I counted this season, six episodes end in a Nathan scene. Opposed to four Lucas. When a story teller closes a certain way to set up the possibilities for the next story, it tells you something.
Few things I noticed in this: Elizabeth never says that she doesn't love nathan or have feelings for him, in fact she says that he means a lot to her. The biggest thing and reason why it is taking her all season to come around to it is because she is scared and feels guilty. She says "I can't" not I don't want to. And she also says "It will just hurt too much if I lose you." She is only doing this to protect herself from potentially getting hurt again.
I think it's definitely her fear that she moved away from N and toward L, not her love for L. I think they have things in common, but I think her heart is with N, she's just holding onto her fear for protection. I'm hoping she will see this for herself. Fingers crossed! lol
Do not give up hope! When Nathan told her I know you feel the same way about me, she did not say, I don't...she said I can't...that speaks volumes to me. That means she is fighting her feelings because she is afraid to love another Mountie again, but like it or not, it has already happened--that is why she ran off so fast. If she stayed, she might have given in to it. Remember when she cried to Jack and told him she did not think she was brave enough to love someone as brave as him? I think that's what we have here.
Yes! Glad it will be addressed next episode- I can’t just means a physical inability to do something and I’d hope she doesn’t chose Lucas just because her loss of Jack makes it hard to let Nathan in
And I feel like Rosemary's reaction to Elizabeth's telling her of what happened with Nathan, Rosemary says, "Who knows what could have happened between you two if you hadn't left!" (Not exact words) Why, Rosemary, whatever could have happened?
@@CTHailee Exactly She can"t because she is too afraid of losing him like she lost Jack. What she is too blind to see is that she could lose Lucas just as easily given the dangerous characters he comes into contact with regularly. We cannot live our lives in fear of losing those we love.
Yes Elizabeth and Nathan all the way...they have so much chemistry not just a picnic, or a walk in the park. Love is worth fighting for, he never gave up loving her. Even if she chooses Lucas something about him, coming out next season, may turn her off and make her realize. She cares way way too much for someone who does not love him. You can not shut them feelings down. When she thinks he got injured, was shot, was missing, she was devastated. She is just afraid to love him. There is a lot. She has been torn in emotions.
I’m so happy you analyzed this so we could slow down and take it all in. The scene was so quick that it was hard to focus on all the layers of what was going on. I just hate that he didn’t buy the land- he and Allie would still love it.
@@thelittlescenes1185 as much as I didn't like how Elizabeth reacted to his confession of love in that scene, I absolutely loved how hopeful Nathan was when he was telling her about the land. He was so excited about it and then, she really bursted his bubble.
I’m just going to say it. I think he deserves better. This triangle and her indecision is nuts. In real life, I think I would have told both men to move on.

She is just in that unique situation that makes everyone go completely nuts like you said. She’s fallen down the spiral and it’s time to get out- we’re ready and so is she

The character of Lucas needs a different type of personality in a woman to bring out the best in him. I wonder if Fiona will eventually grab his attention,.
There was honestly still so much to unpack in last night's episode between them. She confronted him at first in regards to Ally. He expresses that he's been trying to tell Ally it isn't Elizabeth's fault. Elizabeth actually takes the blame and says she should blame her. At that point, it's like what is Elizabeth expecting from Nathan? Nathan's talked to Ally. Ally's upset. Elizabeth thinks Ally should be upset. So what are you looking for? And again she brought up fear. She consistently brings up being afraid in regards to Nathan. "I Can't be with you because you could get killed," "I was afraid something would happen with Ally if we got together.." well now it has. She consistently says she's afraid. In my opinion, this speaks volumes. They even have a scene where Nathan gives her the plaque that expresses to do what you are afraid to do. Elizabeth needs to face her fears. Nathan also has not had the opportunity to really go on a date with Elizabeth. She tried to incite it throughout last season but Nathan always held back. We know why now. Elizabeth consistently pulls back from Lucas. I often wonder if she would with Nathan. We don't know. They've never had a date. This is another reason I think Nathan is endgame. I can't see them telling us this is a love triangle that won't end until the very end and have a long slowburn romance for it to be Lucas. There's too much Nathan and Elizabeth need to get through. And that includes her fears.
Love your last paragraph, so so so true. We don’t know really what she’d be like if Nathan and her got more romantic. About Allie, Elizabeth said she was afraid this was gonna happen if things didn’t work out between her and Nathan, if they didn’t get together. And it has happened. You’re right, it would make much more sense for her to be with Nathan- she doesn’t deny her feelings for him AT ALL. She cares about him and his daughter. She can’t really move forward with Lucas. It’s just all of these things that show that there’s such a deep connection between them...I don’t see that with Lucas. They’re just- similar, in what they like, and they both speak French, and were initially higher class BUT that’s not what you should build a marriage upon. Right?
I don't know, maybe Nathan push her away to the point where he push her right into Lucas arms, Lucas knows that there's something between Nathan and elizabeth, he can see it with his eyes; I know Lucas said he doesn't have a problem with Elizabeth friendship with Nathan from the episode we just watched we now know he's lying; Lucas seem to have a big problem with it. In his head he want that to happen but in his heart he knows where her heart is.

This scence leads you to believe it's Nathan but the writers and actors have done a good job making it look like it could go either way ...Nathan or Lucas! After tonight's episode....seeing Allie so hurt, I'm disappointed that the triangle is going on until the end! Just end this mess and heal Nathan and Allie's hearts even if that means a BETTER woman for Nathan! I love them and the suffering they have been through this season is SO WRONG!
Elizabeth always runs away when things get too much. Back in season 4 when Jack told her he was leaving indefinitely, she ran out of the church and told Jack to 'just leave me alone'. I think she is trying to force herself to like Lucas because he doesn't touch her heart. She can maintain a level of detachment and so he feels safe.
Just had another thought. I bet Nathan.and Allie are now wishing he had taken that promotion. Especially Allie. Poor thing not only has to deal with her feelings but she has to see her Uncle Nathan hurting too. What a mess!
I know! She gets what’s going on and it is unfair to not even give her uncle a chance😾but she has to learn to respect someone else’s feelings. I hope we see Allie being okay with Elizabeth dating Lucas because that way we can be certain that Elizabeth won’t later on get together with him just for Allies sake!

