- If you want to learn how to ride a Honda Grom, this is the video for you! This is a BEGINNERS guide to riding a Grom or other motorcycles that should help people starting out on a first bike.
This is a no shame video where I teach you the very BASICS of a Motorcycle as well as how to ride one. I go over all the parts like the switches, buttons, levers, etc on my Grom and tell you the importance of which and how to use them. Following that I start my riding tutorial where I teach you one of the many ways to learn how to ride a bike. This includes how to shift the motorcycle, how to brake, and how to turn. Many of the tips & tricks I teach you are from my own experiences teaching myself how to ride. The Honda Grom or Kawasaki Z125 are great bikes to start and learn how to ride a motorcycle. Either option would apply to what I teach in the video.
Now for the people that already know how to ride, this video wasn't intended for you but feel free to watch! I can already hear the comments from people telling me they already know how to ride a motorcycle...congratulations. For the people that will ask, I still don't think the Grom is the best first bike, but I do think its the best bike to learn how to ride on. If you found this video helpful, please let me know! And please. for those learning how to ride make sure to wear protective gear at all times!

My grom is basically a unicycle with a extra wheel. I think I have 2000 miles on the back and 5 miles on the front wheel. Lol😎👍
haha thats definitely how a grom should be ridden :)
i want to buy the honda grom for transportation like school, and my job do you think it would be good for that i'm completely new to bikes just started to get into it like 3 weeks ago.
Pau Thang videos depends on how long your commute is and the speed limits of the roads

@@itspu6902 same, school and work, except i have been into bikes for 3 years or so
I’m 15 about to be 16 and I’m thinking about saving for a grom. I’ve never had an experience with a motorcycle and this video taught me a lot, great video and thanks!
during the summer I gonna save up for a grom
Get a Kawasaki Z125 Pro. They’re a bit cheaper
I worked for all of spring break while saving up, made $400, it's realistic to get one at 16 if you're dedicated on saving
Make sure you check with your state laws. A lot of them require you have your license before applying for a motorcycle license.
Same, im 16 right now and saving up for a grom
I watched this video last year when it has 8k views. I had just bought a Grom and had no experience whatsoever riding a motorcycle. I have never rode a dirt bike or a standard vehicle a day in my life. I found this tutorial and started learning to ride it literally because of this video it was the only tutorial I had ever watched on how to ride. At first I had a lot of trouble with starting in first gear and stalling the bike for beginners out there trust me I stalled this A LOT. What I wasn’t doing was throttling slightly before the point of friction then using the clutch to determine how much torque the engine was getting once I figured that out I NEVER stalled the bike again. It’s definitely a learning curve for beginners but once you figure it out it’s soo much fun. I must’ve watched this tutorial 20+ times and still come back to it to see how I’m doing. I know I pissed my neighbors off riding around my culdesac 100x with my aftermarket exhaust but now I ride it everywhere. Thank you so much Anthony for the tutorial I honestly don’t think I ever would have learned how to ride without it!
This comment made my day! Glad that this video helped, you are definitely the kind person that this was geared towards. Thank you for watching!
2024... 6yrs later and this is the best detailed explanation I've watched completely through. Great job and thank you.
37 years old and learning to ride for the first time. This video is excellent. Subscribing. Thank you!
I’m 29 and about to buy my very first Grom. It’s my first motorcycle period and I’m super excited. Your video gave a lot of really good info and I’m gonna use and practice everything that was shown. Thanks man✌🏾😌
Never rode a motorcycle in my life. Don't have a license yet. But planning on getting a grom in the next month. Thanks bro 🙏
Got your license bro?

