Just love when youngins finally hear our music 🎶
Great 8th grade memories! SOLAR introduced us on the East Coast to California soul. This album also includes one of my favorite slow jams of all time. Incredible stuff🎼🔥
This one was HUGE, all over SoCal radio and L.A. clubs back in the day. And saying "Now this guy can sing" about Howard Hewett is putting it mildly, his range and control is incredible! Thanks for the reaction Empress, and Happy Holidays to you and family. 🙂
...I ALWAYS said to anyone I knew, that Howard (& Go West's PETER COX), are THE 'Voices' I would have, if I was a Singer... *STILL* .....
Happy holidays to you as well
@@RBS_ Ahem, you forgot Mickey Thomas. But I'll just attribute that to your lower back pain meds. 😉
Your post reminds me of something Michelle Visage said on the radio back in the day ie “no Howard Hewett, no Shalamar” (she added no disrespect to Jody and Jeffrey). ✌🏽
@@gabrielmcdonnell8699 ...are you WATCHING me!?? ...I was literally watching Shalamar's "I Can Make You Feel Good" RIGHT before I got your n-otification! ..great Minds... ; )
Shalamar was the bomb back then. Thx for this reaction.
My pleasure
***SHALAMAR (LIVE) TRIVIA TIME!!*** ....make that HAPPEN, Shalamar....(1:46)....
- ...this, was when Shalamar became a WELL-OILED MACHINE; their Spring 1981 Album "Three For Love" showed that they were SINGERS, and with the addition of HOWARD HEWETT (2:52), they became respected, because they could SING, DANCE, and looked good (5:03)....
- ..."Make That Move" helped DEFINE 'Post Disco' that Summer, due to the changing sounds; this tune, "I'm In Love" (Evelyn King), "Shake It Up Tonight" (Cheryl Lynn) "Pull Up To The Bumper" (Grace Jones) & "Give it To Me Baby" (Rick James) OWNED Summer 1981....
- ...Jody, Jeffery & Howard ALL sang lead on the Album, but the TREMENDOUS "Quiet Storm" CLASSIC "This Is For The Lover In You", eclipsed this tune.....BUT, this tune, is for the "Cookouts..." (3:59).....
They definitely had released some great classics, even the post Jodi 80s hit “Dancin in the Sheets” although that song borders on early 90s cheese but I can still bop to it if I hear it😂
Very nice write-up RBS. Howard's 1990 eponymous release is still one of my faves, lots of good tunes on it in addition to his hit "Show Me". Season's Greetings to you and yours amigo! ☮️
@@royg9080 ....AND, I loooooooove the 1984 "Heartbreak" Album w/ Micki & Delisa!! ...Fun L.A. New Wave Funk....
@@craigcraigster4999 ...THANKS, Sir Craig! ...I'm healing from a busted (lower) back, but since I have to stay put, Empress is healing the pain for me....
Yeah it seems like a get the party started type song
Happy Holidays Empress and family❤️🙏🏿❤️🙏🏿. Happy Holidays everyone 🙏🏿❤️🙏🏿‼️ That’s Jody Wheatley, Howard Hewitt and Jeffery Daniels. 🔥Love how Shalamar incorporated their choreography with nice danceable bops.
lol I was reading your comment like is Jody related to Phyllis Wheatley😂. Happy holidays 😍
@@EmpressReactsE, did you read Danyel Smith’s book? Whatchu know bout Phyllis Wheatley? 🙋🏽♂️😉
One of my favourite Shalamar songs!
I was around 14 when this came out.
A great time for music.....and Fashion! 😎
Shalamar has some great jams, some from when I was a baby/toddler and some from before I was born. I think this is my favorite of their hit singles for sure. I never noticed the similarities in the piano arrangement on this and Change's The Glow Of Love, which is one of my all-time favorites of that era (we even used it as our wedding music to enter our ceremony 38 years after the song came out!).
Don’t think I’ve heard that song
Shout out to Roy G! Got me jamming while I’m invisible and on mute during this Zoom call. 🕺
Ha! love it! 😂 🕺🏼
😂❤️
Thanks for the fun reaction as always Empress!! I knew this funky bop would have you throwin up those 10s! Always love seeing their live performance videos because they all had so much personality and seemed so charismatic and their choreo always seemed on point. It’s a shame they fell out and broke up although I guess that could have impacted Jodi’s solo career who I was obsessed with in the late 80s/early 90s 😆
Unsuspecting 🔥
Shalamar was also actually the name of a vintage perfume
Oh wow 😂
That was a few members of the group DYNASTY introducing them..they have great songs also..both are from Solar Records label..and the studio version of this is much better..take care
There was a group called Dynasty ‼️
Oh yku cut ur hair, beautiful ❤️
😊 thank you
😂 Yup, you’re white. ✌🏽 _yup it’s me same dude from that other reaction channel_
@@EmpressReactssorry about my post that was deleted. I’ve interacted with him on another channel. I wish my fiends liked rnb as much as he does.
Where u be these days beautiful woman?! U release some music yet?😮
Problem with R&B is it has multiple meanings, its the name of multiple genres of black music and it also was the name of the chart but effectively that chart was basically the black american music chart because any record from a black artist was entered into that chart instead of the mainstream american billboard chart. So it didn't represent just R&B which was basically black popular music.
Ah, interesting
