Quote: macpac22 Dont understand why Andertons dont sell these as 'Sound Like' promo bundles to go along with the videos. Knock off a few quid to make it cheaper to buy them all together.
It sounded far better than the previous attempt at the cheaper price. In my opinion this sounded closer than most of your Sounds Like videos, and I know these albums extremely well. They were a huge part of my High School experience.
Sound like Mike Campbell (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) Without Busting the Bank?? Also, the "Fell on Black Days" excerpt gave me goosebumps. I'm still upset about them all lately, Cornell, Bennington, Bowie and Petty. They're all HUGE losses in my musical universe.
This would be awesome! My crack at it would be any 60s style strat hardtailed (bonus point for a 50s neck), Hot Rod Deluxe 4x10, and a compressor, probably something really sharp like a Dyna Comp. It's a pretty simple rig, Nile is one of those guitarists where the tone is pretty much all in the fingers. well it's also in the Hitmaker, but according to him, no other guitar in the world sounds like it ;)
Den I//Noble Russkie it sounds like a simple rig with not much pedals (a compressor is enough actually) but at least trying to dial in to get as close to the chic sound as possible would be great especially to people trying out playing the guitar for the first time and show that its not mostly in the gear but how you dial in your tones at the gear available to you and practicing techniques ;)
EVH Wolfgang with a floyd rose Marshall Origin or DSL combo MXR 5150 Overdrive MXR Phase 90 (for Eruption) MXR EVH Flanger (for Unchained) MXR EVH Chorus and a Dunlop Cry Baby Wah (for Poundcake) he does have a signature wah but it's too much money
William Allison I think that would be perfect! I was a little skeptical when you mentioned the Origin but since you would get all of the gain from the 5150 OD, it would sound amazing, although they would probably use a Charvel to be closer to his original style
I'm a big Soundgarden fan and I tell you, you did great! Sounds like the recording. Good job with the "Without busting" video too! Keep it up, really dig the series! Cheers from Bulgaria
Chris Cornell is very much still alive in the way we continue to honor him. He was the best of the best and music misses him so much. Thank you for doing this!
Thanks guys. I think you must have realized that Soundgarden was by far one of the top 90s bands when you went back for a listen. I appreciate any tribute to Chris Cornell. Thank you.
Great tones on this one, I’m a fan of his work with Temple of the Dog above Soundgarden and Audioslave but love all his work, a truly unique talent. RIP Chris X
Damn dudes!!! Made me cry!! Huge fan of all Chris stuff. Sound garden was one of my faves back in the day and then got hit by audioslave when in high school. Thank you both very much for this video!! Love em all but this is the best I've seen.
I had to throw down one more comment just to say how much i LOVE the looks of that particular Gretsch. That sort of British racing green with the gold hardware and black scratch plate just compliment each other so nicely. (drool)
Great work as usual, guys, Chris Cornell and Kim Thayil would be proud of this tribute. I'd still love to see Sound Like Megadeth, Van Halen, Primus or Avenged Sevenfold Without Busting The Bank or Sound Like Metallica or Motörhead By Busting
This sounds great. What I always liked about Kim's sound, especially on the first couple of albums is that he had a pretty basic, inexpense setup. Peavey VTM and the Guild were pretty much his sound.
Omg that green PRS Tremonti!!! Guys, you really should go Tremonti's solo band by busting the bank, Matt playing Eric Friedmans rig, Rabea doing Marks rig would be incredible
Love the “sound like” series and this is my favorite so far! I enjoyed it so much that I convinced myself to buy the Keeley Dyno Mo Roto because of that amazing Leslie speaker tone on “Black Hole Sun.”
it was shocking to hear about Chris' suicide that day, and also emotional for many a musician like Dave Mustaine now seeing Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day has a new gibson out, can we do BY busting the bank Green Day?
Yeah that was such a huge shock for me. It has happened a few times over the years, what with also Scott Weiland from that era and also from Velvet Revolver.
I love every piece of those rigs. You could play just about anything with what you had there. I was a fan of every album Cornell ever did. Wonderful job gentlemen. Gave me chills. I'd still like to see you try VH. I hope you're all having a great day.
Wow, so this is actually an example where I can 100% say that these tones sound better than the Without Busting gear. Usually it's a lot closer or it's actually not better to my ears but this time it's noticeably significantly better.
Thanks a ton for doing this one guys! Love hearing stuff from my favorite band, Soundgarden! Been trying my best to learn as many of their songs as possible even though I've only been playing for about 8 months. Outshined sounded sick, definitely my favorite riff you guys played today. Now I just need Bush without busting and my life is complete!
