Just a few hours after this video went live we heard the sad news that Chris Cornell had passed away. I did think about taking the video down out of respect, but ultimately decided to leave it up & donate any advertising revenue that it generates to charity. Once more details about his passing become clear, I'll choose an appropriate charity. Chris was one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time. His work with Sound Garden & Audioslave will never be forgotten. Our sincere condolences go to his family & friends. On behalf of Lee & all at Andertons, RIP Chris Cornell.
I'm in disbelief! Can't believe hours after sharing this video, feeling good about our attempt, we get this awful news. For me personally, Chris Cornell was one of my favourite vocalists and songwriters. Listening through some of my favourite tracks this morning was harsh. Thanks to Lee for choosing to donate the Ad revenue to charity! I hope that In light of recent and saddening news that you enjoy this video. Cheers Rabea
2und2sind4 How is it distasteful? It's not like Chris was the first person to ever die. Sure it sucks but that's life for you. I think a BY busting the bank could be a good tribute towards the mans career. Life sucks, people die, the world moves on.
I'm actually really glad you guys kept this video up. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, and this is a genuine, sincere tribute to Chris Cornell's music.
Rest in peace Chris Cornell. I'm so devastated by your death. Such horrible timing. An inspiration for everyone, you set the standard for modern vocal prowess.
Really Sad coincidence that Chris passed away just after you guys made this video , another weird coincidence from my own personal life is i was just getting back into Soundgardens music when this happened have been listening to lots of the old stuff lately so is sad now we wont hear it live again RIP Chris Cornell
Two years on and I just watched this again. Got choked up the moment they went to the video room and I heard 'Bea play that slide on Black Hole Sun. Something about it just ending and Chris's voice not coming in to sing the first line that hit me like a truck all over again that he's gone. "No one sings like you anymore" - Chris Cornell
I still think about Chris all the time. I do a couple Soundgarden/Audioslave songs in my band, and I always think about him every time I sing those songs. One of my biggest all time vocal influences and sounds like he was an all around great dude. The music lives on forever.
I was actually awake when you guys released the video and then heard about Chris' passing. It was SO bizarre and surreal. RIP Chris I think you guys did a GREAT job of pulling off the sound. Especially on the intro To Black Hole Sun and Rusty Cage
Just heard about Chris Cornell and am absolutely stunned. The first thing i thought of was that only last night I watched this video and had no idea what was about to unfold. One of the all time greats and will be sadly missed. Well done on leaving the video up and donating the monetisation - good call guys and a fitting tribute.
Just woke up, got the notification about this video and then read the description, unbelievable way to find out. Tragic news about Chris and props to you guys for donating the revenue to charity. Imation being the sincerest form of flattery, I think this is a great tribute to his work.
I was about 5 when i first heard soundgarden. First song was outshined, and to this day (18) the tone reminds me of a perfect motorcycle. The grit and purr of the riffs were absolutely amazing, and finding out the album was called bad motorfinger just made me keep thinking about it. R.I.P. Chris, your voice, tone and you in general will be missed and always remembered \m/
Yeah, for that reasoning and that the custom gibson he plays has lollartron pickups in it, I think the gretsch was the perfect choice. I really think they nailed it on this one.
Watched yesterday and imediately started to listen to Soundgarden and Audioslave. Woke up this morning to the news. Still can't believe it. A one of a kind voice has been silenced. RIP Chris!
Amazing job guys, that Grestch guitar sounds gorgeous! I have always been curious about the tones on Blackhole Sun and you lads have demystified that for me, so thank you. Insane timing...just speechless today. Cobain, Weiland, Stanley, now Cornell, not at all comfortable with the fact that the great artists I listened too as a kid and grew up admiring all have gone. If we honour them through music, they will always live.
This video does him tribute. Great job Matt & Rabea! I'm from the Seattle area and I was gut-shot when I heard this morning that Chris Cornell had died. I hope people will use this tragedy to honor him and his music.