I know, they’ve spent a lot of time together but not in a romance context. More in a friendship context. Which I actually think is the best way to start off a relationship, right? Technically she doesn’t have to date Nathan. But if she’s not gonna be 100% in it (with Lucas) she maybe should go to dinner with the guy so she’ll realize that it’s WORTH IT
I really like the play by play breakdown, too. I think Elizabeth is only superficially attracted to Lucas because of the romancing. She is attracted to Nathan even without it. We will know what the writers want soon enough.

I'm hoping that after Lucas asks Elizabeth what she said here, she'll realize she's meant to be with Nathan. She never denied feelings here. If she didn't feel for him all she had to do was tell him. Instead she said "I can't." It seems obvious, especially in this scene, she has feelings for him, but is too afraid to take a chance. Also even though I'm not team Lucas, I feel bad he's probably going to get his heartbroken in the next episode. Elizabeth hasn't elaborated on this with him. All he knows is that she said she can't give him what he wants, which means he probably thinks she doesn't have any feelings for Nathan. But if she tells him the whole story, I think he'll realize that's not the case. Poor guy.

I think Lucas has been seeing this coming for a long time. (Meanwhile sipping his tea) Lucas is seeing it, and he will bow out, I believe. And then I think Elizabeth with be taking her ring off.
This is a good analysis and I believe the goal was to convince team Nathan that Elizabeth is running from her feelings for Nathan....however ever since she started dating Lucas they keep having her accelerate that relationship I don't know how they can turn this around or if they will or even if they should....Nathan has been treated awful and so has Allie!
I know!! It’s so hard to watch. But she has made a choice for now and it makes sense to move that forward. Consider Rachel and Christopher’s relationship Elizabeth and Lucas are moving really slow. I actually think Lucas made a big mistake in not kissing her. And Elizabeth not telling him to kiss her despite feeling the heeeeaaaat shows us that well- she doesn’t really long for it THAT much. But once again she can’t go without talking to Nathan for a single day

Alli needs someone to explain relationships to her and Elizabeth could have done a better job. You could predict Alli's reaction when Elizabeth tells her she won't be coming for dinner. I feel Elizabeth missed a prime opportunity to help Alli deal with/ and understand her feelings.

This clip made me believe Elizabeth is running from her feelings for Nathan but tonight's episode showed her being attracted to Lucas so which is it...it's just the writers cruel game of Who will Elizabeth choose? I find myself not liking her at the moment especially after watching a heart broken Allie!
Yes, but we have to remember that right now she’s in it with Lucas. It makes sense for them to have a moment of attraction when they’re spending all that time together. I check in once in awhile to see what's going on with the show but this is exactly why I am so happy I stopped watching after Jack died. I hadn't missed one episode for 5 seasons of their roller coaster ride with will they (Jack and Elizabeth) get together or won't they? Or will they choose a past love?? Then when they do FINALLY get together then Jack goes missing several episodes comes back they get married then off he goes again and then boom dead. I can honestly say I had no desire to keep watching after that and I still feel that way even more so now that I see them teasing fans again with will they (E&N or E&L) or won't they. I'm not on this roller coaster ride 😁 Many fans didn't want another actor to replace Jack to keep the relationship J&E had but yet they would accept her having a relationship with another actor that is not Jack. Elizabeth's husband didn't die in the books and they should had kept it that way even if it meant another actor. There were a lot of fans that would had accepted that, too, including me. I guess some fans don't mind the roller coaster ride or the teasing.
@@JustMe-ec2ph I don't mind- they are giving us a dramatic season BUT it has also never been this REAL. And to be honest, I like her relationship with Nathan much more than her relationship with Jack- there's a depth there, new story to tell (single parenthood), loss, risk...it's just something completely new. Also just love the vulnerability and "silent" strength Nathan's character portrays. I even enjoy Lucas and see a lot of potential for story there- and by now I am very certain that Nathan has been chosen to be the new leading man since S6. So I can enjoy the ride. But I'm with you- they dragged out Jack and Elizabeth getting together and then they lost the actor, I think that's the biggest shame and I don't like that they are risking that again. Replacing D Lissing would've been too big of a risk in my opinion!
I hate this scene because it is so sad but I love your assessment of it and I think it shows what good actors Kevin and Erin are. But Season 8 has just worn me out. Last night after another painful episode 8, I deleted all the shows feom season 8 that I had taped because I really do.not want to see them again. Not even the 2nd show that had this scene in it. I think the writers and producers have done more harm than good this season.
They are amazing actors- you can tell because of how subtle their expressions and body language are: it doesn’t feel like they’re acting, it’s not exaggerated, it’s just great. I get it, this is a tough season. I hated episode 8. I don’t get why they would make Nathan fight for her like this if she is gonna end up with Lucas anyway, so I’m hoping this is where it all changes and the ball goes back to Nathan’s court
Norma I agree....even if Elizabeth ends up with Nathan there is NOTHING about season 8 I would want to watch again! Last night was the FINAL STRAW for me! Continuing this triangle was bad enough but crushing Allie's heart....a girl who has lost her mother and been abandoned by her father....bad forum on the writer's part! This little girl just wants a family and her uncle to be happy! They could have brought in a great woman for Nathan instead of crushing them this whole season if she is going to end up with Lucas but if she is going to end up with Nathan they have now caused serious hurt! Where is HOPE Valley?

Thank you all for your replies. Sometimes I wonder if it is just me but then I see such frustration in so many comments. I am a Christian and I want us all to love each other and get along. I know that is not reality, and it is just a show, but it's what I want. Is Hallmark so desperate for ratings that they would jeopardize losing their viewers? I just think they are better than that and if they have a season 9 they will definitely have to do better than what they have done in season 8. I don't know if anyone has said this already, but I've been thinking it for quite a while and haven't seen it posted anywhere as yet. Not that I've looked everywhere. I think Nathan vs. Lucas is just a replaying, maybe in some more depth, of the Jack vs. Matthew story way back when. Her relationship with Lucas is EXACTLY the same as with her friend in Hamilton, with whom she played the piano. I think his name was Matthew. Sorry if I got that incorrect and threw anybody off. But he wasn't for her. He was too vanilla milt-toast for her. He was easy and comfortable. Nathan recognizes that when he has that funny exchange with Carter a little while back. I predict that she is NOT going to stay with Lucas. It's all still waters there. He's going to be friend-zoned. He even knows it by the way he always tells her he just wants her to be happy. Nathan challenges her. He's the deep waters. He's the family man. He's the steady one. Lucas is simply the male version of herself, not the male counterpart TO herself. I think it's obvious. Oh yeah, and lest we forget, LUCAS IS NOT WHO ELIZABETH THINKS HE IS! He is NOT being square with her. He's hiding stuff.

