A gym membership or a weight set at home. It is said men lose about 1% of muscle each year after the age of 40. We must do some kind a resistance training.
I would talk to a doctor about creatine, because the research on creatine is mixed. Creatine has not gone through the same FDA standard as medicine because it is a supplement.
There are so many studies that suggest that but at 46 I'm stronger, leaner and more muscular than I've ever been in my life. No steroids or crazy workouts either. Just 3-4 days a week at the gym. Funny thing is most of the guys I work with are Just like me. One of my coworkers is almost 60. He recently took a picture with ex NFL player Bart Scott if you didn't know you'd think he was the younger ex NFL player.
My daddy told me when you go to an event a gentleman should always carry a pocket knife for any utility task and a clean handkerchief for his lady in case she needs it. There have been many times when I have given my handkerchief to an emotionally touched lady at weddings, funerals and other ceremonies. I buy extras and sometimes tell them to keep it. Also every man needs a shoe care kit and needs to know how to condition and polish his shoes... thank you for the video.
I heard some folklore about some dude back in the day that no matter what he did that day, whether he just walked in the park, or worked on a muddy construction site. He always made time to clean, and shine his shoes at the end of the day for the next. I don't know how true this is, but I heard it somewhere.
Al Roker Because they work like this. You can get a million dollars loan in America when in Europe you would get half of it. Dude!!! You are sooo on point!!! Most all of those things I have and have had long before 40. But I agree, certainly by 40 a man should have ALL (and on some items, several) of the things you mentioned.
Very much liked this list. Especially the book collection. I couldn't agree more. People think it's stupid that I buy so many books. I love em. I have a kindle too but when it's a book I really care about, I want it in physical form so I can read it over and over or lend it out. And I like it on my bookshelf. That was a pleasant surprise on this list. Just because it's a style channel so I just didn't expect it but good on you brotha.
@@TheStyleOG Ohhh! This man really does have class! Responds to his followers just like that. Good man. Thanks for the welcome I think I'll stick around a while :)
One of the things I would add, Mr The Style OG, to go along with the toolbox is your own personal Get Up and Go Bag for emergency situations depending on where you live!!..
@@saucecastillo460 This bag is intended for situations that deal with disasters, it's for safety needs ie floods, earthquakes, things of that sort, they are designed for safety needs for you and another person if a disaster was to happen in your area they contain food, and such things in Lue of the Toolbox,A gentleman needs to be ready for all situations
This video has now made me a fan of the channel. As a person about to turn 40 next year, I can definitely appreciate some of the tips mentioned in this video. Thank you StyleOG for giving me hope that my 40's can and will be some of my best years.
You're not lying about buying a tux! I was a guest at a wedding this past summer and it was a black-tie situation. So, I went to Men's Wearhouse and bought a tux and everything else so I was laced from head to toe. My lady LOVED it and I caught many people checking me out all night lol! Folks mos def could tell I wasn't rocking a rental, due to the sleek fitted, tailored look after the alterations etc. Keep droppin' these gems on 'em OG!
Style O.G! That list is perfect! Only thing I would add is a Survival Kit. I bought a 2 person Stealth Angel Kit from Amazon. The pocket knife among other things is in the kit!
All attainable items too!! Working on that passport now. Was never able to pull the trigger on buying a pocketknife or Good camera but its time!! 47 years young bro. Solid video once again. Salute
I have most of these, especially the book collection. I have been collecting mostly classics. I still need a tux and I would add a quality chef knife to the list
Jeff you nailed it especially the journal I am currently writing mine and when you write it's amazing what you recall, stuff that's been locked away for years, the good the bad and the incredible. Keep going and we salute you for your channel keep it up
@@TheStyleOG Thanks for taking your time to read my comment. I have a question, but since I'm new to the channel u might have already done a video about it. How to match your tie with your outfit?
Wow.. some of you guys have really got it together. Salute. Well I don’t have an investment portfolio, or multiple streams of income like some of the commenters here. Hell I don’t have most of the things the guy talks about in this video. I got a late start. Went back and got my Masters degree in my 30’s. Now I’m 41. I don’t have all of these things. So if you’re like me, don’t get discouraged. What I do have is determination. I may have missed the boat to have these things by the time I’m “40”... but that doesn’t mean I can’t work hard and have this and more by the time I’m 45. It’s never too late, so never give up. There is no cut off age. The only cut off age is death. Always keep progressing. Peace and blessings to everyone 🙏🏾
