Stealth isn't the main factor that its days being numbered. It's the simple fact that it cannot defend itself against air defense systems and aerial threats. These have to be cleaned up by other jets before this thing is sent to the airspace which makes the AF wonder why they don't use one aircraft for the job instead of two.
No other plane can low loiter and provide that low level cas support. Everything flys too fast. You need a CAS plane in the mix with all these multirole and air superiority jets. Nothing else can take down multiple tanks with ordinance and a gun run in a single run. I’d vote for an update on the model. I think the concept is there though. It’s not made for air to air combat just like other jets aren’t meant to take out tanks with their main gun.
I feel like you can sort of test this out by doing a sort of fulda gap sort of scenario, where you have just an epic ton of defenses, and see how many minutes the A-10 lasts and if the F-16 lasts any longer.

Easy to say that it's simple for someone sitting behind a computer screen. In the world of UAVs which can be disposed, aircraft like these become less relevant.
The reason why the BUFF has always been upgraded as of lately is due to the fact that as time passes, the earths topography gets changed and as the American's maps of the middle east needs to be changed, they don't want to change their maps so instead of changing maps, they change landscapes