Such a weird coincidence that you put this up right before the news of his death... Good of you guys to kee it up, let it be a tribute to one of the great rock vocalists and songwriters. I only recently realised how much I listened to Soundgarden at the time, Superunknown and Down on the Upside were pretty much the soundtrack of my high school days. RIP Chris.
I live in Seattle, Soundgarden basically formed right down the street from me as a kid..I now know what it feels like to have a celebrity death effect me. Kurt Cobain died when I was 12ish so I didn't comprehend the situation. When Lane from Alice In Chains died I was a little older but was more selfish and had a "dammit no more tunes from them" attitude more than sympathy. Now at 34 years old, all I could think about was Chris' family and how sad the whole situation is for Seattle let alone the world. I'm equal parts sad and passed off. An empty feeling that can eventually be patched, but never filled. R.I.P. Chris...you truly were the Robert Plant of my generation.
Eric Hammer yea it’s odd how we change as we grow older. I’m 33 but when Kurt died I was heart broken because I had it rough as a kid and after being abused I would retreat to my room and get lost in nirvanas music. It was like loosing family or a best friend who was always there through the hard times. When layne died I felt the same as you. When Cornell died he was supposed to play rock on the range in Columbus and the whole concert was Metallica, than a ton of 90s bands like bush, live, soundgarden etc. I ended up getting stiffed out of my ride to the show that was 45min away but when I heard he died my thoughts instantly went to his kids and wife. Such a tragedy when you have the world in your hand but ones mental illness is so bad that they feel the only way out is death. He was deff one of the best, if not the best, vocalist of our time
I just stumbled upon this now, and immediately thought it was a tribute. Good on you for donating to charity. Intentionally or not, this is a fitting tribute. Chapeau!
What timing. This was the last thing I watched before bed last night, and then first thing I heard this morning...! Sad, but happy that we can all share the magic that is his music.
Thanx guys!! I'm sure that yesterday thousands of rockers all over the world played Soundgarden music and even more apriciated what has already been reckognized as a most unique piece of RnR art ever. My heart is broken but at the same time cheerfull for what i see how much Chris is beloved by virtually everyone in the world of rock music! Sang like an angel, screamed like banshee; say hello to heaven Chris and show the creator what really means beeing devine!! Playing Soundgarden songs is not easy by any means, but today every rock band on the planet should do one, wheater it's rehearsal or gig!
Recently I thought that you could try to collect rigs that would be good for a specific genre on three diffrent budgets: really cheap/ begginner, medium price/ mediocore, expensive/ pro. For example 1000£, 2250£ and 4000£? You could try to find guitars, amps and pedals for genres like Indie, metal, punk etc. Think about it, love your videos! Cheers
Thank you guys for doing an episode about Soundgarden. What an unfortunate coincidence after releasing this, Cornell left us. I'm glad you guys did this before he died and it's not just a hype video to get views. I really respect the donating revenue and video overall. I just saw Soundgarden 2 weeks ago at Fort Rock and Chris Cornell looked very healthy, and happy to be playing music. I and my very thankful, it was my first and last time seeing him. Rest in peace, thank you for everything and all the precious memories.
Smashing Pumpkins have two guitarists, Billy Corgan and James Iha for Billy get a Fender Standard Stratocaster with a maple fret board, Egnater Tweaker 15 cos i saw a cover of Cherub Rock using a strat and Egnater amps and the clean tone sounded bang on close to the original track even though he has a marshall cabinet, and for FX get an MXR Phase 90, A Fulltone Catalyst, a Boss CH1 Super Chrous and a Boss RV6 Reverb if you're just focusing on Billy then Matt can get a Gibson Les Paul Custom for backing guitar
I feel you two did a really good job on both sounds well done guys. I've been crying all day. Chris Cornell was my main reason for starting out in music. It's my belief we may get to see him again one day in a better world. What a amazing man and voice and talent. My prayers are with his family
Fantastic tribute and great idea on the charity part. Really love your channel fellas. You guys should do a Coheed and Cambria segment! That would be pretty awesome. Chris Cornell you will be missed, but blessed this world with some awesome tunes! Rest easy Chris.
