@@kwynsee3453if your paying for the server I wouldn’t use this mod, if your view distance is low it just makes the game worse, and if you want to run a server with alot or chunks that’s just unnecessary space being wasted
Explanation for the mod: It used LoD, Basically making fake chunks by making said fake chunks have lower quality. That being said, this isn't an easy optimization mod for running 5 chunk render distance, It actually takes a decent system to run (tested on my 10 yr old laptop with a geforce 840m)
That should just be a thing it’s not that hard to just expand the render distance and after a certain point make the low rez so that way when your on a mountain looking around the whole thing doesn’t look stupid even with max render distance
It is a sensible addition but wouldn't call it easy to add to an existing codebase. I wouldn't be surprised if mojang has been working on it just that it's not stable
that's not what this mod does to my knowledge, afaik it actually makes things further away appear in lower quality so seeing further doesn't make frame rate worse, its what most open world games do but not minecraft which is why for all its graphics is a pretty resource intensive game to run.
distant horizons uses something called LODs where it progressively lowers the quality of the “fake chunks” outside your normal render distance and the quality gets lower the farther they are, most open world games use LODs now iirc
Distant horizons is optimized poorly for people that don't have monster PCs, there are many other LoD mods that make better use of your GPU if it's for example an Nvidia GPU and such.
I tried using this mod but it doesn't work for me IDKY I can't see anything beyond the normal render distance. The mod Boby works for me. I'll try it again when I figure out what's causing my forge to crash. Idky but forge constantly crash even if it's 17 mods compare to the 57+ mods with Fabric.
Just know that rendering the new chunks takes like 20 minutes of waiting. Depending on your chosen distance can be even longer. Not only that, if you move after the chunks rendered it still has to render new ones and let me tell you while that is happening you can clearly see the low quality old chunks and it does NOT look good. Also it can blue-screen your pc. So pass it until it becomes stable.
Bedrock does not have this feature, it is just capable of a much higher render distance than Java. This mod implements a LOD system, which means that chunks further away from you are rendered at a lower level of detail thus saving performance. It can actually render LODs much further away than Bedrock can render chunks.
You have to load the chunks before you can see them with distant horizons, so if you make a new world nothing will immediately change. It’s also REALLY heavy and can cause lag and frame drops easily, unless you have a nasa super computer
This is not true whatsoever. It has a chunk generator so it will keep generating. It also uses LODs to view the distance so it doesn't effect performance that much.
I'm sorry, increase your render distance past its limits to improve performance? Wtf do do you mean? I don't want to be that guy, but did you mean: "increases your render distance, and they use (whatever that technique is called) to not obliterate your PC and also could potentally increase its performance
your explanation of this mod is grossly oversimplified and misleading. it uses LODs, meaning chunks farther and farther away will be rendered at lower resolution and quality than up close. this kind of thing is good for performance but can potentially corrupt your minecraft world.
He didn’t explain this correctly, but if you configure the settings in a specific way it can improve performance. But the main point of the mod is to increase the render distance without impacting performance too heavily
This and Cubic Chunks is what I hoped for Mojang to add so the game runs better.
The one thing I wish is for an optimization bc the game is very off when it comes to them.
