I agree! I was hoping to hear some Silver Side Up riffs in the video. It’s definitely my favorite Nickelback album, best riffs out of all of them imo. The couple you mentioned, plus “Woke Up This Morning”, “Hollywood” and “Hangnail” never fail to get stuck in my head for days at a time when I’m reminded of them. The Long Road comes in at a close second for me as well. But I do get the impression that during the early “Curb”, “The State” and “Silver Side Up” they were just using probably whatever they could get their hands on and whatever they thought might get them a decent distorted tone. When I’ve watched older live Nickelback concert videos in the past I’ve noticed that their live tones varied greatly from year to year, venue to venue etc. I really think it wasn’t until about The Long Road that they were really able to start and nail down a tone and sound that they liked and was unique to them, and even later until they figured out how to convey that tone well live. Some of the live concert videos around 2003-2004 from The Long Road are great sounding guitar wise, others are odd, but that could always be attributed to how they were recorded too. The SSU era live videos and earlier are even more mixed on different tones. But it’s always seemed like to me after about All The Right Reasons they really had one tone and sound they stuck with from then on. It evolved a bit but I didn’t ever notice any major changes live or in studio after that like with the albums leading up to it.
