lmfao i remember when i was stuck in plat and truly it was my fault i always blamed my tm8s because i thought i was playing perfect but i started to watch my replays and it really showed me what i was doing wrong i was to aggressive i wasnt commiting to hard and was leaving my tm8 having to deal with a 1v2 and i used to tell my self if i was in a 1v2 i could of easily saved it, as i started to change my play style i quickly realized patience is key to a game like this you also have to focus the enemy players not just the ball an or yourself you have to have awareness of what's going on you have to be able to read plays, learn how to 50/50, fake plays, fake challenging, when to challenge and alot more things a plat still need work on. As for me im stuck in d3- c1 in 2s. im not much of a grinder but i hate losing and im not entirely sure why i lose alot in 2s as im d1-2 in 1s. I started playing alot of 1s and i got pretty damn good at 1s but in 1s you play alot safer and more patience and in 2s i have the same playstyle i started playing super safe and patient in 2s witch allowed my enemies to have time with the ball witch is not what you want and i dky i even said all this but i did
@@HKBoba What do you use to edit/what method? Please can you reply in as much detail as possible I think it would be really cool if a rocket league youtuber would explain their thought process during editing
Lol hey yeah discord would be better. But I use sony vegas. Honestly my thought process depends on my audience. I knew with f2p it was about time to make a new tips video. So I knew I'd like to target he silver-> plat range. So step 1 is to do research. Provide free coaching for friends and viewers on the discord in that range. I give them a series of 5-6 tips. And they let me know which tips worked for them after a few days. Then that acts as a voting process for me to figure out which tips will make it into the final video. Back when I was a new player as well. My tips videos are more....peer tips and not so much. Me coaching. Then from that perspective. As I ranked up. I always jotted down which tips I heard from coaches and youtubers worked best for me. And those are the ones I focused on In my older videos. By using myself as the guinea pig
Great roundup man. Good tips in there! One thing I'd like to emphasize, though, as I feel like it helped me a lot: Experiment with the camera and controller settings on your own. Don't stick to some pro's settings and expect to instantly improve. I've tried lots of settings I found on RUclips, but only recently have I fiddled around with them on my own, and found settings that gave me much better overview over the field, and made me hit my shots much more consistently. I was struggling especially with the "easy" shots, like drive / shoot the ball straight into an open net and hitting the kickoffs right. Often times, I was missing the ball by just a little bit. Ever since I customized the controller / Dodge deadzone, steering sensitivity, etc. to fit my playstyle, I feel like I made a huge step in the right direction, when it comes to consistency. A further camera distance also helped. Even though I might have to change this again, once I get more into dribbling and aerial play. I just feel like some of the settings in RL are hard to explain, and have more to do with feeling and personal preference. Just experiment and see how you like it. And don't be afraid to go away from the stuff other people recommend. Your personal "comfort zone" might be different from what other people like :)
I saw one of your videos and now I watch all of them and learn alot first I watched celling shot video because I wanted to become good at freestyling and now I can do it but nit in every shot. But right now I am a gold
Tip for diamonds: If you are low boost and can't get the ball to a team mate keep the ball close enough to you to get a 50/50. Heavy touches can give the ball right to your opponent like a slow roller up the wall or a hit off the side wall that bounces into the middle for a shot. It seems obvious but you see it all the time! Awesome content I can't believe I haven't seen your videos before. You have a new sub!
This is a great tip and so true. Honestly it was on my list but had to be cut for the other 10. Taking a 50-50 forces at least 1 opponent out of the equation. It's like you're 'taking them with you' out of the play haha. Thanks for the new sub! And great tip 👌🙏🥳
Your tutorials are so much different from other RL youtubers, they make understanding everything so much easier Unrelated: Your intro made me want boba tea
I'm a 48 year old and I love this game. Using mouse and keyboard is so difficult though so I'm going to use xbox controllers. I think this videos will set me off well. I'm always silver ish. Doesn't help that my eight and nine year of sons use my account! Great video.
From a champ player, awesome video dude 👍 I wish I had a video like this when I was in the lower ranks. 6:11 awesome drill that is extremely underrated. Knowing the position of the "pennies" is crucial at higher ranks. And obviously dribbling is an awesome skill to have. Can't recommend a drill like this enough. 9:54 about double commiting: always keep in mind that your teammate most likely won't be looking behind them. If you for example want to go up for an areal, but see your teammate in front of you, there's a high chance he'll jump as well. Even tho you were up earlier, he couldn't have know this cuz he didnt see you, therefore this double commit is on you. If you feel like you really have a superior position for the arial, use Team quick chat (probably "I Got It") to let them know you're going. 7:36 For myself, what map is that? Would love to give it a go 😜

