Everyone slagging off Nickelback on the comments but ignoring the fact their guitar tones are HUGE and they have written so many great riffs. So many metal and hard rock bands have emulated those tones, great demo! MT15 would have got somewhere close as well!
Don't care what anyone says. I might not listen to them a lot, but I quite like their guitar tone. The scooped mids remind me of Load and Reload Metallica tone.
I know they’re not as big as the bands you guys normally do for this series (yet!) but I would like to formally request The Warning… Anyone who doesn’t know them yet, consider looking them up. Three awesome sisters, that make incredible music, with incredible tone to match :)
Not a Nickelkak fan, but great job. So nice to see the old format back again, showcasing the shop instead of straight to the eastcoast and tone city section. These videos are as close as I'm likely to get to looking around the shop. 😂
Would love to see john and ben do sounds like paramore. More specifically the era from all we know is falling - self titled. Going through the tones of both taylor and josh
I bought a Digitech drop this past spring ... expensive in Canada .. very well made and tracks pretty good . I love being able to play alternate tunings with a Floyd literally at the press of a button and no other hassles . Wish I could lay it down like those young Jedi, but I'm a former miner and my hands and back are beat to hell . Get the guys to record busting episodes also please .
I worked security at one of their shows back in the 00's. Their live sound blew me away. The guitars sounded HUGE, and they played a lot heavier than the radio songs.
A spicy take. And I know it wouldn't work for an andertons ad. But one channel interface, laptop, and a Neural DSP plugin will be cheaper than an amp. Spend the rest on a sick guitar and some pedals.
And you missed another element, studio monitors (you could compromise with headphones but that’s a bad choice) it’s still not going to be cheaper but obviously far more versatile and a rig investment with vertical growth
I would take a PRS over the flying V, but the LTD sounded great. The drop pedal choice was spot-on. You guys played really tight together for sure ! Maybe next time take a few extra pieces of gear so you have options before making the final decisions on the rigs ?? Great job either way.
Nickelback videos will always, without fail, bring out all the most surface level music "fans" and bitter musicians, who claim to hate the band and claim to know so much better, yet can not keep away. Nickelback are still going strong in 2024, and im so pleased.
NB playing in my province this weeked. Sadly I have a wedding to go to on the same night. We have tons of us trying to leave the wedding somehow to go see them lol
I think they went the hard way to big sound. Guitars = great. Amps, simple; small valve single channel (Harley-Benton/Bugera/Joyo) and big sound mesa sounding pedal...of which there are several. Just my opinion...which we all have. Either way, super fun video and I love these gents interaction!!! Pure Andertons gold.
Everyone slagging off Nickelback on the comments but ignoring the fact their guitar tones are HUGE. Great demo! MT15 would have got somewhere close as well!
You could make a complete, quality board with just Fundamental Series pedals. I love my delay from that, and the others I've tried have been tempting. (I also fully admit to being a Walrus fanboy, though.)
Nice to see another revisited sound like! can we have sound like videos for Steely Dan (revisited), John Mayer Trio (revisited), Tool (Revisited), Jared James Nichols, Periphery, Van Halen (revisited), Kiss (Revisited), Polyphia, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani (revisited), Metallica (revisited) or Nick Johnston
Nice video. Yall got kinda close. To not bust the bank for both guitarists, guitars u chose are fine. Amp wise i would have gone with the MT15. Pedal wise, u dont use a boost. You'll need a wah, chrous, tremolo, and delay. There are some bits of fuzz and ither stuff but not much else. Very bare bones and simple.
I have a cool challenge idea. Why not do the budget gig rig challenge with a twist. Each person has £1000 but the only decision you have is how much of the budget goes to guitar, how much to amp and how much for pedals. Then you allocate each budget to another person at andertons to pick out that item for you. So for example I give the Captain £600 to give me an Amp, I give Chapman £400 to choose my guitar and £200 to Pete to choose my pedals. But none of them are allowed to know what the other person is buying😂😂
I with you John, I agree with saying Nickelback has some great songs melodically. Despite any rumours about the band, no one should really care about what you listen to. Awesome vid as always guys.
I still don't understand why - when the Digitech is on, and it gets dark, you turn on the TS with the tone DOWN - which should darken it even more, I would think - but it brightens it up. My question would be: Sirs, what the hell?
I definitely went through a period a few years ago when I was on the bandwagon of hating on Nickelback but I honestly love them and they do definitely have some absolutely killer riffs (Burn It to the Ground being the song that really got me into them so I’m happy that you guys did it), great as always and I definitely say you guys got damn close spot-on to the original songs
To all those Nickelback haters. Before rushing to the comments to tell us that "Nickelback sucks" It's old, the meme is dead. Stop *copy+paste* preconceived opinion form a message board before actually listening to their music. And comment an actual comprehensive opinion on their music and style.
These 2 guys are doing a great job of carrying the torch of the Sounds Like series
way better than the two meth heads
While I appreciate it also, it's not the same with rabea and Matt. Thoes 2 had some of that special sause!
I enjoyed watching rabea and Matt for sure, but I know the new guys have the sauce as well. The series is in good hands 🤘🤘
Give us “Nickelback by busting the bank”!!!🎸
yes!
I need as many viewers to like this comment as possible.
@@zaccarter3801 I'm in.
Gibson->Dual Rec x2
This would be awesome
I've just clicked the notification bell - 'this is how you remind me'
So a PRS SE and an MT15 is out of the question? I think y'all missed it 👀🙂
That’s the rig I’d have chosen too
I’m onboard with this, I can understand the EVH but I was screaming for the MT-15 the whole time they were picking out the orange.
The guys did a great video, but personaly, I thought this was an obvious pick.
My legit first thought for an amp was a PRS MT15. Glad I wasn’t the only one
That is exactly what I was thinking.... though I use an ibby through my mt15
I'm 69... I loved Nickleback "back in the day". I still don't get the whole "Anti Nickleback" thing. You guys did do it... great work!
John is an insane player. Very talented and he’s really stepped up in this series. Good stuff!
LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH
very well said.
Beat me to it
LOOK AT THIS SOUNDS LIKE
Everyone slagging off Nickelback on the comments but ignoring the fact their guitar tones are HUGE and they have written so many great riffs. So many metal and hard rock bands have emulated those tones, great demo!
MT15 would have got somewhere close as well!
No
Yeah. Their tone is absolutely massive.
The 5150 Iconic and Orange Dark Terror worked really well together to achieve their Guitar sound. Nicely Done!
my favorite video so far sounds so heavy
They were a PRS band for a long time. I think you could have done this with a PRS SE and made it work
SOOO Happy to see this, Love Nickelback , you guys totally Rock'd IT. Would love to see/hear the No Limit, Rob the Bank version! Cheers from Canada
Great job guys 🤘🏻
I don’t get all the hate, these Riffs are absolutely siiick !!!
I love watching these guys doing the Sounds Like series.
I would absolutely love to see Nickelback BY Busting the Bank, most definitely.
Don't care what anyone says. I might not listen to them a lot, but I quite like their guitar tone. The scooped mids remind me of Load and Reload Metallica tone.

