This country is fukcked. Cut your losses.Even in Canada u wait a whole day for a doctor in a que.
There is just no money to fund this..the country is going to plunge into debt poverty
Look at the disaster of the government hospitals and you want more of that??? Why don't you try fixing the mess in government hospitals and leave private insurance alone!!! We are a 3rd world country not a first world country
Quite right, when does this government get it into it's head that you cannot impose 1st world values on a 3rd world country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Doesn't even work in first world countries like Canada. People rather go to the US from Canada, not the other way around.
It isn't working in Canada or Ireland...the waiting period to see a dr or go for urgent sergeries are long!!People flee to the US from Canada just to get these surgeries done..
bullshit
Philly Dee. Exactly. It is absolutely ghastly the waiting time to see a specialist in Canada for a patient that needs the attention .
I live in Canada. It depends on the province-Works ok in serious emergencies; however, if you need an MRI or knee or hip replacement or rotator cuff surgery, good luck - 3-6 years wait times depending on the province
Funny! That sounds like Bushbuckridge this day, BEFORE the NHI.
We are been driven, as a collective, to the abyss that awaits us.
R.I.P Arvitha , love you always
"Obviously"
"Like I said"
🤦🏽

Here they go again, the Almost Never Correct ones
Someone has forgatten about what happened in Zambia in the 1960's. All highly qualified medical personel left Zambia almost over night.
The only people who will really suffer is the poor and middle class population of South Africa.
I dare say, the poor and middle class population is already screwed. Pardon my lack of imagination: how bad can it really get?
Socialism
they study for 7 years and still practice lol
Such ignorance.
NHI clearly states to address what she says we lack behind e.g: infrastructure.
And it's also clear in her reasoning that she has not personally attended the NHI consultation forums where all she is worried about have been responded to.
NHI is here to stay and just because there is 1 area of concern doesn't mean it's going to fail as she alluded.
Do you demolish your whole house just because there is 1 leak on your roof?
This is about patients and access to quality healthcare "for all". Something the Private sector doesn't care about.
NHI is a dudd ... this will just help this country migrate to a new standard of mediocrity. I work in the healthcare sector too, and seemingly most people dont realise this yet - but state based healthcare is a shambles. I dont blame more doctors for wanting to leave our country ... they must make a living too. Wait until they go on strike too.
But none of the current nationalised entities have worked.. South Africa's economy has been crippled by corruption and now the taxpayers are exoected to bail out these failed entities. When you raise taxes, you also inflate the prices of goods and services and the people who suffer most are the already impoverished. This corrupt government cannot handle nationalised healthcare. You and your family will suffer from long waiting times and poor healthcare. Even Canada can't execute this properly and their economy is far better than ours. It is a lovely sentiment to want everyone to have healthcare, but doing it this way will only lead to more suffering.
Where are you going to get the money "for all"? Electricity "for all" is not working why would this huh? First tell me why government hospitals are not working and fix it then maybe we can talk No Health Industry....
There is so much more wrong with this than just your "1 leaky roof" analogy I don't even know where to start
@MRTiGzoruA You have a good point. Private drs knows they have to provide quality service otherwise they loose patients. Drs in government hospitals know their pay will be there at the end of the month even it they do not provide good service to the patients.
Drs please leave
