Business class is up top. First class is on the main deck. But, I’ve flown in the upper deck of the 747 before, and it is an experience like no other… you can’t even tell that you’re on a huge 747!
Actually, who opens the door is generally decided on by aircraft type. For example, on 737 aircraft, the arming of the door is a manual process that must be done by a flight attendant squatting to arm or disarm the slide. There is no fail safe built in to ensure the slide wouldn’t blow if someone opened it from the outside. As a result, most 737 operators require crew members inside to open the door as a safety precaution. Did you notice in this video that Thai’s 747 procedure is to have the door verified by another FA prior to opening it? Right before she grabs the handle, she points to the arming lever and her colleague acknowledges it. On newer Airbus aircraft, there is a failsafe mechanism that disarms an armed door automatically when it’s opened from the outside. For this reason, ground staff generally will handle opening and closing the door on these planes.

It is rare to see a flight attendant open a door in the airport before disembarking, normally ground crew would do that
Yes, actually so.
