on the f-16 doing sead/dead runs. Tossing them on a S-300 site and killing nearly everything is a different kind of satisfaction.
I can only imagine what its like being a ground pounder and watching in awe as a single A10 takes out an entire column of enemy armor effortlessly. And then the icing on the cake with the "show of force" for the boys on the ground. Those cluster bombs are legit!!!
When I was in basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood we could see A-10s running circles over a training range climbing, diving, and doing strafing runs in pairs. It was quite a sight and very reassuring for those of who knew we were very likely to go overseas.

There's something really satisfying about seeing an aircraft loaded with air to ground weapons doing its attack run. The amount of damage beasts like the A-10 cause on the battlefield is frightening and beautiful at the same time.
I was stationed at China Lake when they were testing the CBU 97 with the Super Hornet. I never got to see the actual drops but they did show us the footage from the chase plane. It was just surreal. I was thinking “this is a game changer”

The Navy use to have a weapon called the AIM-122, a short range HARM missile converted from old AIM-9C missiles which would have been perfect for the A-10, especially if if had a dual seeker and could be used as either anti-air, or anti-radiation.

The BLU-108s are able to impart spin on the skeets by the way of angled rocket motors on the PDB, hence why they pop up as they're throwing out the skeets. Not sure if it's modeled here, but an updated version of the skeets have an EFP center as well as scoring around the edge of the plate, resulting in a shotgun-like effect while the EFP is being formed upon detonation.
Can’t wait for the Chinook module. Being able to communicate with the Chinook in a situation like this would be very nice. And being able to *be* the Chinook in a situation like this would be very nice. I’ll fly the Chinook one day 🤞 In DCS and in real life.
I can only imagine the amount of morale boost a single hog can be for the boots in the ground. Imagine being a foot soldier and there’s a massive convoy of mounted enemy units headed your way, but by the time they get to you, most of them are already dead, your fight is minimized, and while you’re fighting the A-10 is continuing to pummel them from above, and you both go at it until there’s nothing left to shoot at. Imagine the horror the opfor would feel from having their attacking force be completely annihilated. There has been debate about the A-10 being decommissioned and replaced, but no other American aircraft made yet can truly fulfill the niche that the warthog fills. The loiter time. The amount of armament. The survivability. The sheer brute strength of the brrrrrrrrrt. The only justifiable reason to decommission the current fleet of A-10s would be to have new ones built, or a new design that improves on the current design built in place of new A-10s.
Funny you should say nice things about the engines, I used to make tube assemblies for the hp and lp turbine cooling for GE tf-34 on the a-10s. Beast of an engine..

in the A10C/2 you can turn the ccip to ccrp by pressing and holding weapon release button. By switching to "hud test" selecting the 3/9 and when while in ccip if you can use the (when you're out of parameters for ccip) bottom reticle to des the spot where the ccrp is going to go.