My frustration is I will once in a while have tm8s that whiff every time. I’m in silver 3, but that’s bronze level stuff. You should be able to hit a ball on the ground smh
I started playing two weeks ago and have watched a lot of “tips” videos but this one is far and away the best. The drawings on the screenshots are particularly helpful, along with the examples of what not to do.
Just don't jump. Drive under them as a fake and rotate back. Most aerials your opponents go for are probably bad and will end up just passing the ball to you
I hit Diamond in the middle of f2p Season 6. I wish I had seen this video back in Season 3 when I started. These tips are the absolute essentials that can push you into Platinum that I foolishly learned through hours and hours of gameplay. Thanks for the dribbling practice tip 👍

Wow. I've seen a bunch of Rocket League tutorials, but have never seen one as helpful as this. I usually don't subscribe to a channel until I've watched them for like, a week. This channel is the exception. This is by far the best tutorial for Rocket League I have seen, especially because there is so much in this video that I can relate to. That defensive advice regarding staying by the far post is something I definitely want to incorporate into my gameplay. Thanks!
hi my name is Malcolm Mallyplayz. started playing on rocket league in early October 2019. A friend recommended it to me. from the first game i was hooked and started to see the learning potential in this simple but complex little gem. i started to watch RUclips videos and was drawn to this video and watched it quite a few times. i subscribed the very first time i watched it because i knew it was just what i needed to start improving. i just watched it again after not watching for about a month and after many hours of practice in free play and grinding in ranked and casual i am doing everything in this video now consistently and improving everyday and all because of the way you break down everything so simply. thankyou your videos are great and i look forward to learning lots more from them. your a great teacher never stop being you..

AWESOME video boba, I think the only tip I would add is that at a certain point you need to learn to respect your teammates and give them space when they try to work (namely when they are dribbling ether that’s offensively or defensively)

CHANGING THE SETTINGS WAS INSANE BRO I WENT FROM SILVER 2 TO GOLD 3 IN ONE DAY WINNING EVERY SINGLE GAME AND WON A PLAT TOURNAMENT AS WELL THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I am stuck in Gold because I am mechanically better, but can't use them because my opponents aren't smart enough. Like you can't fake someone that goes for the ball. Highr level players predict where the ball will go, but lower levels just go right for the ball. So I can't fake them out 😂
I’m a gold player but something that really helped me and no one else seems to do is rebinding the boost on console. (Using PlayStation control) I put my boost as Square and my power sliding as L1 so that I can comfortably boost and jump at the same time without readjusting my thumb
Thanks for the tips Boba. You deserve my sub. I started 7 days ago and i got the air roll down in training. Including free play doing some drills and custom playlists. But in a match i always miss my aerials. Until i watched this vid yesterday and took your advice at positioning... Ive been touching most of my aerials since. Big difference. Thank you for that. I couldnt understand why i couldnt get my aerials down in a match until i saw this video.
I am gc and these were all good tips. Trying to convince my low ranked friends to wait in midfield for passes is so annoying so im glad you covered that
(this is true). the tips definitely could be for any rank. just... more focused/less mentioning of the corner cases and details to simplify them a bit for a more broad rank spectrum.
I want to say thank you man. I watched your tips and I went up from plat to diamond thank you so much I’ve been stuck in plat 3 for a while and your video helped me achieve diamond
Awesome video man. I trying to slowly get to grand champ and this stuff is very helpful. It’s always good start back to the basics of everything to truly understand what you have to do.
Awsome video, as a returning player from 2015 this helps a lot. One problem I seem to be having is knowing when to use ball cam and when to not use it. Ill have moments where the ball is right above my car and the angle is so awkward I cant really grab it, good video, cant wait to see more
ah. so usually that isnt a problem with ur ball cam vs car cam thats a problem with being too close =) cause even if its ur ball to play. u always want to fly a bit horizontal into balls. OR the bal is flying horizontal into you. and u fly striaght up to it. but either way. 1 of u either hte ball or the car should be moving across. and if the ball is above u like that. unless its during a save and ur in goal or something. usually a mistake with positioning. Dont use strong mechanics to hit difficult shots. use smart rotations to make difficult shots easy :)
@@HKBoba ohh okay, that makes sense. Thanks for the advice, I like that last qoute, cuz i always try to go for more mechanically intensive stuff when i don't really have to. Also I really appreciate it. Im definitely gonna be asking more questions lol if you don't mind.
This may be a good tip to throw out. There are a couple pros who don't do this, but binding directional air roll buttons are extremely helpful. It's hard to get used to, but my aerials improved almost immediately!

