BTW I beat this from start to finish... then back to the start for the upload. 500 second speedrun let's go! I timed out several times, mainly due to the claws :) I'm going to put the clear in an upcoming video since a lot of people are requesting to see it. It was fun, honestly.

i think every single one of carl's widely distributed levels mark the beginnings and ends of eras in the troll comunity.

The presentation of these videos always blows me away. The way the creation, explanation and the footage of streamers were integrated into this video was so well done and it's very entertaining to watch.

Being there and seeing how horrible ideas went from horrible to more or less horrible and seeing how this level turned out, this was a huge success. Peak level brainstorming. Galaxy brain level design and gg to all who managed to beat this!

@@Luci_4k Great edit Luci! I have one small request for next time. Could you keep showing the streamer names for each of their clips? If you want to check out someone but forgot the name it's pretty difficult to find their first clip in the video where their name is shown.

I normally have a hard time getting interested in level building levels, not because I think the setups are boring, but just because of the long explanations and planning and time it takes to actually build.
But Carl's style of explaining his ideas about each section, before interjecting clips of different streamers falling for it, always keeps me entertained.

I love these videos. It builds such a sense of community, prior to these kinds of videos I didn’t recognize any of these streamers, aside from maybe geek and dgr. Then after one or two I kinda saw who they were but didn’t think I’d really remember, just thought it was cool he was giving a shout out to some lesser known streamers. Now I’m like “dang I wonder how this person might react to that” or “no way I can’t believe THAT streamer did that in this level” I’m excited to see everyone, it’s honestly so cool, and I’m definitely gonna be checking out their streams more often

I tried this level. I tried so hard to complete it, but...those freaking claws have given me PTSD. To quote what I originally said after trying this level for 4 hours: "This is an absolutely diabolical troll level that a novice SMM2 player as myself thought I could conquer....-Presses the Like button- Well done to you and the community for this masterpiece of terror."
I love how similar Carl and Geek are when it comes to frustration, celebration, and just like, everything. It’s so fucking good. They need to collaborate more FOR SURE.

ITS FINALLY OUT! Oh my god I’ve waited for this reaction video for SO LONG. It was super fun participating in this level and I was overjoyed to see Carl like and implement one of my ideas. Now, excuse me while I grab some buttered popcorn.
This was SO GOOD. The Twhomp clown car steal had me cackling
Carl's reaction compilations are some of his best uploads. Always worth at least two viewings, plus it shines light on some of the lesser known streamers out there.
What I really love about the design of the level is that you're probably going to fail each section and go through its softlock as well as the ones before it so you kind of play out all the verses of the song during your play through.
Exactly, it completely follows the progression of the song from start to finish.

Me: "Oh no..."
There are a *lot* of things to highlight about this level, but my single favorite thing, despite its appearance in other levels, is the up-thwomp. It just (literally) comes out of nowhere to make you have a bad time and it's fucking fantastic. So many amazing trolls in this level, many arguably far better than that, but that's the one that made me laugh the hardest watching the videos of these various creators playing through the level.
Also, Defender has lost his way. Once upon a time there were whispers of a holy scripture outlining true troll perfection. It is clear now that any mention of such a document is nothing but idle gossip.
Edit: I was reminded toward the end. My single favorite part of this whole endeavor was watching Tanuki Dan grind out the world record. I didn't catch it live, so I only saw the edit on his channel, but...I felt it. Jesus fucking christ dude, you're insane and I love it!
Aw man, I'm guessing Dave had access to all the footage of Carl building the level so it wouldn't be a surprise for him to stream the level, it feels like something's missing without his clips.
He also might have just been traumatized from the last ones XD
The absolute genius part of this concept is that in the original song you start with 1, then 2->1 then 3->2->1 and so on, and since you'll get sucked into each anti as you play through the level, you experience it that way, and then you get to play out the whole final verse. Its just brilliant.
Having recently watched through a bunch of Carl's past troll levels, and now this piece of art, it's truly terrifying watching the so-called "benevolent" mastermind evolve beyond my wildest imagination to create the most evil concoctions known to man

I tried playing this level but by the time I got to it, Carl had removed the check point (or at least moved it somewhere). I was like “uhh, this is whack”. Funny video though.

Honestly, a lot of the "glitches" in Mario Maker 2 are basically features at this point, because they've been around for long enough with Nintendo looking like they've made 0 effort to patch them.
And its not like people are using system glitches to do malicious stuff like post unbeatable levels, NSFW levels, etc. They're using "glitches" to make creative ways to clear a level.

What a genius level holy shit. Designing everything to be done in reverse order, getting it all to fit so that you can go from anti to anti in reverse order on the way back... And everything was tailor made to be just difficult enough! Exceptional level design
