- A mild Kermodian rant about the Martin Lawrence family comedy. Also reviews Face Addict and Zero: An Investigation Into 9/11, and includes Kermode's oft-repeated story about his unsuccessful appeal to get Last House on the Left released uncut.
This another rare gem of Kermode ranting on lots of films I'll never watch.

The bit at the end when Mark is mocking the Warhol doc is priceless! Maybe one of his underlooked gems.
I agree and that was half my reason for uploading this video alone. The other half was the bit about Donny Osmond.
The load of 'family entertainers' in the dock for historic sex offences often against minors in the past few years has totally proved Mark's point. Serial offender Jimmy Savile, family and kids favourite for decades Rolf Harris, Stuart Hall, those 'nice' DJ's and there are more to come.

Never seen the movie, but I'm gonna take a wild stab in the dark at the plot.
Martin Lawrence is annoying. He ruins the titular college road trip. The daughter gets pissed off and tells him off, and Martin Lawrence apologizes. The end.

Kermode is right - I've met Doug Bradley, David McNaughton and Robert Englund and they were a pleasure to meet. The people who made this pile of tripe, I have no knowledge of and would prefer to keep it that way.

While on the topic of things he often says:
"Let me be absolutely clear about this" (has some variations) - bearable.
"Boom, and if you will, boom." - ugh!
"I'm sorry!" - UGH!
"Did I miss a meeting?!" - PLEASE stop saying this! It sounds so hackneyed, something I wouldn't expect from him!

This is the most mean spirited review I’ve seen Kermode do lol. Martin Lawrence is terrible in this movie but saying he has no talent is kind of harsh

Interesting analogy about ;People who make Horror films are some of the nicest Folk ever, yet People who make Family Comedies are some of the most terrible folk around? Maybe it's true! I must admit ,I have always thought Martin Lawrence was overrated! dx