lmfao i remember when i was stuck in plat and truly it was my fault i always blamed my tm8s because i thought i was playing perfect but i started to watch my replays and it really showed me what i was doing wrong i was to aggressive i wasnt commiting to hard and was leaving my tm8 having to deal with a 1v2 and i used to tell my self if i was in a 1v2 i could of easily saved it, as i started to change my play style i quickly realized patience is key to a game like this you also have to focus the enemy players not just the ball an or yourself you have to have awareness of what's going on you have to be able to read plays, learn how to 50/50, fake plays, fake challenging, when to challenge and alot more things a plat still need work on. As for me im stuck in d3- c1 in 2s. im not much of a grinder but i hate losing and im not entirely sure why i lose alot in 2s as im d1-2 in 1s. I started playing alot of 1s and i got pretty damn good at 1s but in 1s you play alot safer and more patience and in 2s i have the same playstyle i started playing super safe and patient in 2s witch allowed my enemies to have time with the ball witch is not what you want and i dky i even said all this but i did
im down to play with you whenever im on ps4 doe ..😭 my gt is my yt name
I dont know how I found this rl channel but I love it
welcome! :)
@@HKBoba What do you use to edit/what method? Please can you reply in as much detail as possible I think it would be really cool if a rocket league youtuber would explain their thought process during editing
@@swettispaghetti4310 if he doesn't reply here dm him on discord he usually responds there too
Lol hey yeah discord would be better.
Hey boba I'm new to the channel but great vid dude I'll make sure to sub
Great roundup man. Good tips in there! One thing I'd like to emphasize, though, as I feel like it helped me a lot:
Experiment with the camera and controller settings on your own.
Welcome for the channel!!
Just saw this in my recommended. Dunno why, dunno how.
But this deserves a sub.
Very good editing. Nice!
Thank you! Welcome to the channel
Glad I can help smaller channels. Maybe you'll get into the race to 100k subs lol.
Is that still going on?
haha i have no idea. who would it even be between. thanovic, sledge, cbell and wayton pilkon?

Your tutorials are so much different from other RL youtubers, they make understanding everything so much easier
Unrelated: Your intro made me want boba tea
I’m a gc, and this still helps a lot thanks for the video!
This truly was a great video. I've heard most of these tips before but somehow, the way you presented them made them truly sink in.
I'm a 48 year old and I love this game. Using mouse and keyboard is so difficult though so I'm going to use xbox controllers. I think this videos will set me off well. I'm always silver ish. Doesn't help that my eight and nine year of sons use my account!
Great video.
Put him on casual and not competitive
Or make other account. Its free
Btw need coaching?
I'm bored
@@THEbraylonbarnes I need coaching
This is by far one of the best tutorial out here for the low rank players🙌💙🔥💯🙏
From a champ player, awesome video dude 👍
I wish I had a video like this when I was in the lower ranks.
Would love to give it a go 😜
Actually good info in this video. I have casually watched a lot of these types of guides, but this one ACTUALLY COVERS VALUABLE INFO. Thanks man! I appreciate it!

