It’s like a Bowie and a Church song had a baby. What a great tune and clip….
damn youre right, has a lot of bowie
So right….. with platinum Nick Rhodes for New Romanticism!
EXACTLY!
you nailed it with your comment !
Yes! Aa bit of China girl and many others...
Seriously, though. How is this band still THIS good after more than 4 decades?
KIlbey
Saw them live a few weeks ago. Amazing!
How this song has not been on radio.well fwits still out there everywhere.
So much love for this song, and especially the band! Thank you to The Church for continuing this musical journey and making beautiful music, art for the fans after 40 years!! ❤❤❤
These guys don't even look 40 let alone they would at least be in their 50s now. I'm here to see if it was the ' Under the milkyway ' guys too.
This is the new magic we need… this is the new time and sound.
I don't believe it, they just keep giving us the best music.
i didn't know this band before. I came across this song randomly here in RUclips and I can not stop listening to their songs!❤
You have a lot to catch up on…
😊😊
Welcome to another universe, so glad you discovered it, and keep listening all your life! I know that’s how it is😊
I can't stop playing this paired with 'Another Century'. It took me 40 years but The Church finally hooked me in! Well done lads, and congrats Steve on your achievements here!
Untitled #23, Priest = Aura, After Everything Now This, Uninvited Like the Clouds, Further Deeper, Starfish, and this new album. Those are the albums to own. Get them, now. Oh, Hologram of Baal was pretty good, too.
@L F How could you possibly omit the beautiful 'The Blurred Crusade', the lush, opulent 'Heyday'and their spiky post punk debut 'Of Skins & Heart'?
@L F Thanks well check them out!
@Dk vids Thanks will check these out too!
@Dk vids I like those albums, but they transformed their sound for the better on latter albums. But there's stuff to love on all their albums, even the ones I don't care for overall, like Magicians Among the Spirits and Sometime Anywhere. I do think Heyday is good, but overrated.
Love the comments and yes this is The Church!! If you want to know what this video is about and who the dude in the video is, read Kilbey’s book Eros Zeta and the Hypnogogue and you will understand!! 😂😂😂
3:07 ❤Being that I AM that 😂I AM, like no other, I Love being 🎉singled out in 😢The Way that is 😮brought about with such passion ~&, from The😅Church, which makes it eVen All'ah The Morr special😊😊😊
Amazing!!!! Love this so much!!!!
Fantastic song. One of their bests. It’s so Bowie, but so Church as well.
Great song! It’s got a Mott the Hoople vibe.
ALSO true - or Spiders From Mars, for SURE.....
@@ogam5 I agree. It’s a brilliant album.
This may be one of the best songs of the 21st Century. The video is absolutely stunning.
Best song. Bring back good music......
From first note, speechless . . ,, .. .. ... ..... ... . .. .....
your pipes still sound like you get so uncertain when girl gets to you, it’s never as good as you’d hoped or as bad as you’d feared. still my #1 music of all. 💙🖤💜
that's an amazing reference, lol
Into my hands!
Masterful song and video I can’t wait for the album.😊💙👏
i am absolutely speechless after watching this....just....wow....amazing
Been one of my favourites from the lads since seeing it performed live last year. What a choon.
Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant! This is an extraordinary piece of art! I can't stop viewing and listening to it! Well done guys!
As the only one for me enters my life here is the song by tell him all about it! The love song for all time. Yeah, this is touched with bowie and the church all over it. And oh my goodness is that the handsome Merlin Kilbey in the lead? Certainly looks like him, but I can’t keep up with the ever lovely Kilbey family.
The video suits the song to a tee. Can't wait to get the new album
what a refreshing relief . still keeping it real. love this.
that distant dreamy echo... buzzs and fades...
What a fantastic band and new album. I've been a fan since the 80's. They just get better with time. Absolutely beautiful. Very "beatles" like sound on this song, too. I love it.
Which Beatle song/songs do you consider are similar to this ?
I was a fan in the 80's and early 90's, which is why I haven't been a fan since...but, that's just me
This is the ultimate band for me since I started listening to them in the 80s. No other you? Heck there’s no other band that comes close
Haunting, melodic & catchy - The Church is on the right trajectory with this one!
