On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Yeah those bland looks hide a scary lethal plane. Ha ha ha ha.
While it's close, it actually does outrate the F-16 and with its better energy retention it pretty much always wins in DCS at least.

GS - You didn't say - "There goes my tail, I need that". Good fight and video. Your opponent NEVER choose a WW2 fighter - always jets. An ME-109 G4 - maybe a F-4U4 Corsair.

That was intentional, it was his patented "Lizard maneuver" where he purposely detaches his tail to distract the enemy while he escapes...
f4u-4 is more suitable for low-speed dogfight than p-51; but the rumored future summer release is f4u-1d, which is worse than p-51d he's flying. The other released ww2 modules like spitfire and me-109 k4 stomps p-51d on low-speed dogfight though.

The P-51 is probably one of the best sounding planes. From that wonderful Merlin roar to six Ma Deuces speaking in unison as you squeeze the trigger. Simple perfection.
My God there has never been a more beautiful aircraft in form and fashion. Without 6× .50BMG its still a peice of art that purs and screams like a muscle car. 10/10

Ooo you should do a 2v2 or 3v3 dogfight where one side has all jets and the other is a hybrid of jets and a prop. I’d be interested to see if one side having a super slow prop would make some unique advantages.

You should consider in bandit unknown that each time you reset he has to pick an aircraft from a different country and/or an aircraft from a different decade.

It's a wonderful sound, isn't it? The immortal Ma Deuce, the M2 Browning heavy machine gun. Six of them configured with a lightweight barrel that increases the fire rate slightly over the M2HB the ground-pounders used. But that's definitely still Ma Deuce talking.

Look at the controls and workings of what it took to actually fly a P-51 and it’ll bring a whole new respect to those fighters and their pilots.
They were some very “crude” and mechanical machines. And in crude I mean they had nothing for pilot aid in high altitude, warmth, long missions, etc.
It took a special kind of ace to fly them. And idk if modern pilots would even be able to fight as effectively with them as the old pilots could.
It’d be like going from a self driving car with all kinds of creature comforts, cameras, and assists, to a 1930/40s Ford Coupe.
Sure you could drive it/fly it. But you’d be lost for a good while while you learned the machine.
Now that you mention it, wouldnt it be amazing if you and the other guy both brought random WW2 props? I don't know how many props dcs has, but imo that would be really fun and unique too

Idea: order all available DCS aircraft by their in-service date, you dogfight oldest aircraft vs the next oldest aircraft, best of 3 (or 5), work your way up and see which aircraft has the longest run

Spitfire bandit unknown, please! I would love to see P-38 Lightning bandit unknown, but 1st we need some P-38... (P-47 is a fatty-boom-boom, I doubt it can beat anything).
DCS WWII birds I like are the Spitfire Mk.IXc, Messerschmitt Bf-109K-4, Focke Wulf Fw-190D-9 and Polikarpov I-16 Rata. What I don't like that much but would love to see too are the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt, North American P-51D Mustang (already did), Focke Wulf Fw-190A-8 and de Havilland Mosquito. Especially against the Berkut and Black Widow II.

It always surprises me that the P-51 can hold it's own against some modern fighters. Obviously neither aircraft were built to combat the characteristics of the other, so it's less that one is better than the other and more that the strengths of one just happen to overlap with the weaknesses of the other, but it is still entertaining to watch.
I'd love to see a variation of "Bandit Unknown" Where you pick your opponent's jet but not your own. Obviously it wouldn't have quite the same surprise factor since you'd need to set up and load into the map and you'd know what you were flying and them, but you'd still have to adapt whatever aircraft they gave you to whatever you gave them.
The P-51 does appear to exhibit extremely high AoA capabilities when it's tail gets shot off. No control, but a lotta AoA!

I don’t know anything about dcs other than watching you, I don’t know if they have a F4u Corsair but I’ve seen studies back in the day that the military did on the fighter planes against one another and the Corsair beat everyone German planes included, of course with pilots being equal, would love to see you use that to fight everything

The P-51 is like the WW2 version of the F-16. It doesn't like going slow.
The Hornet can't sustain flight slower than the Mustang, so it will tend to overshoot, but it has all kinds of post-stall options, whereas the Mustang's most famous post-stall maneuver is "drill a hole in the ground".
Hey, at least the P-51 does better in the post-stall than the P-39.

I live in a spot where annual visiting airshows commonly have the heritage flight, which usually is a P 51 and a raptor flying together, so that part was COOL to see here!
Day 65/ Video 35 of bugging ya to give the Mig 31 Foxhound a spin! (Maybe not against a Mustang lol unless you were getting experimental- Foxhound's all about that 70000 foot mach 3 action, , slinging BVR Mach 5 R37s and R37Ms of course .)
