    I’m always amazed at how many customers truly believe that regular preventative maintenance is a scam. So many have told me “my cars always last 90-100k and I’ve never done maintenance!”.
    While that’s true and most cars will last that long my cars generally last 250-350k before I sell them and very rarely need repair other than regular wear items like tires and brakes.
    “The better you take care of your car the longer it will last and stay nice. The longer your car lasts and stays nice the more you will like it. The more you like it the better you’ll take care of it.”

    Here’s a tip for people with automatic cars. When parking on a steep hill, set the emergency brake first then put the transmission in park. Doing this let’s the brake hold the car and when leaving makes the transmission easier to shift. Otherwise you may not be able to get the transmission out of park.

      I helped a friend's father restore a 1959 Plymouth Fury. When he bought the car it had 85,000 miles on it and most of the parts were original to the car. First time I looked under the hood, I could not believe how clean everything was, especially since the car had been in storage for almost 15 years. Only things we did to do was replace the belts and hoses, rebuild the carburetor, replace one panel on the body, and flush and change the fluids.

      Scotty worked hard too, he knows his stuff and he’s honest but he’s also gotten lucky with RUclips. He didn’t invent that and he would not have been ultra-famous without RUclips. I would bet anything he knows that too. Hes said that before, lol.

      You would have to basically turn off the ignition at full boost meaning WOT for this to happen, i dont think anyone is turning off the engine with the gas pedal through the floor. It truly takes like a couple of seconds at idle for the turbo to slow down. You should let your turbocharged engine idle for 30-90 seconds before turning it off, and it is because of oil flow, but its not because the turbo is still spinning at high speed, its because the turbo is hot as hell and if you cut the oil flow, the oil in the turbo is just gonna sit in that heat and coke up, which restricts future oil flow and can wreck the turbo.

Shell also seems to rate their fuel slightly lower than it actually scores on the anti-nock index. I used to fill at different stations and would have to put injector cleaner in a tank every oil change. Ever since I started filling 70% + of the time at shell and avoiding esso (worst gas out there) I haven't had issues. Manufacturers know that the government doesn't require enough additives so they all joined the Top Tier fuel program.

    If you’re in a collision that activates the airbags, put in neutral and use the emergency brake (handbrake in the UK). If you put it in park & turn it off, modern cars have a timer preventing you starting the car, and a lock on the transmission so you won’t be able to move the car out of the way for some time:- discovered this helping at a collision, & when recovery arrived about an hour later, he started the car no problem (timed out) but initially the car was in a dangerous place & needed police to put out cones etc.

    I wish I saw this video 20 and 30 years ago!! I kept the turbos spooled up on my 2001 Audi A6 2.7T to overcome turbo lag and never let them cool down correctly. I replaced the car when fixing the turbos cost more than the car was worth. I also accidentally put my 79 Buick Regal in to reverse on the highway and then needed a new transmission. It never ran right again.

      @ebnertra0004 2 года назад +2

      I was going to coast down a large hill in neutral in a bus. I overshot and dropped into reverse for a half-second or so. The transmission was spared by the fact that instead of grinding the gears all to hell, it just locked up the drive wheels. The road was not the only place with skidmarks that morning...

    My 1953 Hudson "Super Wasp" has a clutch with cork (wood) inserts that's in an oil bath (clutch fluid). As long as you regularly change the clutch fluid, the clutch itself we'll last forever.

    I actually smacked my 99 bonneville into reverse going 40 by accident just like Scotty said messing with friends. The engine shut off pulled over with it still in R. It coasted like it was in neutral. Put in park started back up drove off no problems. 🤷‍♂️ definitely got lucky, but I think it had a safety mech of some kind

    6 minute mark or so: Imagine how long turbochargers and engine top-ends would last if there was a pre-oil pump that ran 20 seconds before the starter would engage...

      and also for a couple minutes AFTER you shut it off .
      Because once you shut off the motor , there's no oil psi in the turbo but its still spinning .

    100% right on the N2. It’s recommended in all high altitude Aircraft. Maybe if your planning on driving from the top of a mountain to the cost, nitrogen might would be worth it. I suggest check your tire pressure on your way down.