It's so sad that you guys released this video a day before Chris' death. I haven't listened to them before and this video encouraged me to checkout their stuff. I'm so sad that we've lost a great guitar player. RIP Chris.
Man, this is appropriate. RIP Chris. You were one of the defining voices of rock music and possibly one of the finest vocalists ever to have graced the planet. Hat's off to you fella. Rest in peace.
Good for you for *NOT taking the video down. I can understand why that thought occurred to you, but as a fan of Sound Garden, and Chris in particular - as well as being a tremendous fan of the content that Anderton's produces, I am glad that you posted this video.
One of the best Sounds Like's you guys have done. That Black Hole Sun tone is really spot on. This even beats some of your By Busting videos, imo. I can't believe this was released the day of Cornell's passing. Kind of a weird Synchronicity in that.
PRS aren't the cheapest for sure, but they also aren't the most expensive. His Korean signature model doesn't bust the bank. As for the amps, in the heyday of their sound (Watershed and before) he used a Laney head on tour only for the power amp. The tone came from the BOSS GT-100.
That was so crazy to be reading today in the US. I watched the video right after you put it up yesterday and then the news happened today. It's a crazy world full of crazy things.
man I just watched this video a couple of days ago and was so pumped to go learn some new Chris Cornell and soundgarden songs. then I heard the news. how awful. Will be learning those new songs ASAP as my own tribute to a legend. l just saw Chris last year and was inspired to go buy a new guitar right away.
So sad right now. RIP Mr Cornell :( Your legend will live on. I also want to point out that when you talked about choosing the Gretsch over the Gibson, you mention his signature 335 but you failed to point out he was an avid user of gretsch throughout his career and it's a perfect choice for his woody tone on songs like Black Days (check out the music video, it's almost the same guitar). Great video though. Rock on Andertons and thanks for doing your part to keep his influence alive.
I have just googled Chris Cornell's Charity it is called The Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation. It advocates for vulnerable children and works alongside other organisations to raise awareness and support for those facing homelessness, poverty, abuse and neglect. Lee I think that his wife and children would be so appreciative of support from your store and this what was a sounds like but is now a tribute to an amazing singer/songwriter/musician.
Him and his wife had a charity, all the money they rased went to kids who are striken by sickness, hunger, abuse and addiction... It would be nice if you gave the add revenue to his charity. Ever since Chris founded it with his wife a percentage of all his concert tickets went into it, and now more than ever it should be talked about and people should be made aware of it so it can continue to help those children in need! It is called the Chris and Vicky foundation, you can look it up! And we should do our part and like and share this video and tell the people that it is for a good cause. Rest in peace Mr.Cornell my thoughts are with his family and his dearest friends, I will forever love him for the music he trusted me with.
my favorite singer is gone as of last night. Chris Cornell was a paragon of power in my personal music journey and I am shocked at what has happened. I will be eternally grateful for the gift of his music that he gave to us all. I wish his family and band mates all my condolences.
Just a few hours after this video went live we heard the sad news that Chris Cornell had passed away. Andertons Music Co
RIP to Chris Cornell
Good on you guys
no reason to take it down.
It's stuff like this that keeps me coming back to Anderton's, always keeping it classy. RIP Cornell, you'll be missed.
I'm in disbelief! Can't believe hours after sharing this video, feeling good about our attempt, we get this awful news.

Now you have to do a BY busting the bank
...the most distasteful comment I've read in quite some time
To which comment are you referring?
Horacio Garcia's
2und2sind4
How is it distasteful? It's not like Chris was the first person to ever die. Sure it sucks but that's life for you. I think a BY busting the bank could be a good tribute towards the mans career.