I’ve gotten a grom (as my first bike) recently and I’ve been repeatedly watching this vid. It’s a great vid, explained well, simple to the point, not to much excess, and has a good exhaust/good audio so you can hear what your doing pretty well. Thx again! I’ve watched a few others but this one is the best
I just bought a cb500f and i have only ever been on a dirt bike so I have been nervous as hell to learn how to ride my bike but this has been probably the best video out there in terms of a beginner’s guide. You are very well spoken. Thank you so much.
getting my first bike, which of course is the Grom, and I couldn't be more excited and nervous at the same time. this video is literally a blessing, it simplified so much for me, and lemme tell ya, I thought bikes would be beyond complicated and I'd never learn to ride. However, your video has given me hope and I cant wait to start my life of riding!
Do you need a license for this bike?
Separating the left and right sides for shifting and braking is great simplifying. That’s what I always do when teaching people to ride!
What makes you qualified to teach anyone to ride a motorcycle?
Yes Sure I’m no expert. I just show friends how to use my dirtbike and get a feel for the basics. I’m not running a training school or anything lol. Sorry if I worded that poorly. I’m not claiming to be an instructor. Just a helpful friend.
Don't try to help new or non riders - the best friend you can be is to send them to a certified motorcycle safety school. And there are proper dirt riding instruction schools too.
If I were teaching people to ride on the streets or anything I'd agree. I guess I just don't see why it's so bad to teach someone how to put around in the dirt.
A person will develop bad habits and poor skills by learning from a non qualified 'instructor' then some day if they want to ride on the streets with a proper license they will have to unlearn so many things.
We discovered that at the school where I taught. Dirt bike riders were harder to teach than a new rider who has never ridden.
18 years old and made my mind up in what bike I want. I always wanted this one since 16-17 but was talked out of it but here I am at 18 and still wanting it and now I'm GONNA GET ITT 😂 I love this bike and I watched this entire video and feel more then ready to give it a try
got a 2020 grom a couple months ago and I'm 19 best purchase I've ever made tbh
@@braxton2452 should I get one , how fast are they and does it really matter that much if they can’t go that fast ? I only really need it to get to work , gym and maybe some other places and isn’t insurance cheaper if I got a from instead of a car ?

How to ride a Grom: Full throttle
Haha I agree! Send it!
Good job...
hell yeah brother
Full ghrottle.

Just got my 2023 Grom and this tutorial was a life saver, it’s my first bike and they didn’t really show me how to use it they just assume because I knew how to use a dirtbike. It would be the same , it’s similar, but way more Powerful and I’m not used to gears so I’m getting really good at riding thanks to this video 🙏
I recently got a Grom a few months ago and it was fun to rewatch the steps I took to ride, as it is my first bike. This tutorial will be great for people learning the Grom. I didn’t have it these easy and simplified, definitely going to let my brother learn based on this video because he’s a little intimidated because he’s never ridden but wants to. Maybe a wheelie tutorial next haha? #GromSquad.
haha I'm not the best at wheelies but I'm sure I could make something in the future!

Seriously, one of the best videos I’ve ever watched. Period. Really been considering buying a Grom to drive back and forth to work. It would be my first and only bike. This video has made me a believer, thank you!
I really appreciate that! Thank you for watching
This video is wonderful! I have ridden an automatic scooter and semi-automatic Spyder, but never anything with a clutch. I purchased a Grom today and practiced riding. I was struggling with the clutch during take off quite a bit. I appreciate your advice about letting it begin to crawl and then accelerating. I can’t wait to practice again tomorrow!
I'm wanting a grom after getting a spyder lol but i already have a manual
I’ve been flirting with getting a Grom but have never been on a motorcycle. This beginnings guide was amazing. Thank you I will be definitely starting the search for a Grom to start learning come spring.