Really enjoying this new series of Sounds Like - these guys are great.
Watching John sit like that with the V hurts my soul, sit as if it were a classical guitar between your legs. Way more comfortable that way
footstool nowhere to be found, but I feel ya
This is how you remind me to play my guitar 🤙🏼
I would love to see a By Busting the Bank!
Playing the drum part at the beginning of Animals on the guitar was... wildly impressive
Not a Nickelkak fan, but great job.
So nice to see the old format back again, showcasing the shop instead of straight to the eastcoast and tone city section.
These videos are as close as I'm likely to get to looking around the shop. 😂
google maps street view lets you walk around the shop :)
the duo are back again from one subscriber recommendation lead to many more.
Always loved them, despite the hate, but even more than their guitars sounding HUGE their drum sound is INCREDIBLE.
Would love to see john and ben do sounds like paramore. More specifically the era from all we know is falling - self titled. Going through the tones of both taylor and josh
First jam was freaking awesome!
Sounded bit like volbeat in the beginning. Ooh that would be nice. Volneat without busting the bank!

Great series, great duo.
Would like to see one about Pantera maybe one day.
Amazing content as always, now please do Sound Like Falling In Reverse without busting the bank. Would be awesome
I worked security at one of their shows back in the 00's. Their live sound blew me away. The guitars sounded HUGE, and they played a lot heavier than the radio songs.

I think these videos are something you would use at a gig. Not at home
most excellent vid guys.
Drop pedal is a game changer
Not sure if you had one at the time, but the PRS MT15 Mark Tremonti amp head would've done very well for the price bracket you guys were working with
its been 10 years since the last nickelback wobtb, WHEN IS BUSTING THE BANK GONNA COME OUTTTT
Cool video! Great tones
What tuning are you using on the 6 string guitars? Then drop down 3-4x semi tones with the pedal?
Been looking forward to this one
Good job on the sounds. Joyo Zombie with a decent cab might be a boogie option?
i just like the amount of effort they put in compared to the others.
I would take a PRS over the flying V, but the LTD sounded great. The drop pedal choice was spot-on. You guys played really tight together for sure ! Maybe next time take a few extra pieces of gear so you have options before making the final decisions on the rigs ?? Great job either way.

