Don't Swim THIS Fast! It is Dangerous!

- It is likely that you will hurt your shoulder swimming fast if you don't know the two golden rules of freestyle swimming.
Moving your arms fast doesn't mean you are swimming fast.
If we look underwater in slow motion we can see that the swimmer who is moving his arms fast is not pulling well. In fact, our shoulders hurt immediately from swimming badly.
The swimmer who pulls well follows the two golden rules of freestyle. This makes him use bigger muscles, swim faster and protect his shoulders from injury. The first rule is:
1- Scapular upward rotation while the shoulder internally rotates. I'll explain.
We’ve explained this in past videos, but here's another explanation along with exercises to create muscle memory.
To swim correctly we want to reach this position. Commonly called high elbow catch. Seen from the side, the elbow is above the line that connects the shoulder to the hand.
The second golden rule is:
2- Sufficient rotation of the chest.

My self-taught way of swimming with the principle of not sinking and getting to the end of the wall turned out to be wrong. Glad I found your channel so I can learn from your channel. Thank you
Advice from my coach is: to go fast, do proper technique fast
Awesome! Exactly what I needed to know abt ground practice. Thanks a mil!
This is a great channel for a beginner like me. Every video makes me look forward to my morning swim
Big help thanks mate

O mais didático dos canais. Jóia!
Thanks a lot indeed sir
Amazing tips
Nice and very useful tips.
Thanks!
Very helpful technics ❤️
감사합니다!!
I rotate, high catch and glide almost by natural posture. I've been getting faster with what seems like less effort and less arm and leg movement.
Could you share what your 100m pace is for something like a 500m swim?
@@allydea why is that relevant?
Very creare, thank
Thank you so much for the tips and exercises! I try not to make bad habits into muscle memory as a new swimmer.
I agree, drills using swimming equipment it big help to improved fast.
Explained clearly
Fantastic
God bless you. Thank you so much.
Keep working.
Good luck!
Raul, I still go back to your video about 4 ways to swim freestyle. I keep thinking about the windmill style which all the men use in the 50 meter sprint. Women don't use it as much as the men do. Anyway, I am thinking that they tend to use less body rotation in that event, and less extension of their arms. Kind of a 'you just don't have time to do that' situation. Comments???
Thank you!! Great video!
Glad it was helpful!
I always getting good swimming improvement from watching your videos. Just looking forward to have a training camp with your team
Cheers
Thank you!
Muito bom vídeo.Amei as explicações, os exercícios e os demonstrativo.Agora vou treinar muito.Obrigada!
I started swimming a month ago, and your videos are helping me a lot.
Thank you so much.
Veo que sólo da dos patadas y avanza igual o más. Así quiero llegar a nadar y, luego, hacerlo más rápido. ¡Gracias por este video!
Best instruction ever!!! 🎉 Extremely versatile! You might want to variate your chest exstension with hands on the wall exercise with using the ellbows (in a slightly closer angle). A beautiful stretch of the trapezius and the rib cage is the result.
Yeah, that's why I always watching I learned many things to improved my skills ng swimming.
Keeping the scapula and the arm on the same plane troughout the motions is key for shoulder health.
Awesome! Thank you for explaining so well the proper arm movement to pull the water effectively. I am getting closer to a proper movement. I will try it on land with a stretch band to see if I can improve my arm movement. Thanks for your recommendations, very helpful.
Впечатления : очень интересно, убедительно, поражает тонкость, точность передачи движений, а предложенные упражнения имеют значительную ценность.
You are the swimming guru!!!
This is really important if you want to learn effective crawl, great tips, conti to share more tips more power.
I assume this is a new channel. There should be millions of subscribers of this channel since you can find maybe most useful informations for new or mid/level swimmers.
Nice🎉
I would love to see a video from you for a 30-45 min HIIT swimming training. With tips for how to do it to avoid injuries. Recommended combination of swimming styles for warm up and the high and low intensity phases. Also considering the alternation of pressure on muscle groups to avoid exhaustion of certain muscle groups. Thanks. I am sure it will get a lot of views :)
I would to see swimming training thank you
Agreed, would be a terrific idea for a video! :D
Do you have any videos on how to extend the amount of time you can exhale? I can’t stay under long enough.
This is true, I was doing a set today with fins and I found that I could faster if I stopped spinning my arms and had a longer more powerful stroke.