Charles was never a romantic interest for EliZabeth. They were child hood friends. He liked her but she never had feelings for her. Totally different than Lucas. She has a lot of feelings for Lucas and is attracted to him

I honestly do not think this Love Triangle is realistic. Last Season ended with Elizabeth running into Nathan's Arms. In real life I think Two People would Talk about that by now. Now I get that some would want to avoid it, that part I see. But to start Dating another Man because you are hurt? Dose not even fit her Character even if she is hurt. I could more See her throwing Herself into Her Writing and Teaching. I really feel Hallmark was going for Ratings here. I do not think its playing out well for Hallmark. My Humble Opinion.
I guess for a TV series it's perhaps a little too realistic- it taking her so long to let love in and embrace it fully. You're right they probably dragged it out for ratings- the good thing is that a few women who have lost their husbands and taken a long time to love again will feel comforted seeing their story be told on a show they love. Yes! He’s fighting for her to be honest. Right now she can’t be, it feels dangerous to her. But once she is honest, even if she picks Lucas (not that I think she will) she will be able to give both men the closure they need in this. And not leave things unsaid and any open ends
This was another great analysis video! I am not sure how I feel after the episode tonight! I feel defeated and unsure if Nathan will end up with Elizabeth. I do feel Lucas is hiding something. I just feel so sorry for Allie. She is so determined, but she is hurting so much right now. And it just seems her and Nathan just keep getting kicked while they are down. I just don’t know how Elizabeth can end up with Nathan, with the way she just keeps going forward with Lucas, and I am afraid that there has been so much hurt between them, that they may not can get past that hurt! I do believe that Nathan is the right man for her! I am trying to hang in there and be positive! Keep up the great videos!
I feel just the same. Like some irreparable damage is getting done. I think Nathan is probably tougher than he seems to us the way I saw this episode- he’s gonna go for the ride Elizabeth is taking him on, and he’s ready for it. I didn’t expect that but he really is going for it. That’s a good sign since he’s been holding himself back until now and Lucas was the one romancing her. The tables are turning and it feels like finally Nathan is in charge
This was a good episode for TN because the truth is going to bring healing for both of them. She will finally get a dance with him , and then in episode 10 she will seek to get more information from Nathan about the incident. I am sure it may swing back to Lucas maybe 11 or maybe it will be both. We have no idea who E is picking. I am assuming it's nathan. If it's Lucas it will be a shock/surprise. Hold on until the end!

I find Elizabeths behaviours in the love triangle the most regrettable. She's a mess when it comes to her own heart.Both men deserve a definitive conclusion to this saga.And I don't see her as the great prize either. Both men have so much to give to a willing partner. Thats not Elizabeth.
Remember this: She told Minnie about Jacks death and Minnie said “That must still be fresh for you”. Elizabeth quickly changed the subject. This kind of changed my perspective on her behavior even more. We had a hunch that she wasn’t ready to move on with either guy BECAUSE of Jack, and now we’ve learned that’s true, it’s still fresh, she needs to admit that so she can move on from it.
I think the fact that she would be interested in another Mountie is just lame. They really couldn’t think of a better story line. It is highly unlikely that she’d fall for another one especially when they don’t even spend much time together. I’m just over this story line, finish it up already.
This scene was so pivotal to the Nathan and Elizabeth dynamic.It was really hard watching him hurt while Elizabeth ran off.I felt really bad for Nathan.That man poured his heart out to her.I'm still hopefully Nathan will make a comeback and win Elizabeth's heart.
I loved this scene. Yes, we are going to be very upset if Elizabeth doesn't choose Nathan. If Elizabeth said she is afraid that Nathan is going to get hurt on the job especially with that embrace last season, doesn't that mean that she already has stronger feelings for Nathan than Lucas. When Nathan confessed his feelings...I was screaming..."No, don't tell her your feelings now". OMG! I think this was the first time I was really upset with Elizabeth. This wonderful man just told you that he loves you. I have never seen Nathan this open, assertive, and vulnerable. I mean he was having such a great day before this conversation. Then Elizaberh looks shocked at his confession and her first response is to get on the horse and ride away from him. What! Really! I can't...I am starting to believe that Elizabeth does not deserve Nathan.
AHHH! A beautiful analysis of one of the most pivotal scenes in this the entire season! I have to admit though, I am upset with the lack of integrity we have seen in Elizabeth lately. After Nathan's declaration of love, she hasn't made things 100% clear about their relationship. She just trotted away and seemed fine with leaving things like that, but it didn't really solve anything. Elizabeth is now actively pursuing Lucas, yet she still has not entirely cleared things up with Nathan, and is leading him on, causing him to believe he still has a chance to win her heart. As your analysis showed, Nathan was entirely open and honest with Elizabeth in this scene, exposing all his feelings totally. We see him as totally vulnerable, which has got to be a huge step in his character, since as a Mountie, he has probably been trained to conceal emotion and show strength. His disappointment when Elizabeth just rode away was genuine, and he is still hurting. We get to see the true Nathan in this scene, which is what makes it so special. Also, I love Newton's attitude through the whole thing! XD

It's strange to date someone for so long while still being unsure if you want to be with them. YOu should just not date if you don't know.