Life sucks, people die, the world moves on.
When a "Sound Like..." suddenly becomes a tribute.
RIP Chris Cornell.
No one can sound like them now , Chris Cornell R.I.P
Completely nailed that Black Hole Sun intro. I was waiting for the vocals to kick in.
I thought the timing was actually off if you listen to the riff again
Well this is a good tribute to Cornell seeing as he just passed away... RIP
This was uploaded a few hours before he died.
Good call leaving this up and donating to charity from adsense big thumbs up, watching this again anow out of respect R.I.P Chris another hero gone.
I'm actually really glad you guys kept this video up. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, and this is a genuine, sincere tribute to Chris Cornell's music.
RIP Chris
Matt W scary coincidence except there are no coincidences

RIP Chris. So far watched this video 5 times trying to help out as much as I can to get those charity funds up.
Pumping out the sound like videos, really appreciate the quality content as always guys!
Thanks man, appreciate that!! :-)
Man, those Black Hole Sun tones were SPOT ON. Great job guys. Much love to Chris Cornell.
oh hey you're the guy who nailed plug in baby with a big muff
No way... the same day that this was uploaded, Chris Cornell has departed. :( RIP.
Strange how life works out sometimes.
MIR jp!
Rabea looks like he gives great hugs
Malcolm Boyd oh I do!
Rabea Massaad I knew it!
I was at the concert last night and Chris (R.I.P.) was playing Dusenberg guitars and suhr amps
Chris Barnes I've read and seen several things about the show. Did he seem off to you?
I don't think that Chris killed himself. It's implausible. I think there's something the police don't want us to know.
Yeah. I just miss him so much. I cried. I cried for Chris Cornell.
RIP Chris Cornell
yep..
I still think about Chris all the time. I do a couple Soundgarden/Audioslave songs in my band, and I always think about him every time I sing those songs. One of my biggest all time vocal influences and sounds like he was an all around great dude. The music lives on forever.
RIP Chris, please do Electric Wizard, Sleep, Kyuss, All Them Witches
if you're doing Doom metal i may aswell add Sunn O)))
Well you seem to be to be a very knowledgeable person that I want to be friends with
All you really need is a big muff pedal
I saw your post guys earlier and I think its a perfect tribute in memory of Chris Cornell. His legacy will live on.
Weird that I saw this today at the same time as I read that Chris Cornell just died... so sad.
Santi Hurtado the same happened to me
Same here. A bit shocked and sad at the same time
Same here....
I was actually awake when you guys released the video and then heard about Chris' passing. It was SO bizarre and surreal. RIP Chris
I think you guys did a GREAT job of pulling off the sound. Especially on the intro To Black Hole Sun and Rusty Cage
Queens of the Stone Age by busting the bank
Jake Rolo189 they did josh homme but it was kinda shit. But yeah it would be cool to see troys rig too.
Man, they could bust the bank so hard with Troy's rig.
And also with Josh's guitar... he using a 5000 dollar guitar....
RIP Chris your music will never be forgoten you legend. ♥
this gives the line “no one sings like you anymore” a whole different meaning. can’t believe it’s been almost a year
Just woke up, got the notification about this video and then read the description, unbelievable way to find out. Tragic news about Chris and props to you guys for donating the revenue to charity.
Imation being the sincerest form of flattery, I think this is a great tribute to his work.
I've waited for this sounds like for so long ! Damn it sounds great !Sounds like Karnivool would be awesome !
I'm pretty sure Chris Cornell played Gretsch guitars during the Superunknown years.
he has a singlecut electromatic in the BHS video
BHS Being Black Hole Sun
Yeah, for that reasoning and that the custom gibson he plays has lollartron pickups in it, I think the gretsch was the perfect choice. I really think they nailed it on this one.
Yeah, he was all about those Duo Jets and Sparkle Jets during that period. It's why he has Filtertrons in his 335's.
