Don’t hate me but I saw her live in Perth, Australia, at an outdoor concert. Her voice sounded exactly live as it does recorded, to the point that when she started singing an unreleased song I’d never heard, I held up my phone to Shazam the song and it came up instantly. Also, speaking of quiet storm, her Perth concert was nearly cancelled because of the threat of a storm but went ahead nevertheless. During the concert the clouds were brewing all around us, and when she sang the words ‘quiet storm’ during Sweetest Taboo, a massive crack of thunder erupted. She threw out her arms as if she’d directed the thunder gods and the audience went wild.

I agree Joe that it seems like he abuses her. Grabbing her like that and smearing her lipstick is abuse. I agree Joe that it seems like he abuses her. Grabbing her like that and smearing her lipstick is abuse. If I saw that happen to someone in public my immediate thought would be “If he would do something like that in public, what is he doing behind closed doors?” Which makes this song so sad. She’s basically pining for someone who’s abusing her if we are to deduce anything from the video.

I really HATE the lazy "before its time" trope. It's predicated on today's music being the pinnacle that it's very clearly not. That music was OF its time. Deal with it!
