Love the channel Scotty been watching you for a long time
Great stuff as usual Scotty! Wishing you the best for the new year!
Doll
I need that battery checker, Scotty! My electric widows are slow like cold molases. (All regulator parts were greased and frames lubricated) :(
So with the ten times rule; is 3,000 city miles equal to 30,000 highway miles on the oil?
''if i had a transmission that went out in 60 thousand miles i'd come back and strangle you'' lmao
JATCO!!
@ 4:40 - Scotty's quote
I love it when people get older and tired of being politically correct and just tell it like it is instead of word games.
As it will if you don't service it correctly, change the fluid.
Detastic! But be sure to leave a Clean non offensive comment! LMAO
Engineer: This transmission fluid is good for the life of the transmission.
Scotty: How long is that?
Engineer: Until the transmission wears out because you didn't change the fluid.
Ironically they used to say you never need to change it. Getting some dealers to change fluid is impossible unless it is already failing anyhow. I heard that about BMW. What, they never heard of preventative maintenance?
Finally, somebody on RUclips talking about cars who actually knows what he is talking about.
This guy knows his stuff. He’s saved me $$$$$$$$$
He is not the only one .Yet he is one of the ones !
He does say good information, generally. But he at times makes mistakes.
For example in this video, he makes a physical error at 1:45. Where he starts "The main reason". Yes, the BTU's in a given fill up in the morning won't change to the afternoon albeit it's expansion, but it does expand! So it follows that an afternoon fill up of 10 gallons has less BTU's then 10 gallons in the morning!
(Even though when comparing that same 10 gallons in the afternoon with the little less volume the next morning, BTU's didn't change)
So there he didn't know what he was talking about. I hope when he sees this he will make the correction.
Regards,
Peter.
@@PK-yc7en what's the point of even mentioning this if it doesn't change the fact that it's the same amount of energy regardless of its expansion...
@@theanioutlet6728 The theory is that since gas is sold by volume, not weight, if you buy colder, denser gas, you get slightly more energy per gallon.

I'm a single lady & I have to say how much your informative realistic & easy way you explain things u have not only helped me but actually saved my car & not left me stranded in a parking lot of a auto zone of all places at night!! Thanks to you, LS.
What knowledge kept you from being stranded?
Engineer: It lasts as long as the transmission.
Scotty: How long is that?
Engineer: As long as the lifetime of the transmission fluid.
Another reason to prefer manuals; I once bought a one-owner pickup...for $200. 310,000 miles and about a third of the paint on it when I got it, and 350,000 when the transmission died.
Guy had kept good records of the maintenance in the manual, tune ups, oil changes, a long list of miscellaneous parts...and not one mention of ever changing the gear oil.
I still felt like I got my $200 worth out of it.
@@kd5nrh Yes, manuals last way longer without maintenance. I don't get why 5k mile motor oil changes are common knowledge but 90k (or in my opinion 60k) mile auto transmission oil changes are not...
When Scotty was a young mechanic, he used to fix chariots every 20,000 egyptian cubits.
That's like 10 miles. 😹
Catalina Amanigh those old chariots were built really well 😂
What the hell is a Cubit? haha!

I really like Scotty's direct straightforwardness style. No crap . Keep it Scotty!
“If I had a transmission that went out at 60,000 miles I’d strangle you!” Spoken like a true god
I wonder how many Nissan CVT engineers he has buried in his back yard?
If they did find Nissan engineer buried in his backyard the police would find Scotty 'guilty' of telling the truth and let him off.
@@Crosshair84Hopefully all of them
If you had a transmission go out at 60,000 miles...you have a FORD :-)
Never had a transmission fail, never heard of anybody that had ... but then again, all transmissions are manuals around here. Still superior in any way.
I don’t think there is another mechanic on earth with the kind of enthusiasm and energy as Scotty May he keep going well beyond his warranty
He's not human. He's a Toyota with a std transmission..lol
He used to be much more enthusiastic. Watch his RUclips vids from 10-12 years ago.
I just awarded myself an honorary mechanics certification from having watched so many of his vids. lol kidding, but I do know a lot more now.
I have been watching you for a while now, and you make being an automotive technician seem to be so fun. That is why I am taking classes to become one like you.
You actually get the most out of working on cars. Classes are good to familiarize you with them, but getting into them is where you really learn all the good stuff.

My ford Windstar did. At a stoplight, stepped on the gas, then "Bang". $2,000 for a rebuilt transmission.
My dad was a stock car racer and a master mechanic my whole life. Scotty reminds me so much of my dad, it's not funny. Many of Scotty's comments and most of his opinions are exactly the same. I trusted my dad in all things mechanical, and trust Scotty as well.

@@Ssesshoumaru69 Easy to believe. Read a newspaper article in 1979? Guy was a limo driver and his Mercedes had 3 million miles on it. Was in Milwaukee WI. He converted his garage to have a car wash inside. He washed it daily ( road salt ) after his shift. He also changed his oil once a week. Saw the pictures, that car was pristine. My '94 Crown Vic started shuddering/jolting at cruising speed one day. I had 59,871 miles on the car. I googled '60k miles on '94 crown vic trans issues' or something to that effect.. first article I clicked on said 'if you own a 93 or 94 Crown Vic, you will be changing out the torque converter at 60,000 miles'. I removed the TC. Cut it open, and saw lots of fin erosion and other metal debris hung up in the trans filter. Bought an HD torque converter from Torco Industries out of Cali for $119 and car now has 87k on it. Haven't had an issue since.