For me, when someone from a band I like has died, I don't listen to the band for a few weeks to mourn the death of the band member in question, but then I listen to the music of the band in question again with the thought in the back of my mind that a band member of the band in question has died and while I'm listening to the music I say to myself: "What beautiful music this person made".
I can think of two bands I'd love to see on this series, both for without busting and by busting. Lagwagon, and Red Vox. They're both pretty awesome underrated bands with pretty awesome and unique tones, in my opinion.
Got into Soundgarden when Louder Than Love came out. Good job with sounds on this. That Hampstead sounded pretty damn good as well. Pingu Metal really should be the next big thing. Maybe call it Pingu core?
Sounds great! We just did a Chris Cornell tribute show in Israel, I used a Line 6 Variax JTV 59 to get many guitar sounds, and a POD HD500x for distortion pedals and effects into a Bugera V22. The guitar is the most expensive in my rig, and it all sounded great. Other guitarist used a tube combo as well and an Epiphone custome of some sort, into a HD500x as well for effects. Third guitarists used Gibsons with a tube amp and analog pedals, we all sounded great :)
It's such a shame... I was just listening to Rusty Cage yesterday, my all time hauling ass on my motorcycle tune. A lot of good memories from the 90's and exactly what I was doing/where I was at when I heard Blackhole Sun... The summer of 1994, laying back in a hammock trying to get some sleep on the side a lake near Austin, Tx on vacation. Good thing I had a *CASSETTE* to record it! I wore it out too...😂 You did good, really good!
Another brilliant job guys, spot on. Also that Gretsch....I visited Andertons recently and I too was drawn to that very guitar It looks even better in real life (and it looks good on screen) lighter than I thought it would be too, just too rich for my budget but i am getting to that age where I keep looking at those types of guitar and thinking mmmmm..nice.
Beyond amazing as always! Tragic loss in the music community too. Couldn't help but keep peeking at the Boogie that Rob bought in the beginning of the video though
Yeah Chris played Mostly Gibson Les Paul threw either Peavy/Mesa or Marshall until Superunknowen, which he started playing Gretsch and Fender Telecaster, the guitars your talking about is what he used on the reunion tour, he didn't play on Outshined. You're correct with Kim, but he used to play Peavy amps, then switched to Mesa
I will never forget the morning I got up to find "How to sound like Soundgarden without breaking the bank" and then an hour or so later reading the news that he had passed away. Unreal

Dont understand why Andertons dont sell these as 'Sound Like' promo bundles to go along with the videos. Knock off a few quid to make it cheaper to buy them all together.
Probably because they would be losing Proffitt.
Probably because the video is going to make some people want to buy that gear anyway
They'd rather discount shit no one's buying
So not just plain ole profit but gigantic American capitalist style ProFFiTT???
Yeah a 10% discount or something would be cool
becasuse the gear they use is not avaiable forever so if they don't have a piece of gear the entire discount wuold be useless
It sounded far better than the previous attempt at the cheaper price. In my opinion this sounded closer than most of your Sounds Like videos, and I know these albums extremely well. They were a huge part of my High School experience.
Both rigs sound great, but DAMN, Matt's Gretch into the Friedman sounds epic!
SuperUnknown came out when I was 15. I'm almost jealous of someone getting to listen to it for the first time again. It's so, so good!
I was 16. There was so much great music coming out at that time.
goosebumps with black hole sun, sounded exactly the same in my opinion !
Sound like Mike Campbell (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) Without Busting the Bank?? Also, the "Fell on Black Days" excerpt gave me goosebumps. I'm still upset about them all lately, Cornell, Bennington, Bowie and Petty. They're all HUGE losses in my musical universe.
and Tom Petty too, he need to be there too, RIP Tom
Been requesting that one for a long time time. Fingers crossed!
Same Here. been requesting this one for a long while. Hopefully the boys will hear us.
If you haven't already, you MUST check out Mike's guitars documentary. It's bloody fantastic!
www.dailymotion.com/video/x6g58e4
Mexican tele and an AC15, maybe a delay pedal if you can swing it. Boom, youre done
Sound like Nile Rodgers please! Or any funk/disco :)

Kim Dabs fair enough!
This might be the best one you've done so far. Close you eyes and Black Hole Sun sounds 99% identical, even the scratchy slide sound is there.
This whole thing whether it’s by busting the bank or without busting the bank, I love the series keep up the good work
Sound like eddie van halen!!!!!
EVH Wolfgang with a floyd rose
Marshall Origin or DSL combo
MXR 5150 Overdrive
MXR Phase 90 (for Eruption)
MXR EVH Flanger (for Unchained)
MXR EVH Chorus
and a Dunlop Cry Baby Wah (for Poundcake) he does have a signature wah but it's too much money
William Allison I think that would be perfect! I was a little skeptical when you mentioned the Origin but since you would get all of the gain from the 5150 OD, it would sound amazing, although they would probably use a Charvel to be closer to his original style
They'd probably never because it's so hard for Rabeah (or anyone) to sound like Eddie!!