It's hard to believe that Elizabeth has aways be a person of reasoning. But she didn't take the time to talk things over with Nathan and help him clarity because it takes time to get over loving someone. Instead she started seeing Lucas. And when Nathan ask about her and Lucas date she played it off by saying it was not a date. At this point she should have stop leading him on.
This was a heartbreaking scene I just ached for Nathan. but Elizabeth is scared she’s afraid to go through what she went through with Jack. so she goes to Lucas because he’s safe. I’m really hoping that Elizabeth wakes up and realizes that Nathan is her man
I am beyond annoyed they have not addressed her feeling for Nathan other then gazing or looking since this episode, she acts like she isnt interested at all and only in annoying lucas. and I just wish theyd sit down and talk and none of this up in the air back and forth that the writters are doing for them.. i love your video you did great breaking this down!!!!!!!
She loves him. You can see it in her eyes. He also says: I know you feel the same way and she doesn’t correct him. She is allowing her feelings of fear to take over and rob her of the happiness she and little Jack would have with Nathan and Allie.
Hi! Taking his past scenes into consideration it’s very difficult to think that he’s cocky. He’s been waiting and waiting and he’s been receiving her signals...and that’s what he’s telling her here: I know you feel the same way, you’ve shown me you do. What he’s expressing is a gut feeling in my opinion.

I am confused on my feelings about this triangle. Lucas is giving Elizabeth a look back at here lifestyle before Hope Valley and she is enjoying it. Nathan and Allie is representing a life that Elizabeth and Jack wanted family. Nathan offers it seems unconditional love without the frills Lucas can provide. I think with Lucas she just has infatuation... but I think in this scene... with Nathan its that he’s basically telling her he could have been the one to have died! And Alli could be without her uncle... but instead shes without a husband...
Maybe Jack had to take Nathan's spot because Ally's parents died at that time and he had to go. I don't know what you guys think? Elizabeth definitely loves Nathan and that won't stop her from loving him. And obviously that's why Nathan keep it a secret cuz he knew it was going to hurt Elizabeth so much that he died. Jack had to replace Nathan because Nathan disobeyed orders and was getting punished for this- they discussed it in the episode he was in court and Bill was defending him and Allie came in crying. But I think Nathan picked hope valley because he felt responsible for Elizabeth- because Jack replacing him and dying left her a widow. He wanted to keep her safe for Jack in order to redeem himself
Ah well you got me there- I left that out😂on purpose. I was unsure if she had planned to meet him out there. She looked surprised to see him so that threw me off. Maybe her saying “Oh my goodness” was just shock to see him there. BUT her saying it in that manner and with that body language is definitely her bracing herself for what’s to come. She is just thinking out loud “Oh gosh, I have to do this now”. Anyone else wanna jump in here and tell us their assessment?
When Elizabeth says she doesn't know where to begin, Nathan says, "Ah, here, let me..." and he puts his hand out. What is your take on that? Was he going to ask her to sit down? Or maybe direct the conversation in a different way? That part has me confused.
I think he guessed what she was goung to say and wanted to calm her dawn (he starts to speak first and calm down with heands) Elizabeth is afraid of this love, thats why she knew that if she said this first, then it would be hard for her leave him...When Nathan begins to speak she runs away because only escape is her rescue...
Hi Sylvia, my take on it is he was trying to say "Let me go first", he sensed something was off and was going to tell her that he cares about her as more than just friends.
Great video! Also something I've noticed, if Lucas is endgame, then why would Elizabeth even care about how she would feel if she lost Nathan? Not trying to be rude at all, but like isn't that just proof that she and Nathan are the ones who are endgame??
Nathan is about fighting for love, Elizabeth’s love. But how much can a man be rejected? She’s messed up emotionally because of Jacks death. She will heal but will she give her heart to another mounty? That’s the elephant in the room!
In an I interview, B. Bird said it was a pivotal scene bc she rode straight to Jack's field! And apparently she also did that after an argument with Jack!
This scene stresses me out. She doesn't want to get hurt, so she hurts someone she loves and herself and Lucas. Kind of like a bomb about to go off. Nathan looks so crushed, she looks miserable. Ahhhh! Great acting! Still hard for me to watch because of all the misery this scene has led to though.
After seeing this last episode I am really worried that they are having her go with Lucas. I am holding onto the last strain of hope that she chooses Nathan.
I know- that was so hard to watch. The way they argues about Allie gave me hope though, they just have this chemistry she doesn’t have with Lucas. They are real friends and they want the same things in life. I mean come on, Lucas is all about his business and winning. I don’t see him settling down with Elizabeth on their own land, planting their vegetable garden, building a porch swing , painting a house...I see Nathan doing that, NOT Lucas
I feel like Nathan is the more realistic choice, while Lucas is the fairytale choice. The realistic choice isn’t as fun in the beginning but it leads to years of love, while the fairytale choice, all the fire fizzles out in the beginning and then you’re left with someone you realize you hardly know and who you’re not compatible with. It seems like she’s pursuing Lucas at full speed ahead bc she’s running away from Nathan and the fear of facing the same excruciating pain she experienced with Jack’s death. But if she continues that way, she’ll discover in years time she made a huge mistake, to make a decision out of fear and not from the heart.
Agree with almost everything you’re saying- except, she’s pursuing Lucas in turtle slow motion speed. If she was ready to be with him, she would’ve long held his hand in front of others, or kissed him. 100% Nathan is the guy that keeps the love coming even in the long run! It can fizzle out pretty quick, especially when everyday life with kids and work hits you. She definitely has to process the pain of Jacks love in order to move on- maybe reread his letter

Sorry but this scene proves it should be Nathan and not Lucas. That is why I stopped watching the show and hope it gets cancelled. The writers played with viewers emotion and made Elizabeth to be a jerk who plays with a man's emotions to throw them in his face and drive a knife in his heart. Will never watch another episode of this show again.
This scene was beautiful but heart breaking. She loved him. She was just fearful. When Calls the Heart took us on a roller-coaster ride with Elizabeth rejecting Nathan. Then Elizabeth trying to move on with Lucas because he was safe. Elizabeth dumped Lucas (which WCTH took to far-they never should have gotten engaged in the first place) because she knew he was the safe choice not a great love like Jack. Lucas and Elizabeth may had some physical attraction (lust, not true love or maybe it was a safe love like the writing team says, but honestly I saw lust when L & E kissed) but she was missing the deep connection and love she had for Nathan. At least WCTH is getting Nathan and Elizabeth back on the right track in S11. I love this gentle love comes softly storyline. They are dancing in the next preview for Sunday's show. WCTH better be done with the triangle and have Elizabeth date and marry Nathan with them blending their families together!