The controls ain’t weird I have them mainly coz of my hand positioning on my controller
Bro you are so underrated this was amazing and so helpful

p.s. to all the comments asking if i actually read every single comment. this is true i do. i have no life. BUT google doesnt inform me of replies to replies. so i try to but i miss a lot of the replies.

Amazing video man! I’m a pretty new player and you made things brighter for me👏🏼 thanks a lot keep up the good content
Love your vids
This video is so high quality, most underrated rl youtuber 2020?
haha its already been blowing up so much. super grateful to all the new viewers 🙏
My frustration is I will once in a while have tm8s that whiff every time. I’m in silver 3, but that’s bronze level stuff. You should be able to hit a ball on the ground smh
Feel ya, in plat 2 i get teamm8s that cant aerial or rotate
PDG_Panos - Sonic facts
have you never whiffed a ball?
Eh whiffs happen at any rank
Doesnt change in diamond
Definitely going to try the far post goalie tactic and the boost management, the “pennies” I forget about too much
Underrated legend 👑
appreciate it :D
I started playing two weeks ago and have watched a lot of “tips” videos but this one is far and away the best. The drawings on the screenshots are particularly helpful, along with the examples of what not to do.
There's a few things I'm struggling with as a g3.
1: I'm not fast enough in the air
2: i miss lots of balls
Just don't jump. Drive under them as a fake and rotate back. Most aerials your opponents go for are probably bad and will end up just passing the ball to you
This is actually a very well made video. Definitely one of the most underrated videos ive seen
I hit Diamond in the middle of f2p Season 6. I wish I had seen this video back in Season 3 when I started. These tips are the absolute essentials that can push you into Platinum that I foolishly learned through hours and hours of gameplay. Thanks for the dribbling practice tip 👍
Thank you so much! This video helped me get from silver 3 to gold 2 in 3 days! And I’ll probably get to plat really soon!
I'm about to try it tmr I hope it works rn I'm in gold 3 what is happening to me is I'm in divison 3 right I win a game I'm now in divison 5 so I just need to win this game then Plat but I lost it so I go back to divison 3 this happend for 30 mins and I was tilted because I waisted my time I can't whait to try this out

this video literally took me from gold 1 div 3 to gold 3 div 3 in 1 day. im now obviously a new sub!
thats awesome! great work :)
I'm fully serious I went from p1 to p3 in one grinding session after watching this
thats awesome to hear! Stories like this are the best 😄
That is next level. God-tier video
i’ve only watched until the 3rd tip so far because i don’t want to take in too much information and then forget. so far the video is great, i love how you explained the first three tips! :]
Tip #9 is my personal favorite. I probably should've put it in the front haha
I got almost plat after my first 10 ranked games even tho i only played this game since its free.
Great vid for me bec it goes even in details that are not important for older players.
Btw is there a bug in solo ranked(i dont belive i should be gold)

240 hours here. But I think it’s the new divisions in GC. I went from G1 last season to D1 this season with only a little improvement in my mechanics 😂
@@eilif8962 i have something betwen 5 and 7 lol

thank you! welcome to the channel :)
those are actually huge tips
Thanks!
thank you! welcome to the channel :)
hi my name is Malcolm Mallyplayz. started playing on rocket league in early October 2019.
Thanks so much for your kind words! Join the discord and say hi some time 🙏
Came to this video with any expectations, just because I love the game and suck at it. Ended up finding super high quality content, thanks you and great job!
welcome to the channel! thanks for stopping by =)
Lesgooo this vid helped my gameplay and mechanics sooo much I'm still bronze but I'm working my way up after this vid, I've only been playing 2-3 months. Thx so much bro I really appreciate it, I'm subbing rn