By the age of 40, every man should know how to deal with his feelings. If you mad, what is the violation? If you are scared, what is the danger? And if your are sad, what is the loss?
This!!!! This is the most important thing needed. Many 40+ year old men are still out here acting childish. Poor communication skills, treating women inappropriately and not raising their children. I always say "the body follows the mind"
@Takezor1 No, I didn't think that. I would have mentioned where I learned it if you asked. I just didn't want to be presumptuous.... www.ayaed.com I have taken a course called Warriors Healers and Builders about 4 times now. The trainers live in Georgia and sometimes travel to my area in the DMV.
Add to the list, life insurance and or burial insurance. I'm 63 and all of my final plans have been prearranged including funeral arrangements and expenses.
These are facts! Usually these kind of videos have like one or two things you should have, but for real every single thing on this item a real man should have at least by the age of 40 if not before, especially the books and personal journal, the watch, glasses, well dang every single thing on this list! Thank you for posting this, your a scholar and a gentleman.
15 THINGS EVERY GUY SHOULD HAVE BY AGE 40 1. A WATCH which means something to them. 2. A go-to tailored SUIT. 3. A WORK BOOT. 4. A TOOLBOX. 5. A pack overnight bag. 6. A Passport 7. A paper journal 8. A book life 9. Two classy SUNGLASSES 10. A Tuxedo 11. A cast-iron pan 12. Expensive celebratory booze/ wine 🍷 13. A go-to recipe. 14. A dock kit. 15. A camera 📷 16. A pocket-knife 🔪
Excellent video I agree with everything on the list except for one thing the booze I've been clean from drugs and alcohol for 12 years and and one of the reasons that I was able to subscribe to your Channel and to watch you it's because I'm clean and sober but other than that I agree with everything on the list thanks you've been an inspiration to me especially style-wise
You laid it out so decently well like a true O.G. Only thing I was missing on that lineup is the ready-to-go overnight bag in the closet. Be a good time to get that LV bag I always wanted 😎
I’m new to this channel and I love it! Every man by the time he’s 40 should own some type of leather wing tip shoe. It’s classic, goes with a suit for a dressed up look and pairs nicely with a pair of jeans and a sport coat for a casual look! Wing tips never go out of style. I look forward to seeing more of your videos!
With 40 in my rear view mirror and been fortunate enough to travel widely, i like the list but would add 1. Quality leather wallet a must and should be high on a style guy, 2. A pair of Quality leather shoes, your gonna let down any suit or tux with scruffy shoes 3. A good quality scarf, it's essential travel wear, maybe because I'm british, but it's a versatile, 4. Some decent compact binoculars (personal taste, but hiking and nature are free so make the most and great for travelling and exploring (maybe not for city slickers) 5. Hip flask, come in handy for so many occasions loaded with a single malt. 6. Crystal whisky tumbler, cheers
The used passport ( I got my 1st on at age 40) and the book collection hooked me. Excellent suggestions here, and some of the comments are valuable as well. Thank you!! I am 57 now, and many of the items I did possess at age 40. I will always remind others that it is never too late!
Glad to see pocket knife and cast iron pan. Had those in my 20's. LBJ heard on White House recording, released in the last 5 years, telling someone how he wants his pants tailored for a pocket knife. The journalist make fun it, "like he was going to do some whittling." Glad you pointed out the why's to your list. Couldn't agree more! You rock! 👍🏻
When I bought my tailored suits I told them to leave a little extra room. :-D Even if you grow more than that the suit can be tailored to let some more out to accommodate your growth.
I definitely agree with the pocket knife but in the military I always carry a multi-tool ie a Gerber. Not only do I have a knife, but a bottle opener and pliers. Not bulky either. Awesome channel and I suscribed.
Salute to you Sir!! Great video!! I would’ve added a great flashlight and in that same vein a go bag in your vehicle... just in case of breakdown. #boyscout Thanks!!
Greetings from Scotland. I'd swap out the tuxedo for a full kilt outfit, but that's a cultural difference. Props to you for calling out the pocket knife! Was waiting for that one.
Guitar, key board are part of my musical plan. Writing hopefully is next. I plan on adding a library too. I have a book list of close to 100 differing titles & differing topics as well as DVDs. ALL will set me up to be knowledgeable & wiser. The tuxedo is on my list as soon as I hit my weight goal. Of course, it will have tails
Got about 5 on this list and working on the others. I’ll be stepping into that 40 world in about two and a half years. Thanks for keeping the gents informed OG 👌🏾
I believe the author is basing his argument around material things which are interesting because when a man is in his 40s material things typically become of no value. Debt reduced Thanks for being a provocateur of thought. Keep doing you brother.

