Its sad that you all are giving Ryan so much shit for using EMGs. He knows what he likes and thats what he uses. Nickelback arent a blues or classic rock band where passive pickups might be better suited. theyre a heavier hard rock band with a very high gain distortion sound and the EMGs handle that very well.

Nickelback may not be what they once were (Silver Side Up), and you can say what you want, but Ryan and Chad are actually really decent guitar players. That "War Machine" Flying V of Ryan's looks sick! I've always liked Nickelback's heavy guitar tone.

(Did the black album which has some of the best tones ever recorded.). Good day haters.

The black PRS is the one he plays for Gotta Be Somebody and is also used as a back up for the les Paul silverburst
I don't know what every ones problem is. I love nickelback. And I really couldn't care less who likes them or dislikes them. I like them because i like the music and have respect for them. They are cool dudes, and despite the fact that people call them "sellouts" they have stayed true to their sound since the beginning, which makes them the complete opposite of sellouts if you ask me. Also, they are probably the best live band out nowadays.

Funny how people who say Nickelback suck in the comments section don't see the irony in the fact that they willingly clicked on a video talking about Nickelback's rig. If they suck, then why the hell do you care what stuff they use in their live rig? I'm not a fan of theirs either, but I like learning about gear, which is why I'm here. What's your excuse?

I honestly don't even think that people really hate them as much as they say because their concerts still sell really well. I think hating Nickelback is more of an internet meme than a legitimate thing.

I think that the hate that Nickelback gets is mostly because of how douchey Chad is, but that rig is really nice, and the 3rd explorer shown looks really nice. I like some nickelback songs, but I totally get why most metal heads (I'm one too) don't like them.

Ya, pero dilo en español sipo, eso de douchy es puro andar repitiendo weas que dicen estos gringos, si Chad Kroeger nunca a denotado ser soberbio, y cuando se pelio con Corey Taylor tampoco dijo nada que no fuese cierto, si este último le gusta tirar mierda cuando puede, además Corey Taylor el mismo confirmo que le tiró beef a Nickelback porque ellos eran más relevantes en Roadrunner Récords que Slipknot. Chad es un tipo que tiene carácter no mas acordé a su rol como rockstar, a los débiles no mas les intimida esa actitud, en lo personal no le veo nada de malo que alguien se crea el cuento, y tampoco creo ni tengo evidencia que Chad haya mirado en menos a alguien solo porque es quien es.

An 80 on the low string? Jesus Christ. I used to use a 72-13 baritone set on my Les Paul for tuning to A# and those were already like playing RF cables. I can't quite imagine playing a guitar with 80's.
Playing a guitar with 80's involves a lot of hairspray, make up and glitter. Or torn jeans and leather if you're a thrasher.

Yes I agree with you. I've seen them in the club days, Give Chad an acoustic guitar and 15 mins in the can and he comes up with hooks and riffs and a complete song. He can shred with the best of them and his a true singer -songwriter and producer.. These shit fuck haters were started by a few shit heads.. yet can't validate one reason why they hate them..They put on amazing live shows period and are pretty humble canadian lads who know where they come from!
That Axe Fx could replace 90% of that rig
Why all these DISLIKEs for this video. It is a very good rig rundown video. Quality is good, questions are good. Overall it is a good production. Whether someone likes Nickelback, their guitarist or their rig is different question.
That being said. Anyone who torches guitars should be torched and...Man that rack setup made me dizzy....

As an Explorer fan I really love that first one they pull out after the hideous V, the rugged ass beat to shit look actually looked REAL good on it.

i see why people would hate on em. they have good songs that get people singing along and do have some unique sounding riffs. ill also add as a gear nerd their rigs are reasonable for their touring and changes in song styles and tunings.
A pet peeve of mine is watching a rig rundown where they aren't specific about tunings. He kind of did but I wanna know all the tunings!

So, what I have learned is that even though the licks don't change the words and the tunings for each song do change. Meanwhile the effects are there but never used.

whats wrong with having EMG's in all of their guitars? between my 2 main guitars i prefer the one with duncans over the one with EMG's but that's all it is: preference.

It does, the truss rod cover would say "Tremonti" on it and the bridge pickup would be uncovered if it were a Tremonti... Therefore it is a Singlecut.
Not all Tremonti's have trems. If you watch Mark live, you'll see him use both his signature guitars with tremolo's and some with no tremolo's. I was watching an interview with Mark, and he says that he uses both versions of his guitar equally as much. And the Tremonti and Singlecut have different cut neck and different body weights.
The Nickleback guys are actually pretty cool. I respect them for how they deal with the hate by laughing it off. Granted they're music is OK, they're not as douchey as people make em' to be.

think about it what style do they play me personally i dont like emg pickups they are a bit to dark for me but they work great for other players ifor heavier stuff i like dimarzio but when it comes to fender guitars i like the classic pickup sound or lace senser gold pickups i have a set of those in a custom made strat they work good in that guitar tried them in another guitar and they sucked lol its all in the wood
I wasn't expecting those PRS's thrown in there. I have to say, PRS is my favorite guitar company. What was that last PRS? Was it a singlecut or a Tremonti signature?

EMGs are hot active pickups, usually played with a lot of gain, Hot pickups and a lot of gain basically makes everything sound the same.
About the 59's... the pickups where handwound and some of them differ substantially in output, hence they all sound different. Somefolks will tell you that it has everything to do with the woods being used, but for me, I think it's much more likely that variable pickup output and tone pot resistance is causing the differences
simple ftw, i only have an epihpone les paul and fender strat straight to my fender frontman 65r. i really enjoy the sound!
also i believe the EMGs in the jag are actualy passive. the HZs.

On the lower edge? It's a battery compartment for the EMG's.
Singlecut. Tremonti's all have tremolos. That is actually the main difference (other than the pickups) between Tremonti's and regular Singlecuts.
Slayer uses EMG's, Cannibal Corpse uses EMG's, Dying Fetus uses EMG's, Black Label Society uses EMG's, Exodus uses EMG's, and a lot of other metal artists.

I just got a used Godin sP90 for 275 at Guitar Center. Thing slays. Godin is good stuff. You should check 'em out. :)
Check out Jim Root's tele, it's really a great guitar and he uses EMGs. Duff McKagan, while playing guitar in his band Loaded has one of those Jim Root teles but he replaced the EMGs with regular black humbuckers, and it looks and sounds awesome.

I don't get why people have massive live rigs, and then stick in an Axe Fx just for delays or one specific function. Even if you prefer a classic Amp Head/cab setup, the Axe Fx could have processed a lot of the things going on in that rig.
I love Ryans distressed guitars. Thinking about doing a distressing job on my explorer. Wish he would bring back his '98 Natural V's
Well you have to remember, they've tour for years with those guitars, plus some people really like the beat up look.
