Always loved the A-10. When I was a teenager (mid 80's) a friend and I were walking down a rural road in Worcestershire, England when we saw two A-10s approaching at just a couple of hundred feet. We often saw both RAF and USAF aircraft as I believe it was on a training route, but it was the first time I had seen the A-10 outside of books. We both waved to the pilots not expecting them to see us but as they flew over us they gave us our own airshow by both criss-crossing the road we were walking down. It was an amazing moment; I was an air cadet at the time and loved flying and everything to do with aircraft.
Omg same we were on holiday in that area and saw 2 A -10's. I said to my family as we were walking they are called warthogs and have a Gatling gun the size of a beetle car. The A10C doesn't need too much to stay relevant. The airframe itself offers basically the perfect combination of payload, loiter time and survivability. The only significant changed the A10 needs is integrated HARM capability and an electronic warfare package which can be uploaded in the gun bay (since the gun is a self contained package designed to be hot swapped during reload and refuel procedures, why not manufacture an EAW/ECM package that can be installed in the same manner?) Also, engines. The Hog absolutely needs better engines. We have the technology and we have the reason. Apparently what the USAF lacks is the willpower to admit the Army needs its own fixed wing CAS platform capable of fighting _more_ than just assymetrical insurgents.

A-10 is the most satisfying aircraft to fly in DCS. You have to learn the rules of CAS and survival at slow speed, but when you've dodged the missiles and cannons and brought an end to the enemy, it is sweet flying.
Looking at you tearing up that highway makes me think if the USAAF is using the same method to train A-10 pilots in the states. Would explain some of the road conditions.
I did some communications work on at a site just NW of the last city in Kuwait on the highway going towards Iraq in the April of 91. All the vehicles had been pushed off the highway. There were also vehicles that got off the highway because it was blocked and they got stuck in the sand. These vehicles were shot up too. I took a lot of pictures while I was there. I also saw many burning oil wells.
Was watching a tv show about the A-10 in the early 1980’s. One of the pilots jokingly said “The A-10 is so slow that we use a calendar instead of an air speed indicator”. Still cracks me up 😂.

Super cool to see this livery being used in stuff like this.
If you set the gun safety switch the bottom GUNARM position instead of GUNPAC, you can fire the cannon without the stabilization system trying to keep the nose pointed at a fixed point. Good for painting linear targets like convoys.
