Phelps "wingspan" was longer than he was tall perfect for swimming). Usually swimmers are really good at one stroke, he was "world record" good at many. And the form he had.. Just look at his butterfly. Freaking poetry in motion. He’s doing this same night. Like bro I don’t think anyone can understand. He’s doing qualifying swims every single night, multiple. Sometimes multiple final races in one night. To go all out to get gold on 200 fly and then come back and beat the most talented field ever in 100 fly?? That’s insane. Absolutely insane. This was the most magical Olympic performance ever. Bolt’s career you can look at and say maybe he had the same type of caliber career as Phelps in the Olympics. He literally went Perfect with his events so I’ll give him a chance. But what Phelps did here in this Olympics was pure pure magic. Every inspiring word, that’s what this was. I’m sore after 30 minutes of chill freestyle in the pool haha
Correct. There has never been a swimmer who can set an Olympic record in a sprint event and then a distance event. That just doesn’t exist lol I swam in college and we split groups distance mid distance and sprint
Actually they were supported by technical outfit that helped them swim much faster. After that, the technical outfit was not allowed to be used in other competitions.
Reason he got those metals is because his lungs were huge. Mother lived somewhere high altitude and marks lungs were huge ..only reason he won all those medals...
Only swimming allows someone to compete in so many races. Don't get me wrong it's remarkable but a heavyweight boxer can't compete in lower weights and track field athletes can only compete in few events.
I can’t even imagine just how tired he was in his final race after going through 7 brutal races. That 100m butterfly will always be the craziest race ever though.

That just doesn’t exist lol I swam in college and we split groups distance mid distance and sprint
i'm not american but this guy is a hero and great inspiration.

Michael Phelps, Carl Lewis and Ian Thorpe

He dominated the 200 free final.
Reason he got those metals is because his lungs were huge. Mother lived somewhere high altitude and marks lungs were huge ..only reason he won all those medals...
Nobody will get 8 gold medal in a single olympics ever that record is untouchable
8 Gold Medals, 8 Olympic Records, and 7 World Records... Astounding!
Only swimming allows someone to compete in so many races. Don't get me wrong it's remarkable but a heavyweight boxer can't compete in lower weights and track field athletes can only compete in few events.

I wonder what it must feel like coming to a global event held once every 4 years, surrounded by literally the best athletes in the world and STILL knowing you're gonna win ezpz.
Believing you will win not knowing
Phelps knew
believing is for people who compete... not for phelps and bolt... they dominate...
This feat will easily go down as the greatest Olympic feat in history. No one will ever be this dominant in multiple disciplines. If there's ever one person who can win every event in an Olympic decathlon, then we can talk about the greatest feat ever, but until that happens, this will remain the greatest.
