- Boeing 747 low landings at St Maarten - Those were the days. KLM used to operate at least three weekly Boeing 747 flights from Amsterdam to St Maarten and sadly they stopped operating these flights cause the Airbus A330-200 is much more efficient on this particular route. It was a very sad moment for all aviation enthusiasts around the world when KLM officially announced the end of the Boeing 747 operations at Saint Maarten. Another Boeing 747 operator which frequently passed Maho Beach used to be Corsair but they also replaced the Boeing 747 with an Airbus A330-200 in their Orly flights. Currently even Air France reduced the flights for Paris from an Airbus A340 to an Airbus A330.
Doesn` t change the fact that Maho Beach is on of the most amazing beaches in the world if you are interested in aviation. It` s definitly the biggest tourist attraction on the island and I am pretty sure we will return to this beautiful island one day.

I had the opportunity to fly in an Air China 747 from Pyongyang to Singapore for my first meeting with Donald Trump. As much as I love the jumbo jet, I prefer to travel with my private train. Simply because I was raised with Thomas the Tank Engine. Planes may show you the big picture, but trains take you deep within that picture.
This is the best I've watched of take offs and landings at St Maarten! The view from the mountain side is fabulous!

No cheesy music needed to interfere with the majestic travels of these planes as they make difficult landings seem routine. And without the terrible music, you can really appreciate the power of their engines.

I just love that the only thing to do on Saint Martin for entertainment is to watch the planes leaving Saint Martin.
And, the planes arriving with more people excited to watch more planes leave.
Seen it many times myself but still a marvellous sight and sound never gets old.

Yes, a woman was killed when she was blown into the stone wall separating the beach from the fence. There is a warning sign injury or death can occur from the jet’s powerful blasts. 🛬
Sadly, someone died due to this in 2017.

We went here. It was Super cool. It’s like instant exfoliation lol no joke. The sand comes flying at you so fast. It can hurt but it’s a cool sight to see for sure.

AIR FRANCE is the best way to arrive without luggage, when you start writing them claims, they will not answer you for a month, and a month later when they answer they will say we are very sorry, but we don't know anything. I will never fly AIR FRANCE again.

RACAL Defence, MEL-> Military Electronics Limited, Stoner Communications, PYE Tel, All kinds of Electro-Medical Systems in Hospitals, Artificial Insemination plants, Security Systems, etc. I was Technical Manager for these Systems and I am from the Island of Zanzibar. Lived in DAR some years. In US/Canada right now. Long Live Sir, SALUTE🙏👌I am on c4i and EW Systems. In NAVAIDS, it wasn't the RA(Radio Altimeter) problem in the US. Everyone were concerned about 5G. The frequency bands are tight in the US, so care had to be taken. I put in-line RF filters to the antennas. Problem was the US FAA & FCC. The Guard Bands were the problem.

I have been to the capital of Netherlands which is Amsterdam, and I went there in the July holidays, like about 4 years ago.
It’s almost like KLM painted their planes to match the beautiful ocean just for this airport 👍👍