I love your videos! It's just so discouraging. I haven't watched this season yet but am hoping to binge it when I know she chooses Nathan...but by the looks of it...I really don't know who she will choose. signs point to Nathan...but they said it would be a shocking ending...and some people have posted parallels with Elizabeth and Lucas and it just makes me nervous lol.

Elizabeth is one big messed up rollercoaster ride of emotional baggage. She is not marriage material she can't even figure out her own truth let alone be faithful to Lucas or anyone.
I agree. They belong together and even though he does such a good job bringing up Allie- she is at an age now where she needs a mother and Elizabeth is great at being a mother and a teacher. She is also great at being a mountie’s wife.

I’ve never doubted that Nathan will end up with Elizabeth....Lucas has just been a charming smooth distraction ..,she has stuffed her feelings down for Nathan all season long and Lucas has been there dining her charming her ...he’s there every step of the way any time she talks to Nathan he’s right there snd he is definitely taking advantage of the situation of Nathan being aloof and it’s eventually going to come to a head and I have a feeling that Lucas is now figuring out that she does not love him but loves Nathan and I think he’s going to be the one who bows out gracefully. She’s clearly been running away from her feelings mainly fear that she could lose Nathan the same way she lost Jack and that’s a painful reminder...And what do we do when we don’t want to face pain we stuff our feelings down whether it’s food.. drink-gamble men.... but she’s going to have to have a heart to heart talk with herself and with Nathan ...but Elizabeth will end up with him! She may have feelings of love and definitely attraction for Lucas but she is IN love with Nathan... and now that he’s finally stepping up and is going to fight for her it should be a great outcome for all of us on Team Nathan!!!
When Nathan catches up with her as she retreats, he says "I know you feel the same way as I do." She does NOT deny it one bit. That's all I need to know. ;)

I counted this season, six episodes end in a Nathan scene. Opposed to four Lucas. When a story teller closes a certain way to set up the possibilities for the next story, it tells you something.

Few things I noticed in this: Elizabeth never says that she doesn't love nathan or have feelings for him, in fact she says that he means a lot to her. The biggest thing and reason why it is taking her all season to come around to it is because she is scared and feels guilty. She says "I can't" not I don't want to. And she also says "It will just hurt too much if I lose you." She is only doing this to protect herself from potentially getting hurt again.
I think it's definitely her fear that she moved away from N and toward L, not her love for L. I think they have things in common, but I think her heart is with N, she's just holding onto her fear for protection. I'm hoping she will see this for herself. Fingers crossed! lol
I know Elizabeth belongs with Nathan. The writers just have to figure it out. There is no way that 😢she can be with Lucas. It would be a big crime.
She did say it at the end of season 9. " I love you but I'm not in love with you."

Do not give up hope! When Nathan told her I know you feel the same way about me, she did not say, I don't...she said I can't...that speaks volumes to me. That means she is fighting her feelings because she is afraid to love another Mountie again, but like it or not, it has already happened--that is why she ran off so fast. If she stayed, she might have given in to it. Remember when she cried to Jack and told him she did not think she was brave enough to love someone as brave as him? I think that's what we have here.
Yes! Glad it will be addressed next episode- I can’t just means a physical inability to do something and I’d hope she doesn’t chose Lucas just because her loss of Jack makes it hard to let Nathan in
And I feel like Rosemary's reaction to Elizabeth's telling her of what happened with Nathan, Rosemary says, "Who knows what could have happened between you two if you hadn't left!" (Not exact words) Why, Rosemary, whatever could have happened?

Yes Elizabeth and Nathan all the way...they have so much chemistry not just a picnic, or a walk in the park. Love is worth fighting for, he never gave up loving her. Even if she chooses Lucas something about him, coming out next season, may turn her off and make her realize.
She cares way way too much for someone who does not love him. You can not shut them feelings down. When she thinks he got injured, was shot, was missing, she was devastated. She is just afraid to love him. There is a lot. She has been torn in emotions.
I’m so happy you analyzed this so we could slow down and take it all in. The scene was so quick that it was hard to focus on all the layers of what was going on. I just hate that he didn’t buy the land- he and Allie would still love it.

There was honestly still so much to unpack in last night's episode between them. She confronted him at first in regards to Ally. He expresses that he's been trying to tell Ally it isn't Elizabeth's fault. Elizabeth actually takes the blame and says she should blame her. At that point, it's like what is Elizabeth expecting from Nathan? Nathan's talked to Ally. Ally's upset. Elizabeth thinks Ally should be upset. So what are you looking for? And again she brought up fear. She consistently brings up being afraid in regards to Nathan. "I Can't be with you because you could get killed," "I was afraid something would happen with Ally if we got together.." well now it has. She consistently says she's afraid.
In my opinion, this speaks volumes. They even have a scene where Nathan gives her the plaque that expresses to do what you are afraid to do. Elizabeth needs to face her fears.
Nathan also has not had the opportunity to really go on a date with Elizabeth. She tried to incite it throughout last season but Nathan always held back. We know why now. Elizabeth consistently pulls back from Lucas. I often wonder if she would with Nathan. We don't know. They've never had a date. This is another reason I think Nathan is endgame. I can't see them telling us this is a love triangle that won't end until the very end and have a long slowburn romance for it to be Lucas. There's too much Nathan and Elizabeth need to get through. And that includes her fears.
Love your last paragraph, so so so true. We don’t know really what she’d be like if Nathan and her got more romantic.
About Allie, Elizabeth said she was afraid this was gonna happen if things didn’t work out between her and Nathan, if they didn’t get together. And it has happened. You’re right, it would make much more sense for her to be with Nathan- she doesn’t deny her feelings for him AT ALL. She cares about him and his daughter. She can’t really move forward with Lucas. It’s just all of these things that show that there’s such a deep connection between them...I don’t see that with Lucas. They’re just- similar, in what they like, and they both speak French, and were initially higher class BUT that’s not what you should build a marriage upon. Right?
I don't know, maybe Nathan push her away to the point where he push her right into Lucas arms, Lucas knows that there's something between Nathan and elizabeth, he can see it with his eyes; I know Lucas said he doesn't have a problem with Elizabeth friendship with Nathan from the episode we just watched we now know he's lying; Lucas seem to have a big problem with it. In his head he want that to happen but in his heart he knows where her heart is.