They don't even have much of a fanbase in Alberta, Canada, where they're from (and my home province).
@JowSithm absolutely not true. It is is no longer cool to hate on Nickleback anymore.... you can admit you like them now.
@@GoofieNewfie Not really.
@@JowSithm errrrr that's a lie, why are you making stuff up?
@@JowSithmas a Canadian that’s so far from true 😂
NB playing in my province this weeked. Sadly I have a wedding to go to on the same night. We have tons of us trying to leave the wedding somehow to go see them lol
Absolutely love what you guys are doing!!!
I have only heard the songs that were on the radio 12 trillion times . I think maybe that is what happened to them .
Wow that was awesome!
I think they went the hard way to big sound. Guitars = great. Amps, simple; small valve single channel (Harley-Benton/Bugera/Joyo) and big sound mesa sounding pedal...of which there are several.

Pure Andertons gold.
Amazing tones! Keep it up.
Deftones Analog edition please!
Or if digital, please do a better job than the first video 😢
Everyone slagging off Nickelback on the comments but ignoring the fact their guitar tones are HUGE. Great demo!
MT15 would have got somewhere close as well!
You’re doing great guys!!
Now this is how you remind of Nicklebacks tone.
Oh man, the comment section will be on fire!
I came straight here, and it's a bit disappointing
You could make a complete, quality board with just Fundamental Series pedals. I love my delay from that, and the others I've tried have been tempting. (I also fully admit to being a Walrus fanboy, though.)
Nickelback by busting the bank
Motley Crue without and by busting the bank
I’d love you guys to do stereophonics. Kelly jones gets some killer rock guitar tones
Nice to see another revisited sound like!

I couldn't agree more about the MT15, literally a rectifier clone for so cheap
Who want's to sound like Nicklback.
Guy in the back "Yeahhhhhh...."
Saw NB back in the day, make sure you save some money for the pyro!
Would've loved to hear some drums during the songs. Tone sounded great
Well done

Nah, you’re alright mate. 👍🏻
That jacket is dope bro
You can dislike their songs, but their (guitar - and drum for that matter) sound is awesome.
This is how you remind me how they used to sound.
I’d like to see a “sounds like…” for Breaking Benjamin
I'm glad you acknowledged they are polarising , personally I would rather sound like Joe Pasquale.
keep these up!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let's have Billy Talent by busting the bank!
,,Sounds Like,, - 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I with you John, I agree with saying Nickelback has some great songs melodically. Despite any rumours about the band, no one should really care about what you listen to. Awesome vid as always guys.
Still waiting for a sounds like Scorpions !
I like those new guys, great job !
PS: i'm sad you didn't play older stuffs like Too Bad or How You Remind Me
I have a question hand ✋️. What setting does the drop pedal need to be on to play burn it to the ground?
Sound like, more we want (busting and not busting)
I still don't understand why - when the Digitech is on, and it gets dark, you turn on the TS with the tone DOWN - which should darken it even more, I would think - but it brightens it up.
My question would be: Sirs, what the hell?
DIGITAL J O H N!!!
Do Sound Like Tigercub!
Ghost live tone please (post 2019, imperatour specifically)
Nickel back?
That’s hilarious.
Please do a Chuck berry sound like by Busting the bank
Could you guys do Fontaines DC without busting the bank?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Try just pulling a garbage truck up.
BUST THE BANK
So This Video is Kinda "Sound like Nickleback...but if you cant afford it just buy whatever you can"
To all those Nickelback haters. Before rushing to the comments to tell us that "Nickelback sucks"
It's old, the meme is dead. Stop *copy+paste* preconceived opinion form a message board before actually listening to their music. And comment an actual comprehensive opinion on their music and style.
I'm here for a busting the bank
I would not think this is something anyone would want! The only thing we can learn from this video is what not to do!
Look at this photograph
Every time I do, it makes me rath
I'm still dying for a sound like Dream Theater, mostly because I think it'd be a hell of a challenge.
Petrucci has a plugin and it’s about as close you’d get without actually playing his studio rig.
Definitely needs higher gain but the orange sounds best
Step one: look at this photograph
why does nobody go for a budget end modeller into a PA or FRFR speaker on these? lol
HX Stomp and a 10" powered cab would get you way closer ;)
These guys chemistry is always fun to watch! Anyone noticed how tight they're playing together?? Greetings from Finland
The fuzz probably sounded weird cause ur running the drop before it. Fuzz typically should be first in chain.
What was the setting for Burn it to the ground on the drop pedal?
Never made it as a wise man…
I couldn’t cut it as a poor man stealin…