That's easy...bring Eddie to Andertons
William Allison he uses a flanger on 90 percent of the stuff he does live
I'm a big Soundgarden fan and I tell you, you did great! Sounds like the recording. Good job with the "Without busting" video too! Keep it up, really dig the series! Cheers from Bulgaria
Been waiting on this since without busting.
Rip chris
Got to say boys...
You did a great job once again. Going to request pixies, stone roses and kasabian again though. 😂 can't help maself
Thank you.
Would love to hear Sound like Robby Krieger from The Doors!
Great tones on this one, I’m a fan of his work with Temple of the Dog above Soundgarden and Audioslave but love all his work, a truly unique talent. RIP Chris X
Probably the best one yet. Sounds super close to me. Nice work 🤘
Pingu tone was also spot on.
Loving that black hole sun intro. And the Pingu rendition.
Even through cell phone speakers compared to the previous attempt to sound like, you can hear so much more harmonic content. It sounds badass.
Nailed it gents. Couldn’t have gotten much closer with their actual rigs. Awesome tones
That bit about both of you missing the boat on Soundgarden is making me feel ancient (I'm a SPRY thirty-nine, thankyouverymuch)
Damn dudes!!! Made me cry!! Huge fan of all Chris stuff. Sound garden was one of my faves back in the day and then got hit by audioslave when in high school. Thank you both very much for this video!! Love em all but this is the best I've seen.
Sound like the Clash! Also Prince, very underrated guitarist
Great choice guys. Everyone loves soundgarden.
This was absolutely spot on tones Chris would be proud
I had to throw down one more comment just to say how much i LOVE the looks of that particular Gretsch. That sort of British racing green with the gold hardware and black scratch plate just compliment each other so nicely. (drool)
Great work as usual, guys, Chris Cornell and Kim Thayil would be proud of this tribute. I'd still love to see Sound Like Megadeth, Van Halen, Primus or Avenged Sevenfold Without Busting The Bank or Sound Like Metallica or Motörhead By Busting
Really liked Matt's rig on this one. That Gretsch + Archer + Friedman is killer.
This sounds great. What I always liked about Kim's sound, especially on the first couple of albums is that he had a pretty basic, inexpense setup. Peavey VTM and the Guild were pretty much his sound.
Thanks. He will be missed by all. Nice tribute. Cheers.
Brilliant video. I picked up a Broadkaster Jr in Cadillac Green a week ago. That guitar will go anywhere you need it to.
Sound like Radiohead BY busting the bank.
Yesss
All the pedals, a tele and a nice vox amp
Omg that green PRS Tremonti!!! Guys, you really should go Tremonti's solo band by busting the bank, Matt playing Eric Friedmans rig, Rabea doing Marks rig would be incredible
they should do a BY busting Mark Tremonti video with the green PRS, Mesa Boogie Rectifier and all of his pedals on his board
This is probably the best one you guys have done. Sounds so close.
A year ago, had not really listened to Soundgarden. So much respect lost.
Love that green finish on the Gretsch
The Hampstead would be perfect for an AC/DC cover band. Simple and meaty
Love the “sound like” series and this is my favorite so far! I enjoyed it so much that I convinced myself to buy the Keeley Dyno Mo Roto because of that amazing Leslie speaker tone on “Black Hole Sun.”
but he didn't even mentioned he used the dyno with the walrus julia. Did you get the sound with the dyno?
sonic youth next please
Yeah... good luck with the guitar part on "Dirty Boots" :p
I just want to know how the hell they get those weird tunings
Really spot on. The only thing it needed was one of your guys voices screaming out of the harmonics in the Loud Love intro a la Chris
I laughed so hard at the Pingu theme ahaha
Pingarden
it was shocking to hear about Chris' suicide that day, and also emotional for many a musician like Dave Mustaine
now seeing Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day has a new gibson out, can we do BY busting the bank Green Day?
Yeah that was such a huge shock for me. It has happened a few times over the years, what with also Scott Weiland from that era and also from Velvet Revolver.
Worlds Most Mediocre Guitarist don’t go so hard on him, he got sued by his mother when he was 11
Worlds Most Mediocre Guitarist like a moth, in a bath
@@a.s.3491 oh god no, not for a kid starting out.
311 without busting the bank. One of my favorite bands unique sound and from my hometown
A Jeff Buckley Sounds like would be amazing! Really underrated guitar player
I love every piece of those rigs. You could play just about anything with what you had there. I was a fan of every album Cornell ever did. Wonderful job gentlemen. Gave me chills. I'd still like to see you try VH. I hope you're all having a great day.
