Heard it. Several times. Classic review obviously, but this was much, much worse. With Kate Hudson I already expect hell on earth, but this was pretty rough. :-)
@QuatermassMan I still think Gerard Butler can act. I like him. And don't get me wrong, I love his rants. They're so spot on. And he was DEAD ON about one thing: Quinten Tarantino doesn't write "characters." They're all him! They all talk the same! They are all HIM! And he's right! Particularly in Death Proof. Ugh! 30 minutes of kick ass, exhilirating action and 90 minutes of blah blah blah.

As for Kill Bill, I don't see the point in making a kung fu movie with actors who force you to cut like Michael Bay during the fights. We'd already seen Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao ect, so unless you're going to show actual martial arts being performed, I'd rather the fighting resemble Terence Hill and Bud Spencer. I'd trust Tarantino's reviews though. :-)
@QuatermassMan I think Tarantino is the mos pretentious filmmaker in the world, and his pretension is his image. I can't even watch Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction anymore. So I agree with that. It's imposible to be too cool for school once you think so yourself. Tarantino is finished, since it's extremely rare for a man approaching 50 to suddenly grow up. :-) Personally, I grew up at 28.
@dilmao I like Gerard Butler. I think he can do comedy. He just happened to be in a film that isn't funny. And I do not like Aniston. She can't do comedy! She just acts quirky. Quirk doesn't always equal laughs.
@QuatermassMan Jennifer Aniston has tons of comedic chops more than Gerard Butler, and she isn't funny. So I don't exactly agree with that. For that matter, Gerard Butler can't act period. But that's alright, few actors can, and few of the movies of those who can are great either. That's why Kermode's rants are pure bliss. :-)
@QuatermassMan You think Gerard Butler can act and you moan about Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino has started to annoy me but Gerard Butler couldnt act in a Tarantino movie if his life depended on it.
Watch "The Good Girl." Jennifer Aniston is still beautiful (so so sorry Kermode), but she plays a much smaller person. Good little movie that I recently scoped for flaws and and could find no fault.
@dilmao I like Resevoir Dogs and I love Pulp Fiction. But I did not like Kill Bill so much. WAY Too self concious and pretensious. His last few movies have been, as Mark says, "Fanboy claptrap." He just makes movies based on, and sometimes totally ripping off, other peoples movies. Basterds was good, but it was way too long and he uses other movies music--totally takes me out of the movie.
"Is it worse than Leap year?"
*pause* "Actually, it is"
"My word..."
Kermode at his best. Epic reviewing right here.
'oh, the hilarity, the bounty hunter that is set out to catch her, is her former husband''
I'm laughing already!
LOL "I really wish you hadn't put that image in my head."
Mark's Butler impression won me over.
It's a thorny problem - I hate lousy movies, but without them, what would Mark Kermode complain about?
half way through they forget about the bounty Hunter storyline and it becomes a buddy cop film .
I bet they thought this film idea was AMAZING in a meeting around a table drinking skinny lattes...
Hahahahah this is hilarious

Tell me about it!

At least Kermode is a fan of horror movies.

They both pale in comparison to the clip from Marley and Me which he played in his review.
aniston was hot!
@dilmao take a look at Marks bride Wars review. Much worse sound clip on that

I think that is the most torturous sound clip I have ever heard. Seriously! Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston in a comedy... No.

I know i'll be in a minority here but i found Gerard Butler's comedy in The Ugly Truth ok.