I’m thinking of getting one too. They seem so fun
I've ridden for years.... this video just auto played.... I watched the entire thing, excellent instruction man, well done!
Great guide, I just got a 2019 Grom. Only been on it twice so far, to play around a bit, going out to get my permit for it in the morning. First Bike, but the 2 hours I've spent on it so far have been quite possibly the most fun I've had in the last 4 years. Stalled it out a few times getting it moving from a stand still, but it's a comfortable little bike, and I feel really comfortable with it. Well comfortable zipping up and down the street at 30 anyway. Didn't specifically go looking for a Grom as my first bike, but my brother got a new bike, and gave his wife his old one, she used the grom to learn how to ride. So I'm buying it at a great price, and I fell in love with the little thing after such a short time on it. I've spent all my free time at work today watching videos of all the people riding these things, I can't believe how big of a thing these little bikes are. I've never seen anyone on them out by me, but I'm hoping I'll run into some now that I've got one. Nearing the end of bike season, but I figure if the weather isn't bad, frost bite be damned I'll be puttering around for fun.
Best beginners guide. Everything made sense and wasn’t even hard to understand. I can’t wait to ride now thank you 🙏🏼
Very helpful for first time grom riders as well as first time bike riders! 10-10, I definetly recommend!
Not gunna lie, being someone who as tried to ride a motorcycle (and failed my first time) this tutorial was very helpful in giving me confidence to try riding again. It never fails when the weather starting warming up and people break out their bikes I always get the itch to try again. I'm really looking into the grom, and this video helped build confidence...THANK YOU SIR!
Thank you for watching!
I've never ridden a motorcycle and recently I've been really interested in the Grom. This is a very helpful guide thank you I'll definitely be checking out more videos you have on the bike
Charlie Castellano no problem! :)
I rode a Honda Grom in 2018 for my motorcycle training course lol, it was the greatest thing ever. I've wanted one ever since
Riiiight at the very end you answered my question about down shifting and stopping. Hold the clutch, release gas, apply breaks, stop in a high gear then just tap down tap down tap down into 1 or N while stopped then start moving again. I've never been on a bike before but I want to own a grom one day so I'm studying it and other bikes for that matter. I need to learn basics like this. Thank you so much for this in depth video.
Ayy thanks man I just traded my quad for a grom and sadly the key and ignition is missing this video helps me out so much
This was exactly what I needed to feel like I could go out and ride it. Thank you so much for explaining every detail! You are awesome!

This is so helpful! I have dyslexia so it’s hard for me to learn from other people but this video I can keep watching to memorize it. Thank you so much!
Thank you, Anthony. I am new to motorcycles and I will be getting my very first bike, a Grom, this weekend. Your beginner video is amazing! Not everybody who rides a bike are good teachers. Well done, AllDayAnthony. As a 50 year old guy that never rode a motorized cycle of any sort, I figured I would never even try at this point in my life. But this video made it look learnable and not that scary. I’ve been riding a Honda Dio scooter for over a year and got my Grom 2 weeks ago. Started binge watching these kinds of videos to understand how to use the clutch and gear. This is the most helpful video by far I’ve come across. Thanks heaps!!
Well done with this, i have a couple of bikes and have ridden bikes for 20 years but this will help lots of new riders, very concise and simple, superb buddy 👍👍👍👌
As someone who’s never ridden a bike, this was a super helpful video talking through the basics of what seems a confusing about of of finger and foot action 🤣 Looking forward to having a play on one of these though (will have to quickly un-learn the instinct to pull the left lever for the break from my MTB though!).
Have a second left handle added for the rear brake, very common mod because it makes wheelies easier…..

Well done. I'm going to switch from starting my bikes to "flicking" them on!
Can you do a video on math
Quick addendum on the indicators / turn signals- anyone coming to motorcycles from a car will be used to indicators self cancelling once you've finished your turn. Motorcycles generally don't have that except a very few that have inertial sensors. You must remember to cancel the indicator yourself. If you do not, and you're in a country where you drive on the right, and you make a right turn, you will be indicating that you're going to turn down the next side road on your right. A car emerging from that road is going to see your indicator & go "Ah, he's turning, I can come out..." & you'll run right into the side of him & over the hood. Same goes for left turns in left driving countries like the UK. Always cancel your indicators!
There are times when I am taking a turn perhaps a little fast or angled more it feels like my rear tire slips a bit. It's a little unsettling and wondering If you the knew the cause. I'm guessing my tires may not be aligned completely but I dont know. Just at times feel squiggly
Could be the tires man. The stock tires aren't great. Also check your chain adjustment to see if the swingarm bolt isn't off balanced
Jon if you didnt change the tires that is the problem. I have the stock tyres and it gets scary sometime
@@berkk29 thanks man I think you know what I'm talking about... can I ask your recommendation on good tires? I like the thick look, I saw the pure power but they looked so skinny looked funny on the bike
Jon well power pures are very grippy but since you dont like how it looks you can also check out city grips. And also never get a 140 rear tire just because it is thicker it makes the handling terrible.
It’s weird to see how much has changed on those roads just in 3 years! No round about and no field! Appreciate the tips
Never lean, only counter steer, leaning comes with counter steering
You are a great teacher. I'm trying to teach my wife and this video helped a lot. Thanks.