Great Jacket/Shirt/Pocket Square combo- lookin' good
Appreciate it Robert !
I have some of the items already. I look forward to acquiring the other 7 suggested items I don't have. Very insightful and helpful my brother.
glad to hear it Alton
Just because it's a style channel so I just didn't expect it but good on you brotha.

welcome to the channel Luke!
Thanks for the input Wayne !
Call that the ish bag. In case stuff happens
Ur "get up & go" bag sounds very similar to the hoe bag the talked about. What's the difference?
@@saucecastillo460
This bag is intended for situations that deal with disasters, it's for safety needs ie floods, earthquakes, things of that sort, they are designed for safety needs for you and another person if a disaster was to happen in your area they contain food, and such things in Lue of the Toolbox,A gentleman needs to be ready for all situations

This video has now made me a fan of the channel. As a person about to turn 40 next year, I can definitely appreciate some of the tips mentioned in this video. Thank you StyleOG for giving me hope that my 40's can and will be some of my best years.
You got it Calvin!
Salute O.G! Top tips even for those a little past 40 👍
Salute Riz!
Just turned 40 in May of '19. I was actually surprised I'm only missing a few things. the Tux, the expensive booze, and the grooming kit. 👍🏽
My man !
Add a nice set of cuff links and a French cuff shirt. And one nice belt.
I wear mine when I go to weddings.
Keep droppin' these gems on 'em OG!
will do my man!
Thanks Jeff. At 45, I’m at about 10 for 15 on this list. I need to get busy! Salute.
Salute!
Talk ya talk young fella! Good looking on the must haves OG now I have something to teach my sons #Salute
Salute Ty!
You need a solid, impressive dinner recipe and a solid breakfast menu.
I like it Joel!
Gotta have the omelet recipe!
That’s grown man talk right there. 👍🏽
Haha! 😉
A quality wallet, not an old leather one that is falling apart! Oh and a great high quality LED flashlight.
Salute
Salute Bobby!
Every Guy by 40 should have proper communication Skills.
I have most of these, especially the book collection. I have been collecting mostly classics. I still need a tux and I would add a quality chef knife to the list
I have my bottle of Hennessy XO ready Salute OG!
Yes Sir!
Jeff you nailed it especially the journal I am currently writing mine and when you write it's amazing what you recall, stuff that's been locked away for years, the good the bad and the incredible. Keep going and we salute you for your channel keep it up
Salute Michael !
Dude! You are part of my morning routine. I find lots of motivation in this channel. I'm 32 and I'm taking notes on a daily basis. Thanks MY MAN!
Glad to hear it Daniel !
@@TheStyleOG Thanks for taking your time to read my comment. I have a question, but since I'm new to the channel u might have already done a video about it. How to match your tie with your outfit?

Something else you'll need before 40...kids! Oddly enough, they prevent me from acquiring/using most of these things on your list.
haha!
Baha
ronniemas1 😊
So would your argument be to not have kids? It would be much easier to acquire these things, no?
💯💯
Wow.. some of you guys have really got it together.
I re-watched this video cause this was not just for entertainment it was (to me) education. I'm stepping my game up. Thx again for this one!
Salute Jacob!
By the age of 40, every man should know how to deal with his feelings. If you mad, what is the violation? If you are scared, what is the danger? And if your are sad, what is the loss?
Anthony Beharry even a young men should know that im 23 and sometimes a spend time thinking to improv that
This!!!! This is the most important thing needed. Many 40+ year old men are still out here acting childish. Poor communication skills, treating women inappropriately and not raising their children. I always say "the body follows the mind"
@Takezor1 No. That is not where I learned that.
I really need a good weekender bag - salute OG
Salute Aaron!
I bought my husband a new leather weekender bag for a song on eBay.
Thanks Style OG I purchased my first real camera. Smooth addition to my lifestyle ...
Salute!
Salute and peace to everyone in the comments
You too brother Robert..much blessings to you and your family