This scence leads you to believe it's Nathan but the writers and actors have done a good job making it look like it could go either way ...Nathan or Lucas! After tonight's episode....seeing Allie so hurt, I'm disappointed that the triangle is going on until the end! Just end this mess and heal Nathan and Allie's hearts even if that means a BETTER woman for Nathan! I love them and the suffering they have been through this season is SO WRONG!

Elizabeth always runs away when things get too much. Back in season 4 when Jack told her he was leaving indefinitely, she ran out of the church and told Jack to 'just leave me alone'. I think she is trying to force herself to like Lucas because he doesn't touch her heart. She can maintain a level of detachment and so he feels safe.
I think so too, he feels safe because he doesn’t make her face any demons. Right?
Just had another thought. I bet Nathan.and Allie are now wishing he had taken that promotion. Especially Allie. Poor thing not only has to deal with her feelings but she has to see her Uncle Nathan hurting too. What a mess!
I know! She gets what’s going on and it is unfair to not even give her uncle a chance😾but she has to learn to respect someone else’s feelings. I hope we see Allie being okay with Elizabeth dating Lucas because that way we can be certain that Elizabeth won’t later on get together with him just for Allies sake!

I really like the play by play breakdown, too. I think Elizabeth is only superficially attracted to Lucas because of the romancing. She is attracted to Nathan even without it. We will know what the writers want soon enough.

I'm hoping that after Lucas asks Elizabeth what she said here, she'll realize she's meant to be with Nathan. She never denied feelings here. If she didn't feel for him all she had to do was tell him. Instead she said "I can't." It seems obvious, especially in this scene, she has feelings for him, but is too afraid to take a chance. Also even though I'm not team Lucas, I feel bad he's probably going to get his heartbroken in the next episode. Elizabeth hasn't elaborated on this with him. All he knows is that she said she can't give him what he wants, which means he probably thinks she doesn't have any feelings for Nathan. But if she tells him the whole story, I think he'll realize that's not the case. Poor guy.

I would feel bad for him, but he knew this in season 7 when she hugged Nathan so passionately when she thought he was shot.
I think Lucas has been seeing this coming for a long time. (Meanwhile sipping his tea) Lucas is seeing it, and he will bow out, I believe. And then I think Elizabeth with be taking her ring off.

This is a good analysis and I believe the goal was to convince team Nathan that Elizabeth is running from her feelings for Nathan....however ever since she started dating Lucas they keep having her accelerate that relationship I don't know how they can turn this around or if they will or even if they should....Nathan has been treated awful and so has Allie!
I know!! It’s so hard to watch. But she has made a choice for now and it makes sense to move that forward. Consider Rachel and Christopher’s relationship Elizabeth and Lucas are moving really slow. I actually think Lucas made a big mistake in not kissing her. And Elizabeth not telling him to kiss her despite feeling the heeeeaaaat shows us that well- she doesn’t really long for it THAT much. But once again she can’t go without talking to Nathan for a single day

Alli needs someone to explain relationships to her and Elizabeth could have done a better job. You could predict Alli's reaction when Elizabeth tells her she won't be coming for dinner. I feel Elizabeth missed a prime opportunity to help Alli deal with/ and understand her feelings.

I check in once in awhile to see what's going on with the show but this is exactly why I am so happy I stopped watching after Jack died.
I hadn't missed one episode for 5 seasons of their roller coaster ride with will they (Jack and Elizabeth) get together or won't they? Or will they choose a past love?? Then when they do FINALLY get together then Jack goes missing several episodes comes back they get married then off he goes again and then boom dead. I can honestly say I had no desire to keep watching after that and I still feel that way even more so now that I see them teasing fans again with will they (E&N or E&L) or won't they. I'm not on this roller coaster ride 😁
Many fans didn't want another actor to replace Jack to keep the relationship J&E had but yet they would accept her having a relationship with another actor that is not Jack.
Elizabeth's husband didn't die in the books and they should had kept it that way even if it meant another actor. There were a lot of fans that would had accepted that, too, including me.
I guess some fans don't mind the roller coaster ride or the teasing.
@@JustMe-ec2ph I don't mind- they are giving us a dramatic season BUT it has also never been this REAL. And to be honest, I like her relationship with Nathan much more than her relationship with Jack- there's a depth there, new story to tell (single parenthood), loss, risk...it's just something completely new. Also just love the vulnerability and "silent" strength Nathan's character portrays.
I even enjoy Lucas and see a lot of potential for story there- and by now I am very certain that Nathan has been chosen to be the new leading man since S6. So I can enjoy the ride.
But I'm with you- they dragged out Jack and Elizabeth getting together and then they lost the actor, I think that's the biggest shame and I don't like that they are risking that again. Replacing D Lissing would've been too big of a risk in my opinion!

I hate this scene because it is so sad but I love your assessment of it and I think it shows what good actors Kevin and Erin are. But Season 8 has just worn me out. Last night after another painful episode 8, I deleted all the shows feom season 8 that I had taped because I really do.not want to see them again. Not even the 2nd show that had this scene in it. I think the writers and producers have done more harm than good this season.
They are amazing actors- you can tell because of how subtle their expressions and body language are: it doesn’t feel like they’re acting, it’s not exaggerated, it’s just great.
I get it, this is a tough season. I hated episode 8. I don’t get why they would make Nathan fight for her like this if she is gonna end up with Lucas anyway, so I’m hoping this is where it all changes and the ball goes back to Nathan’s court
Norma I agree....even if Elizabeth ends up with Nathan there is NOTHING about season 8 I would want to watch again! Last night was the FINAL STRAW for me! Continuing this triangle was bad enough but crushing Allie's heart....a girl who has lost her mother and been abandoned by her father....bad forum on the writer's part! This little girl just wants a family and her uncle to be happy! They could have brought in a great woman for Nathan instead of crushing them this whole season if she is going to end up with Lucas but if she is going to end up with Nathan they have now caused serious hurt! Where is HOPE Valley?