I sign that, Cornell played Gretsches during "Superunknown" - Period, earlier he played Gibson Les Pauls.
Watched yesterday and imediately started to listen to Soundgarden and Audioslave. Woke up this morning to the news. Still can't believe it. A one of a kind voice has been silenced. RIP Chris!
Smashing Pumpkins (Siamese Dream/Gish era) and Brian May would be super rad
Amazing job guys, that Grestch guitar sounds gorgeous! I have always been curious about the tones on Blackhole Sun and you lads have demystified that for me, so thank you. Insane timing...just speechless today. Cobain, Weiland, Stanley, now Cornell, not at all comfortable with the fact that the great artists I listened too as a kid and grew up admiring all have gone. RIP Chris cornell, what a legend. 😭
This video does him tribute. Great job Matt & Rabea!
I'm from the Seattle area and I was gut-shot when I heard this morning that Chris Cornell had died. I hope people will use this tragedy to honor him and his music.
FINALLY YOU BEAUTIFULLY BEARDED GUITAR MACHINES!!!!!
Such a weird coincidence that you put this up right before the news of his death... Good of you guys to kee it up, let it be a tribute to one of the great rock vocalists and songwriters.
Chapeau!
Sound like The Cure - They don't get enough credit for their unusual styles and sounds, especially in the early to mid 80s.
Yes, do this.
Definitely nice to see some fender VI action..😍😍
Luke Mcdowell Yeah, And "A forest" - great flanger use
What timing. This was the last thing I watched before bed last night, and then first thing I heard this morning...! Sad, but happy that we can all share the magic that is his music.
Sound Like Sleep or Electric Wizard? Would be great to get some love for the Doom scene on here!
Thomas Carmichael Can't forget about Weedeater and Windhand
kyuss, all them witches
Thomas Carmichael Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats
sounds like baroness
all them witches should be pretty easy: les paul, boss BD-2, fender 2x12 combo, digital delay. nothing too fancy
For example 1000£, 2250£ and 4000£? You could try to find guitars, amps and pedals for genres like Indie, metal, punk etc. Think about it, love your videos! Cheers
That's a pretty good idea
Nic Wilson thanks man :)
I'd enjoy that
Thank you guys for doing an episode about Soundgarden.
Sound like The Smashing Pumpkins
If they do The Smashing Pumpkins I am gonna splurge everywhere
I was thinking the same thing! Fuzz, phase, wall of sound, layer it up about 90 times and there ya go!
Smashing Pumpkins have two guitarists, Billy Corgan and James Iha
for Billy get a Fender Standard Stratocaster with a maple fret board, Egnater Tweaker 15 cos i saw a cover of Cherub Rock using a strat and Egnater amps and the clean tone sounded bang on close to the original track even though he has a marshall cabinet, and for FX get an MXR Phase 90, A Fulltone Catalyst, a Boss CH1 Super Chrous and a Boss RV6 Reverb
if you're just focusing on Billy then Matt can get a Gibson Les Paul Custom for backing guitar
I feel you two did a really good job on both sounds well done guys. I've been crying all day. Chris Cornell was my main reason for starting out in music. It's my belief we may get to see him again one day in a better world. What a amazing man and voice and talent. My prayers are with his family
OPETH PLEASE!! From Blackwater Park on tones are just awesome. And their music is legendary.
YES! I reckon the solo from Death Whispered a Lullaby would be fun :)
Fantastic tribute and great idea on the charity part. Really love your channel fellas. You guys should do a Coheed and Cambria segment! That would be pretty awesome. Chris Cornell you will be missed, but blessed this world with some awesome tunes! Rest easy Chris.
Probably the closest to the recorded tones I've heard in one of these. I was super impressed by it.
It's so sad that you guys released this video a day before Chris' death. I haven't listened to them before and this video encouraged me to checkout their stuff. I'm so sad that we've lost a great guitar player. RIP Chris.