Incredible tune!
WOW! amazing,. more more more!!!
They are the most underrated band of the 8 tds
Most underrated band of all time.
Well done, gentlemen. Loving the new record. See you in SF. Cheers!
More one beautful song!😉
Brilliant song! Brilliant video!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Glorious!
magical 💗💗💗
Everybody needs to go to church!!
Ummm --- why?
NICE 1!
Thanks for sharing it here.
I hear a lot of guitars.. Nice tune.. Steve Kilbey rulez..
There is no tune, no melody. Just a deluge of exotic sound.
One of my good friends is the “violinist” so it’s really exciting to see her in a proper music video (even tho it’s for a few seconds here and there) that actually sounds good and I’d listen to
Love that SK looks so pretty ….. Nick Rhodes vibe !
Perfect song and video!
When the spell is broken
Love is unwoken
I'm joking there's no other you
There's no other you

My favourite track on the new release. Instead of 60 minute concept album, I would have been just as happy with 60 minutes of this. Classic Church.
Surely you would get bored with a song that's 60 minutes in length? It's a good one though!
Have you heard "The Blurred Crusade"? That is classic Church, and, sounds nothing like this.
@@jamesdanger5105 never tire of jammed. Those 2 tracks together are an hour.
@@johnkearns313 not heard the blurred crusade. Still play the blurred crusade at least 4 or 5 times a year more than 40 years on though.
@@downatheel66 I don't quite understand this reply 🙂
Después de tantos años y todavía me conmueve su sonido. Eternos…
Can't wait to catch up with you in April
Simplemente maravillosa producción, ❤️ The Church.
Increíble lo transparente y contundente de la mezcla. Simplemente brutal!!
OMG! AMAZING
I just saw this on _Rage_ and had no idea it was a new song. Well done!
I can't get this one out of my head and don't want to
Wow!~, this is really good.
Love it!!!
Altered you, well, that's wonderful!
My favorite Church album since Priest=Aura
ZAWSZE.
Feels different but I like it.
I think I hear Cain doing his thing... I sure miss hearing Jeffrey Cain playing that guitar..
Splendid... and nice Ziggy Stardust feel.
So beautifull song...decades of beauty 🖤
Beautiful song!
Fantastic. Time for some heavy rotation. ❤🔥👽
KOOL 1!

❤❤❤ from Poland
@stevekilbeymusic like the old hits (Reptile, Under The Milky Way) and others. This is a fantastic song ❤❤
Du pur Church, ça fait du bien d'entendre et de voir ce titre... Aucune autre que toi...
Damn this is great!
Bowie meets Lou Reed. Great song
obsessed
Brought more friends, sounds great 👑💜💚💚
Thx for the Symphony concert CD ! Love it live 😍😍
i brividi a 57 anni....grazie
Amazing live 🎉show
Go if they come to a psychedelic Street corner near you
I love the band and song, but not crazy about the video. I hope it's okay to feel this way. : )
Troy, it is perfectly OK to be yourself. If this is how you naturally feel, it is perfectly OK.
Semplicemente meraviglios a

Awesome!!!
I think the Church’s Genre could best be described as
PsyGothelic IndieWave
Which is a combination of the rock genres Psychedelic and Goth. I wouldn’t classify anything I’ve heard on this album as New Wave no more than I would Under the Milky Way and Reptile.
But they hit the map as a new wave band with a new wave hit single, and were to my understanding a new wave band for their first decade until finding worldwide chart topping success on Starfish in 87’
Thus Leaving their “shimmering and white” New Wave Psychedelia for a darker destination darker that im hearby characterizing as
PsyGothelic IndieWave
And If I’m not mistaken this term has never been
Thus making The Church the token band of this freshly coined genre courtesy of
Mynd Mint.
Love it!
Swan song yep that’s me
Beautiful homage to Bowie
ZIggy vibes...
Sounds great and provided there was no trickery going on, this is a relief to hear. Steve's voice sounded shagged at Bluesfest in 2022. It was particularly notable because of how impressive the vocals were across the festival. So many mature and older singers who've clearly looked after their bodies and voices. There was no discussion about him being sick or stuffed after a long tour... but why would you let that happen before the biggest gig you've played in ages? The only two disappointments of that post-covid Aussie extravaganza were Steve's voice (the band sounded good) and the Waifs having 1/3 of the main people missing.