Haha the first goal though. My weakness. Very good video boba!
I got rocket league like 2 years ago but never played much but have gotten more into it now that i heard it’s free and lots of people or starting to play. I’m got to gold II but was quickly demoted to silver II, so I came to this video. This was a great video thank you! :)
welcome back! and thanks :)
thx for the tips man. Got out from silver 2 and immediately and went to diamond 3. Very helpful! Keep up the work!!!
Nice work!

This channel is so underrated all of these tips are so useful when starting. I wish I had someone like you when I first started out.
Dude this helped so much Ive been having alot of ball chasing teamates down here in gold so thanks for giving tips on that!
I really appreciate your tips for gold because I'm literally stuck in division I - division III. And I sometimes even drop back to silver! Anyway I am trying my best and hope that I will get better.
Only halfway through the video and I had to stop and comment. This is one of the most simple and informative videos i've seen in a while and you even timestamped all tips incase some tips you're already comfortable with. Thanks for the vid man you deserve A LOT more subs!
Thank you so much for your kind words. Makes me so happy to know people found this helpful 🙏

And guess what i look at the channel and its the legend again, and you are growing fast now. Last I checked it was 11k and that was only a couple of days ago.
And i kinda feel bad because i feel like i should be able to recognize your voice by now haha,
Good job man keep it up, im putting on those notifications hahah
haha i think maybe i just have one of those common voices
thanks so much for joining the channel =)
AWESOME video boba, I think the only tip I would add is that at a certain point you need to learn to respect your teammates and give them space when they try to work (namely when they are dribbling ether that’s offensively or defensively)
I need some good custom training sets, on every scale. And some videos about how to do them correctly and efficiently would be great

I have a video on my channel that covers this. Check the description for a hugeee list of training packs and the video itself goes over how to approach each one =)
I started watching about a month ago and I’m already in gold. Loving the vids!

This kind of effort deserves 100k views at least. Great video, amazing information.
This comment aged very well
Really liked the tip about where to hit the ball helped me to make the push for diamond. Keep up the great vids
So I can't fake them out 😂
I’ve been stuck in gold for a while and I have have the same mechanics as my friends that r in diamond.
I couldnt understand why i couldnt get my aerials down in a match until i saw this video.
thats awesome! Im glad you found this helpful
I am gc and these were all good tips. Trying to convince my low ranked friends to wait in midfield for passes is so annoying so im glad you covered that
really appreciate all the high level players stopping by to watch.
yeah for sure a lot of my friends f2p too and kinda made this with them in mind.
You are my new favorite Rocket League RUclipsr!
It’s interesting because even in high champ there are a lot of players that could use this advice. Great video
That's awesome!! Hopefully my champ tips video can bring you to champ then 😅 good luck!

I am watching this as a champ and gotta say, great video
appreciate all the champs coming in to back me up :)
Awsome video, as a returning player from 2015 this helps a lot. One problem I seem to be having is knowing when to use ball cam and when to not use it. Ill have moments where the ball is right above my car and the angle is so awkward I cant really grab it, good video, cant wait to see more
ah. so usually that isnt a problem with ur ball cam vs car cam
thats a problem with being too close =)
cause even if its ur ball to play. u always want to fly a bit horizontal into balls. OR
the bal is flying horizontal into you. and u fly striaght up to it.
but either way.
Ofc man. Drop by the discord. Best way to find me :) sometimes youtube doesn't show replies of replies
I’m plat and I had no idea about the power slide thing I always struggled with that. Thank you so much
This may be a good tip to throw out. There are a couple pros who don't do this, but binding directional air roll buttons are extremely helpful. It's hard to get used to, but my aerials improved almost immediately!

Goalie positioning actually really helps with heatseeker also because most people sit in mid and miss aerials because of the curve of the ball