Sound like Tame Impala!
Matthew Cory we need it
yes please
Easy. Get a Les Paul or a strat, pump it through a Marshall or fender Amp, and have 20 or so pedals in between.
Jake Anderson no one in the band uses Marshall or fender amps. They use vox
Fabien Dolan damn, you're right haha my mistake.
Wow, so this is actually an example where I can 100% say that these tones sound better than the Without Busting gear. Usually it's a lot closer or it's actually not better to my ears but this time it's noticeably significantly better.
Wow, that Blackhole Sun intro was spot on!

Sounded LOADS better than the previous! Great video as always guys.

I'm in love with the Gretsch!!!! Please so Slayer.
Love these sound like vids! Keep them coming gents
Damn the Intro of Black Of Hole Sun. They 100% nailed it! Wow.
Great stuff again guys. Please do sounds like Prince (early mid 80’s)
Absolutely awesome once again. Now Sound like Lynyrd Skynyrd!
You completely nailed it from the first slide note! Awesome stuff dudes - I REALLY need to send you guys some of my pedals
Intro to Rusty Cage was amazing - Well done guys.
Awesome as always, love going into the intricacies of finding a specific guitar tone. Sounds like Periphery would be a great one to do!
I can think of two bands I'd love to see on this series, both for without busting and by busting. Lagwagon, and Red Vox. They're both pretty awesome underrated bands with pretty awesome and unique tones, in my opinion.
You guys nailed the tones this time around!
This definitely sounded like SoundGarden!!!!! Great work lads
Everything sounds amazing and especially rusty cage
BRING BACK THIS SERIES
Holy crap that rusty cage intro sounded exactly like the original, good job.
Another fantastic video, and one of the better mixed. Often one of the guitars is much quieter, but this is great.
Sound like Tame Impala. Great job boys. Black Hole Sun intro was bang on.
It's such a shame... I was just listening to Rusty Cage yesterday, my all time hauling ass on my motorcycle tune. A lot of good memories from the 90's and exactly what I was doing/where I was at when I heard Blackhole Sun... You did good, really good!
FINALLLY IM SO HAPPY
absolutely beautiful sounding rigs
Dan Steinhardt has a Hamstead Artist in his arsenal that has made lots of TPS appearances, very nice amp
Love these videos guys. Please keep them coming. I’ve watched everyone you guys have done
Yeheeeaaah! Is what I said when I saw this. Love these videos so much, do not stop making them.
So good, love the tones with both of those rigs!
Black Hole Sun sounded spot on
we need a Sound Like Dorje!!! Whether you bust the bank or not is up to yous guys.
Beyond amazing as always! Tragic loss in the music community too. Couldn't help but keep peeking at the Boogie that Rob bought in the beginning of the video though
great job, thanks. And SG is difficult with their use of tuning and effects, combining amps.... great rigs, and that Hampstead, wow!
Excellent job guys! Nice amps rock! I never liked gold hardware, but the green/gold Gretsch is truly classy. Pull the trigger Matt!!!!
Great video! Big fan of sounds like & soundgarden. I'm buying that exact pedal setup that Rabea is using what a great tone! Great job Matt & Rabea.
I'd really like to see a MUSE by busting the bank. So many excerpts to use and a ton of different sounds to work with.
I bloody love Soundgarden.
Awesome job guys. I'd love to see a Sound Like Big Wreck episode.
We need a sound like Ghost. Their tone is incredible.
That Gretsch looks awesome!!! Great video 👍
Great Sound! Keep up the good work guys always enjoy all y'all's videos
Yeah Chris played Mostly Gibson Les Paul threw either Peavy/Mesa or Marshall until Superunknowen, which he started playing Gretsch and Fender Telecaster, the guitars your talking about is what he used on the reunion tour, he didn't play on Outshined. I will never forget the morning I got up to find "How to sound like Soundgarden without breaking the bank" and then an hour or so later reading the news that he had passed away. Unreal
Great job! Had no idea about the last video’s timing. Suggestions: Megadeth, Sigur Ros, Korn, Mogwai.
Great vid, I would like to see a sounds like The Living End (Chris Cheney) without busting the bank
That’s it ! I’m getting a Firebird
you guys got some killer tones with that gear
The Beardy Boys crush it again. Great 'sode. Maybe sound like Eddie Hazel?
You guys should do sound like Architects! some chunky tones and nice delay/modulation as well!
Damn boyz you nailed it!! 🤘
Love Soundgarden.
Excellent Kim Thayil beard, Matt.
Proper laugh out loud at Pingu. Firebird sounds badass. Great video.