Excellent video I agree with everything on the list except for one thing the booze I've been clean from drugs and alcohol for 12 years and and one of the reasons that I was able to subscribe to your Channel and to watch you it's because I'm clean and sober but other than that I agree with everything on the list thanks you've been an inspiration to me especially style-wise
Appreciate the feedback Ernest !

Welcome to the channel Michael!
An overnite bag? We call those booty bags 😂
I have a load of watches but last year my dad bought me a watch when my son was born and it’s my favorite watch
I like it Khamari!
The Style O.G. I need to find a place that can engrave his name with the date he was born so I can give it to him when he gets older
I'll be 40 next year, so I'd like to add to the list is a nice collection of men's colognes.
I like it !
Ummm...every 40 y/o man needs a good urologist...
I feel you!
Amen!😁
Got one he caught my cancer early before it spread my Urologist is the 💣.

Appreciate this video I need to keep that overnight bag for sure Salute OG
Salute D!
The shirt looks really good, love how it stands up so well looks dope
Thanks!
Very much needed channel to help mentor and cultivate depth in some of our young men.
Appreciate the kind words!
You rock! 👍🏻
Weight fluctuates 😂 that made my day and we can all agree to that, salute!
such is life! lol
When I bought my tailored suits I told them to leave a little extra room. :-D Even if you grow more than that the suit can be tailored to let some more out to accommodate your growth.
A good record collection of your favorite albums with a good turntable.
The Bible is all I need. 👏
A hearty salute to you Jeff. You always do a great job! So many are getting educated by what you do and say. Respect.
Respect Russell!
I definitely agree with the pocket knife but in the military I always carry a multi-tool ie a Gerber. Not only do I have a knife, but a bottle opener and pliers. Not bulky either. Awesome channel and I suscribed.

I have 1-5 working on #6 I'm 31 so hopefully by 40 I have #6 down... nah not hopefully I deff will
In addition to these I would throw life insurance and investment portfolio for (present and future legacy building)
At 33 I’m missing number three, I will have to get that fixed, thank you 🙏🏿
Is it a bad thing if you don't have number 2 by 33
Salute to you Sir!! Great video!! I would’ve added a great flashlight and in that same vein a go bag in your vehicle... just in case of breakdown. #boyscout
Thanks!!
No problem. great input!
I'm honestly surprised Stan Smiths were not on the list lol. Salute Jeff
haha!
Greetings from Scotland.
I'd swap out the tuxedo for a full kilt outfit, but that's a cultural difference.
Props to you for calling out the pocket knife! Was waiting for that one.
Cheers!
Nice list OG. I’m going to have to get started on that book collection. By the way that gray suit is 🔥
Appreciate it Russell!
Not finished watching this but i hope number one thing a man’s need by the age of 40 is good credit
🤣👍
Definitely agree. My good credit has let me borrow money to buy several real estate properties.
Damn only got 6 out of 15 and I just turned 39 three weeks ago.
Keep adding !
That's better than nothing. Keep it up and you will do great. Be Blessed
How you finish matters more than how you start!
Got about 5 on this list and working on the others. I’ll be stepping into that 40 world in about two and a half years. Thanks for keeping the gents informed OG 👌🏾
I believe the author is basing his argument around material things which are interesting because when a man is in his 40s material things typically become of no value.
Here are a few more plus shared thoughts:
1. Will
2. Trusts
3. Home
4. Stock portfolio
5. love the passport
6. Love the tuxedo
7. Love the suit
8. Debt reduced
Thanks for being a provocateur of thought.
Keep doing you brother.
By age of 40, every man should have good job, family and own a flat or a house.
@James St Patrick exactly! I don’t know what dude talking about
Dude, you are following the status quo like a fucking sheep!
By 40 a man should be worth at least 1M USD. All the rest is about personal choice.
