Hello from Serbia! Hopefully, I'll be in Houston in 2021, we are waiting for our visa.
I want to buy: Something American, to put the flag on it, something to scream freedom and patriotism (no Japanese cars, sorry), for about 5.000 dollars, younger than 20 years, to drive for 1 year, and 20k miles. Automatic transmission, for my wife.
Please, give me some proposals, because I have never seen a single one of them in Europe.
My List: Old Aviator, I love it
      , simple suspension, basically Ford
Some Ford with edgy-headlights, Explorer, Edge, Expedition...
I love RAM, mea culpa, I know, money pit...

Dodge has a certain attitude and soul in some of their cars that's reminiscent of the muscle car era. They feel true to it in a way that GM and Ford forgot. Their vehicles, off the lot, with no miles, are immaculate and very nice (if you're willing to spring for some options). But they age like milk, and they give a certain "impression" of the people who drive them.

Thanks for covering the Ford Direct Injected engine. I am a fleet mechanic for a public utility that primarily drives larger three axle trucks. But part of our fleet does include Ford pickups. During one of the last vehicle acquisitions the company purchased a bunch of the 3.5 gtdi powered pickups. This didnt make much sense since the pickups spend most of their time making frequent stops and starts while checking meters and poles.
You see, the vehicle acquisition group never talks to the mechanics before buying vehicles. If they had, we could have told them the EcoBoost was a terrible investment for the very reasons you mentioned. Its a complex design and not very dependable especially for a truck that rarely spends any time on the open road. Turbochargers arent necessary for repeated starting and stopping in neighborhoods. Not to mention we are in the Mojave desert where temperatures of 100+ are normal throughout the summer.
Not one of these pickups have held up very well. And when something goes wrong its costly. Prior to that the pickups were equipped with the 5.4 Triton. Again, why put such a big engine in a pickup that merely starts and stops hroughout the day. I wasnt terribly impressed with the 5.4 but at least it held up better than the EcoBoost

Did you just passively throw a pack of new spark plugs on the top rad cover??? That's a bad move. Not only can it chip the porcelain, but it can crack the plugs. Sometimes hairline. It happened to a customer I know that got mechanical work done at our shop. The parts guy went and got the parts and smacked the plugs and all the parts on the parts table. Mechanics did the tune up, put the plugs in. About 2 days later the customer ended up coming back with his vehicle on a deck truck🙄. Problem was engine check light was flashing also when the mechanics were working on it broken plugs were also noticed. Another thing resultant of that was blown coil packs as well. This happened a few times. It was found out later that it wasn't faulty plugs but the way they were handled before installation. This incident may not happen all the time, but there is a chance that it can. Sparkplugs are robust when they're installed, but should not be rough housed when not installed and in boxes especially shocked from dropping even smacks on a work table. Plugs should be handled with care. Another thing. Don't tap the plugs while gapping them, another no no I learned from senior old school mechanics on these newer plugs. Other than that your videos are amazing.

To be fair it is important for every vehicle not just FI setups. My dad taught me how to check and gap plugs when I was a kid. I always check the gap before installing. When I buy them at the gap needed I don’t think I have ever needed to adjust them but I always check. For my modified cars I always have to change the gap though. And how to do it is important as well. Watching people just bang them closed and then open them up with a screwdriver or the feeler gauges makes me cringe

When Scotty says that bout long threads he’s talking bout the 2 Lil 10mm bolts on the coil. The Triton issue wasn’t coil, it was the short spark plug treads! Just had to tap and install new inserts on my 99 triton 5.4. But now we know if you just tighten to 22-25 ft. Lbs. instead of the recommendation of 12-13 ft. Lbs it’ll generally solve the problem. The single 7mm bolt on the triton coils wasn’t the problem.....just sayin.