R.I.P - Chris Cornell. You will be so missed!!!!
You guys fucking nailed it! Honestly, I think this may be your best one yet! Unreal timing, but I am glad you kept it posted. Keep up the great work!
Rest in peace Chris Cornell, you will be missed ❤️❤️
Galaxy Soundtracks But not forgotten
Absolutely nailed the tones gents! I can't believe Chris Cornell has passed away, he was one of my heroes. May he rest in peace xx
Man, this is appropriate. RIP Chris. You were one of the defining voices of rock music and possibly one of the finest vocalists ever to have graced the planet. Hat's off to you fella. Rest in peace.
tragically ironic that timing of this video after the news that just came through
I was watching this when I heard Chris passed from this world. it was an eerie moments but I'm glad you donate it to his favorite charity. :)
Chris Cornell just died. R.I.P. He was an amazing singer, maybe the best.
The timing of this video is simultaneously impeccable and heart-breaking. Good job by the Anderson's crew.
Smashing Pumpkins?
Good for you for *NOT taking the video down. I can understand why that thought occurred to you, but as a fan of Sound Garden, and Chris in particular - as well as being a tremendous fan of the content that Anderton's produces, I am glad that you posted this video.
NOICE! but please, Sounds like Michael Schenker/UFO or Nuno Bettencourt just to make Bea happy
One of the best Sounds Like's you guys have done. That Black Hole Sun tone is really spot on. This even beats some of your By Busting videos, imo.
I can't believe this was released the day of Cornell's passing. Kind of a weird Synchronicity in that.
Muse By Busting COME ON!!!
The timing of this vids release was incredible. So happy you two did him justice. Well done guys.
Sound like Claudio Sanchez and Travis Stever from Coheed and Cambria.
RIP Chris, Soundgarden were a huge part of my formative years. Glad to see Andertons are keeping the video up.
Sound like Helmet without busting the bank?
Brae Scanlon - I'd love to see a variant of sounds like where they focused on other instuments... like drums. Helmet would be good for that too
I love these vids, glad you guys kept it up even in light of the news about Cornell's passing.
Pls do Korn
See now there's a good idea, they have a really unique, interesting sound.
Fuck corn! Wheat for life!
Freddy Cammegh wtf?? hahahahahahha
wow. What timing. good on you guys for donating the ad revenue. This will be great to watch in light of the news.
Awesome! Weezer or Descendents next?
the timing of this video brought out a lot of emotion. loves soundgarden. excellent tribute guys. (even though it was unintentional)
Can you do a Sound Like Opeth - without busting the bank?
The Opeth sound is pretty unbusted bank already. For years and years Michael used the old BOSS GT-100, only until the last couple albums.
Dylan Neuens and a Prs custom 24 haha
Dylan Neuens yeah but what about all the prs guitars and amps, those bust the bank by themselves
Eagles-Don Felder/Joe Walsh???
this
I've wanted this for so long! THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS!
And the time that you uploaded this was interesting, considering you upload it 2 days before Chris croaks...
Just heard that Chris Cornell passed away. I'm devastated, Soundgarden has been one of my favorite bands since I was 10 years old.
Rest in peace.
man I just watched this video a couple of days ago and was so pumped to go learn some new Chris Cornell and soundgarden songs. then I heard the news. how awful.

Smashing Pumpkins of the 90s era it's pretty simple... strat with lace sensors red/silver/blue, big muff, marshall jcm900. :)
David RF Whatever, I just wanna see how they do it
Not to mention that's not in budget at all and they can't get a strat with sensors.
kasper adam Lisowski YES! Those two would be amazing!
Mutron bi-phase all over 90s pumpkins. Would be a great challenge w/o busting
my favorite singer is gone as of last night. Chris Cornell was a paragon of power in my personal music journey and I am shocked at what has happened. I will be eternally grateful for the gift of his music that he gave to us all. I wish his family and band mates all my condolences.