It’s as if David Bowie OBM and Peter Murphy morphed into Steve Kilbey.
Nothing like being influenced by the great D Bowie.
are there any Church songs within the last 14 years that have a tempo > than 126 BPM's...asking for a friend?
Hmmm, I'd say "Vanishing Man" from Further/Deeper
Does Steve Kilbey read these comments?
I would say yes
I don’t know, but he’s active on FB and Insta. Replied to a comment I made on FB.
Absolutely hauntingly beautiful song
Yes
Is there any original member left in this band?
Steve Kilbey writes about 90% of the music and 97% of the lyrics and it is basically Steve's band since 1981. He plays bass and sings almost all the songs.
who is this singer, is it the same guy since the beginning he looks totally different ?
Sophisticated sound but no melodies like in the olden days
That main guitar line is pretty melodic though
You have hit right on the great weakness of this song and it is a great weakness : There is no melody. To listen to this is to be smothered with exotic sound. The essence of music is melody. This has no melody. This has no essence. Steve Kilbey has lost his way. I hope someone will be able to get this through to him.
@@birdbites Play the guitar line on a piano, no special effects, and it would not impress ...
@@tjcint each to their own ~ I love it and the whole album
Confused where's Steve Kilby why isnt he singing
kooL
where the f*ck is Steve Kilbey? Is that him singing, I mean on the audio?!
Yes
No at this time, find dreary ;y ask if ok to feel about opinion in another comment I read) maybe this new release follows Impala style,as blaaa finds success I rekon, hhhh this more I hear,I add Lifeless drvel I Rekon,& who is th singer
To be *very* candid : This is a chaotic, disorienting, smothering, exotic-flavoured mess. This is not art. This is not music. This has no melody of any quality. Steve Kilbey, what are you doing ? You need to get back to actual music. The essence of music is melody. Mozart knew this. You know this. This is a mash of 'exotic' sounds, disturbing imagery, that only the impressionable could like. Steve, make your way back to music. You have a gift.
It is actual music. Do you say the same thing about Bowie?
I can understand your take on this music. I really can. Sometimes, I feel the same way, but can also appreciate the creative genius of Steve Kilbey expressing this rare streak of original creativity.
Thank you for a great album featured on Timmy Joe's Twelve 2023 v.05!

NOT the 'real church'. Nope.
True - no more than Brian May playing with a backing band could be the real Queen. Like Bowie, Kilbey is a writer/originator who co-opts others into making his visions real. Fine - some of it is good - but it isn't really 'a band'.
This isnt the Church. It's Steve Kilbey. Still bloody good..just not the Church.
It's still 1/2 of The Church. Come on, give Tim Powles his due respect already. The man has been drummer on more than half their albums, far longer than their original drummer. Not only that, but producer/co-producer and part of the songwriting process on all of the albums since he's joined. And to be fair, Kilbey was always really The Church. He started it, wrote the first 2 albums himself and his distinctive voice and lyrics are a huge part of their sound. I do miss Wilson-Piper and Koppes as they were an incredible guitar duo. But this album clearly proves The Church sound is alive and well.
I'm pretty sure that this is The Church.
I love this amazing Aussie band.
But, I'm not sure what they're doing here. They seem to be going away from their guitar base.
Are they aiming for a new sound?
M 🦘🏏😎
They use synths like most good recordings.
There are actually three beautiful guitars ripping in this song. Go see it live 🤘 there may be some added background in the recording, but it’s truly amazing to watch these guitars sing live… ❤🤘
Hi Mark! No, the guitar base is well and truly there... Jeffrey, Ian and Ash are all playing various electric and acoustic six strings on this song - and the rest of the mind blowing (my take) album The Hypnogogue. I've seen Jeffrey play songs from this album live and he does a bit of keys but it is all mostly guitar. Having said that, The Church are always evolving - as any band should... and I will never ignore any new music from them! Enjoy the music... and if you get the chance to see them on their upcoming north america tour then wow.. lucky you! I would love to be able to 'ride along' to several shows...
@@ryissafogarty so well said from a touring fan Aussie