I know that is not reality, and it is just a show, but it's what I want. Is Hallmark so desperate for ratings that they would jeopardize losing their viewers? I just think they are better than that and if they have a season 9 they will definitely have to do better than what they have done in season 8. I don't know if anyone has said this already, but I've been thinking it for quite a while and haven't seen it posted anywhere as yet. Not that I've looked everywhere. I think Nathan vs. Lucas is just a replaying, maybe in some more depth, of the Jack vs. Matthew story way back when. Her relationship with Lucas is EXACTLY the same as with her friend in Hamilton, with whom she played the piano. I think his name was Matthew. Sorry if I got that incorrect and threw anybody off. But he wasn't for her. He was too vanilla milt-toast for her. He was easy and comfortable. Nathan recognizes that when he has that funny exchange with Carter a little while back. I predict that she is NOT going to stay with Lucas. It's all still waters there. He's going to be friend-zoned. He even knows it by the way he always tells her he just wants her to be happy. Nathan challenges her. He's the deep waters. He's the family man. He's the steady one. Lucas is simply the male version of herself, not the male counterpart TO herself. I think it's obvious. Oh yeah, and lest we forget, LUCAS IS NOT WHO ELIZABETH THINKS HE IS! He is NOT being square with her. He's hiding stuff.

Charles was never a romantic interest for EliZabeth. They were child hood friends. He liked her but she never had feelings for her. Totally different than Lucas. She has a lot of feelings for Lucas and is attracted to him

I honestly do not think this Love Triangle is realistic. Last Season ended with Elizabeth running into Nathan's Arms. In real life I think Two People would Talk about that by now.
Now I get that some would want to avoid it, that part I see. But to start Dating another Man because you are hurt? Dose not even fit her Character even if she is hurt. I could more See her throwing Herself into Her Writing and Teaching. I really feel Hallmark was going for Ratings here. I do not think its playing out well for Hallmark. My Humble Opinion.
I guess for a TV series it's perhaps a little too realistic- it taking her so long to let love in and embrace it fully. You're right they probably dragged it out for ratings- the good thing is that a few women who have lost their husbands and taken a long time to love again will feel comforted seeing their story be told on a show they love. Yes! He’s fighting for her to be honest. Right now she can’t be, it feels dangerous to her. But once she is honest, even if she picks Lucas (not that I think she will) she will be able to give both men the closure they need in this. And not leave things unsaid and any open ends
This was another great analysis video! I am not sure how I feel after the episode tonight! I feel defeated and unsure if Nathan will end up with Elizabeth. I do feel Lucas is hiding something. I just feel so sorry for Allie. She is so determined, but she is hurting so much right now. And it just seems her and Nathan just keep getting kicked while they are down. I just don’t know how Elizabeth can end up with Nathan, with the way she just keeps going forward with Lucas, and I am afraid that there has been so much hurt between them, that they may not can get past that hurt! I do believe that Nathan is the right man for her! I am trying to hang in there and be positive! Keep up the great videos!
I feel just the same. Like some irreparable damage is getting done. I think Nathan is probably tougher than he seems to us the way I saw this episode- he’s gonna go for the ride Elizabeth is taking him on, and he’s ready for it. I didn’t expect that but he really is going for it. That’s a good sign since he’s been holding himself back until now and Lucas was the one romancing her. The tables are turning and it feels like finally Nathan is in charge
This was a good episode for TN because the truth is going to bring healing for both of them. She will finally get a dance with him , and then in episode 10 she will seek to get more information from Nathan about the incident. I am sure it may swing back to Lucas maybe 11 or maybe it will be both. We have no idea who E is picking. I am assuming it's nathan. If it's Lucas it will be a shock/surprise. Hold on until the end!

I find Elizabeths behaviours in the love triangle the most regrettable. She's a mess when it comes to her own heart.Both men deserve a definitive conclusion to this saga.And I don't see her as the great prize either. Both men have so much to give to a willing partner. Thats not Elizabeth.
Remember this: She told Minnie about Jacks death and Minnie said “That must still be fresh for you”. Elizabeth quickly changed the subject. This kind of changed my perspective on her behavior even more. We had a hunch that she wasn’t ready to move on with either guy BECAUSE of Jack, and now we’ve learned that’s true, it’s still fresh, she needs to admit that so she can move on from it.
Other than that I agree, she isn’t a prize at all right now, she’s a mess. We all are at times and I hope she stops making others clean up after her
I think the fact that she would be interested in another Mountie is just lame. They really couldn’t think of a better story line. It is highly unlikely that she’d fall for another one especially when they don’t even spend much time together. I’m just over this story line, finish it up already.

This scene was so pivotal to the Nathan and Elizabeth dynamic.It was really hard watching him hurt while Elizabeth ran off.I felt really bad for Nathan.That man poured his heart out to her.I'm still hopefully Nathan will make a comeback and win Elizabeth's heart.

I loved this scene. Yes, we are going to be very upset if Elizabeth doesn't choose Nathan. If Elizabeth said she is afraid that Nathan is going to get hurt on the job especially with that embrace last season, doesn't that mean that she already has stronger feelings for Nathan than Lucas.
When Nathan confessed his feelings...I was screaming..."No, don't tell her your feelings now". OMG! I think this was the first time I was really upset with Elizabeth. This wonderful man just told you that he loves you. I have never seen Nathan this open, assertive, and vulnerable. I mean he was having such a great day before this conversation. Then Elizaberh looks shocked at his confession and her first response is to get on the horse and ride away from him. What! Really! I can't...I am starting to believe that Elizabeth does not deserve Nathan.

AHHH! A beautiful analysis of one of the most pivotal scenes in this the entire season! I have to admit though, I am upset with the lack of integrity we have seen in Elizabeth lately. After Nathan's declaration of love, she hasn't made things 100% clear about their relationship. She just trotted away and seemed fine with leaving things like that, but it didn't really solve anything. Elizabeth is now actively pursuing Lucas, yet she still has not entirely cleared things up with Nathan, and is leading him on, causing him to believe he still has a chance to win her heart. As your analysis showed, Nathan was entirely open and honest with Elizabeth in this scene, exposing all his feelings totally. We see him as totally vulnerable, which has got to be a huge step in his character, since as a Mountie, he has probably been trained to conceal emotion and show strength. His disappointment when Elizabeth just rode away was genuine, and he is still hurting. We get to see the true Nathan in this scene, which is what makes it so special. Also, I love Newton's attitude through the whole thing! XD

It's hard to believe that Elizabeth has aways be a person of reasoning. But she didn't take the time to talk things over with Nathan and help him clarity because it takes time to get over loving someone. Instead she started seeing Lucas. And when Nathan ask about her and Lucas date she played it off by saying it was not a date. At this point she should have stop leading him on.