Love from India ❤️
Fr gonna take your advice right before my next swim practice
My goodness! so many things to control! I am so discouraged to swim thinking I won't be able to make it right 😮.
Good👍👍👍
Could you give 4x200m (2021) relay a watch
In women’s event 2nd swimmer from the Australia team has a deeper catch for 200m freestyle
And in mens 4x200m event the last swimmer from Britain has a deep catch instead of an high elbow
Thoughts?
I want to ask, for someone who had a back surgery and their doctor advises him to start professional swimming, from where to start? especially the person is not swimming enthusiasm
Glad to see the 2 examples on one screen.
I wonder what is nowadays the technique for the arms when you’re pulling yourself forwards. Do you make a ‘S’ or straight?
Straight back with as much of a high elbow as you can manage.
I REALLY NEED THIS!
hello, take it easy, what is the name of the background music?
hi i am loose jointed and can band my body farther than normal what should i do
my record for 50 m in 34 second, i want to swim under 30 second, but i cant, i will try all these technique, if it works i will write again, see you 2 months later. I'm on holiday in July and I'll try to hit the target at the end of August.
That's my record time too. Also stuck. Looking forward to your update.
Hello?
؟؟ hii🎉🎉
I started out as the guy just tossing the arms in front of myself like I'm a wodden board with treadmill arms swinging around for more than 1-2 years.
After that I watched your videos, esp the 1:05? min one. I started thinking about swimming so much I even stared dreaming about it where I did include the stretching out my finger to the wall and strechting my body like a spaghetti ...
After a few weeks i was down from 1:35-1:40 to sub 1:30 swimming for 100m quite easy with felt less effort in throwing my arms around myself. Quite cool, even swam a triathlon in the lake with 1:34 pace, which is the fastest I've ever swam.
Fast forward after corona and not exercising as much, I'm now back to swimming and experience pain in my shoulders which I've never had before. Not even when i stared out as a wodden board.
I guess this has now to do with streching out to much and not having the muscles supporting this movement .. So now I'll try to include the movements from the video. Hope this gets me back to where I ended and not having to go the wodden board way which took quite a long time. Or maybe still doing this just to build up some mucles. Idk yet which path I'll follow despite knowing which should be followed.
Thanks for your work, this channel kept me from giving up on freestyle as a "land" athlete.
i love how everytime he says 'fast', it sounds exactly as when he's closing the video with the wise words 'swim fast!'
That's interesting 😂
I been recently doing 10 200m and after the first 200m it already starting to hurt a lot thnx for this video
That's interesting I'm used to do the Z movement. Will try this today
My mom got me to the sea at 4 years old. I was afraid of going in it, but when i finally went in the water, i didnt want to go back home and i just wanted to stay in the sea. I want to say that i think that what matters the most is the first time you meet the water
I have been learning to swim for 5 and a half months we are just starting to learn how to do front crawl with the arms
I find it really hard
Some of the time I have no idea what
My arms are supposed to be doing.
🔥👍👊
3:36 DO DIS
I will show this video to every begginer swimmer. It's a must see. Comprehensive knowledge in a short practical video with animations and proper dry land techniques.
Please put Turkish subtitle
Great video, but what’s up with that sad music?
we exist in a time where an individual can decide to commit the small tips for the important things to memory and have the best mentor at a moments notice ready with instruction and subject to global ridicule. exercise power, maybe save someones life or create a hobby.

0:13 I dont get why many of these technique showcase videos always portray a "good" or "erfortless" technique to be like this, with both arms stopping the rotation at the pull and kind of waiting for the other arm to finish the rotation, and that 1 stroke 1 kick cycle, in my view this is pretty effortless but realistically it is too slow to be in an actual race compared to a smooth constant stroke and kick cycle
That was the point. Showed that moving fast without technic is not better than moving slow but with perfect technic. It was never mentioned to swim like this in a competition. It was to debunk a swimming mit.
Me trying to beat the national record
Thank Mr.helpful
Haven't watched the vid yet
help me i need to improve my 100 free by 2 seconds to make the state time and idk how i can