He’s been waiting and waiting and he’s been receiving her signals...and that’s what he’s telling her here: I know you feel the same way, you’ve shown me you do. I am confused on my feelings about this triangle. Lucas is giving Elizabeth a look back at here lifestyle before Hope Valley and she is enjoying it. Nathan and Allie is representing a life that Elizabeth and Jack wanted family. Nathan offers it seems unconditional love without the frills Lucas can provide. I still not sure Lucas background has been clearly shown. From the story line I am a little distrustful of Lucas. IJS.

Jack had to replace Nathan because Nathan disobeyed orders and was getting punished for this- they discussed it in the episode he was in court and Bill was defending him and Allie came in crying.
But I think Nathan picked hope valley because he felt responsible for Elizabeth- because Jack replacing him and dying left her a widow. He wanted to keep her safe for Jack in order to redeem himself

I was unsure if she had planned to meet him out there. She looked surprised to see him so that threw me off. Maybe her saying “Oh my goodness” was just shock to see him there. BUT her saying it in that manner and with that body language is definitely her bracing herself for what’s to come. She is just thinking out loud “Oh gosh, I have to do this now”.

I think he guessed what she was goung to say and wanted to calm her dawn (he starts to speak first and calm down with heands) Elizabeth is afraid of this love, thats why she knew that if she said this first, then it would be hard for her leave him...When Nathan begins to speak she runs away because only escape is her rescue...
Hi Sylvia, my take on it is he was trying to say "Let me go first", he sensed something was off and was going to tell her that he cares about her as more than just friends.

This scene stresses me out. She doesn't want to get hurt, so she hurts someone she loves and herself and Lucas. Kind of like a bomb about to go off. Nathan looks so crushed, she looks miserable. Ahhhh! Great acting! Still hard for me to watch because of all the misery this scene has led to though.

After seeing this last episode I am really worried that they are having her go with Lucas. I am holding onto the last strain of hope that she chooses Nathan.
I know- that was so hard to watch. The way they argues about Allie gave me hope though, they just have this chemistry she doesn’t have with Lucas. They are real friends and they want the same things in life. I mean come on, Lucas is all about his business and winning. I don’t see him settling down with Elizabeth on their own land, planting their vegetable garden, building a porch swing , painting a house...I see Nathan doing that, NOT Lucas

I feel like Nathan is the more realistic choice, while Lucas is the fairytale choice. The realistic choice isn’t as fun in the beginning but it leads to years of love, while the fairytale choice, all the fire fizzles out in the beginning and then you’re left with someone you realize you hardly know and who you’re not compatible with. It seems like she’s pursuing Lucas at full speed ahead bc she’s running away from Nathan and the fear of facing the same excruciating pain she experienced with Jack’s death. But if she continues that way, she’ll discover in years time she made a huge mistake, to make a decision out of fear and not from the heart.
Agree with almost everything you’re saying- except, she’s pursuing Lucas in turtle slow motion speed. If she was ready to be with him, she would’ve long held his hand in front of others, or kissed him.
100% Nathan is the guy that keeps the love coming even in the long run! It can fizzle out pretty quick, especially when everyday life with kids and work hits you.
She definitely has to process the pain of Jacks love in order to move on- maybe reread his letter

Sorry but this scene proves it should be Nathan and not Lucas. That is why I stopped watching the show and hope it gets cancelled. The writers played with viewers emotion and made Elizabeth to be a jerk who plays with a man's emotions to throw them in his face and drive a knife in his heart. Will never watch another episode of this show again.

This scene was beautiful but heart breaking. She loved him. She was just fearful. When Calls the Heart took us on a roller-coaster ride with Elizabeth rejecting Nathan. Then Elizabeth trying to move on with Lucas because he was safe. Elizabeth dumped Lucas (which WCTH took to far-they never should have gotten engaged in the first place) because she knew he was the safe choice not a great love like Jack. Lucas and Elizabeth may had some physical attraction (lust, not true love or maybe it was a safe love like the writing team says, but honestly I saw lust when L & E kissed) but she was missing the deep connection and love she had for Nathan. At least WCTH is getting Nathan and Elizabeth back on the right track in S11. I love this gentle love comes softly storyline. They are dancing in the next preview for Sunday's show. WCTH better be done with the triangle and have Elizabeth date and marry Nathan with them blending their families together!

I haven't watched this season yet but am hoping to binge it when I know she chooses Nathan...but by the looks of it...I really don't know who she will choose. signs point to Nathan...but they said it would be a shocking ending...and some people have posted parallels with Elizabeth and Lucas and it just makes me nervous lol.

I’ve never doubted that Nathan will end up with Elizabeth....Lucas has just been a charming smooth distraction ..,she has stuffed her feelings down for Nathan all season long and Lucas has been there dining her charming her ...he’s there every step of the way any time she talks to Nathan he’s right there snd he is definitely taking advantage of the situation of Nathan being aloof and it’s eventually going to come to a head and I have a feeling that Lucas is now figuring out that she does not love him but loves Nathan and I think he’s going to be the one who bows out gracefully. She’s clearly been running away from her feelings mainly fear that she could lose Nathan the same way she lost Jack and that’s a painful reminder...And what do we do when we don’t want to face pain we stuff our feelings down whether it’s food.. drink-gamble men.... but she’s going to have to have a heart to heart talk with herself and with Nathan ...but Elizabeth will end up with him! She may have feelings of love and definitely attraction for Lucas but she is IN love with Nathan... and now that he’s finally stepping up and is going to fight for her it should be a great outcome for all of us on Team Nathan!!!

She's really in love with Lucas,she just don't want tell Nathan because she doesn't want to hurt him.
When Nathan catches up with her as she retreats, he says "I know you feel the same way as I do." She does NOT deny it one bit. That's all I need to know. ;)
