The kickoff thing is good advice, but there's an important consideration. Missing a kickoff is much MUCH worse than driving the whole way to the kickoff. So until you get consistent at a flipping kickoff, it may be a good idea to stick with the driving kickoff til you can do the flip without missing
And with these vids i got to champ 3 with like ground/air dribling and accurate shots. Every detail in these videos are accurate. I was champ 1 like 40 days ago and i just hit champ 3 without any problem. The ones complaining that no they can do that against me ahahahaha are not serious or not focused enough. Dont just watch the video but pay attention and learn.
Are you sure it's the speedflip kickoff? When you're not experienced with speedflipping yourself, it can be easy to mistake for the diagonal flip kickoff. I've been called a smurf in gold 1s before for "speedflipping" when I just diagonal flipped into the kickoff
As an ssl, spamming redirects when I was diamond is so beneficial towards my current skill. If you’re in it for the long run then keep doing those redirects. As an SSL my redirect consistency is what I get known for in my lobbies and that is largely because when I was lower ranked I spammed redirects in game and training packs. That being said it won’t help you rank up unless you perfect them, just make your play and rotate out and you’ll get gc. And yes I’m higher ranked than Luke and have beaten pros such as Firstkiller on stream. So I know what I’m talking about
The thing is if you're doing those correctly, you should still be able to do it better than a plat. None of them are that good at it. Trust me plat and diamond fast aerials are different.
Ikr I’m in gold 2 and he thinks my rank is too easy😭 he didn’t even include it. I know some of the mechs in platinum and diamond but my opponents can be a lot better than me. I get a lot of smurfs though so maybe that’s why
i fw this list so heavy, been watching for a while and have solo queued to GC1 in 2s and nearly GC in 3s. The ground to air dribble pack is huge, and honestly the dodge control packs have been really good as well, surprisingly. I'm definitely not using them to score frequently, but being able to just get that unexpected extra touch can get so much value (This list is so close to how I learned/am learning things too)
When I hit gold 3 I saw all the smurfs flying so I started teaching myself to fly and do wall to air dribbles and air stuff. That carried me to champ 1 but took me years to get there. Now I'm a champ 1 and I have the ability to wall to air dribble from anywhere on the field with very solid accuracy. I don't have a ground game at all, so it's flying and defense from me. Now I'm here trying to learn things I should've learned in plat and diamond all because I thought Air plays were cool. I gotta learn how to half flip, ground dribble and flick, speed flip, and all of that. This video gave me a good reference as to what I should learn so thank you.
Learning air control first before starting to learn how to spin it's soooo true. I learned the basic first, only when I hit gc I decided to give a shot to air rolling, in a matter of a week with a few hours training, I was spinning and controlling it easy
Most important thing is to get game sense. If your enemy does a fast kickoff, don't copy him and make it a 50/50. Try to read where the ball will be going and bounce it back into the enemies half. You give the enemy a short planned advantage, for you to counter it - be the one in control
for backpost : the real reason is you can cover both the shot and the pass, a player can always do a shot or a pass(not always but you get it) you wont be surprised by a pass if you're on the backpost and can cover the shots near backpost

I truly believe instead of trying to teach aerial car control in a five second concept every RUclips creator should just reference the losfeld method of aerial car control. He gives a very in depth explanation and even has a series going for training air roll.
@@justinneufeld9099 I always learn these mechanics not because I wanna get better or rank up, whoever thinks that's gonna happen is dumb. I believe the game is way more fun like this and practicing the important stuff while having mechanics is just a way better experience for me.
You most certainly can get mid to high diamond without wavedash. You can do it with just decent shots, the ability to save, and rotation. I know because I have no clue what the mechanics for WD are except on a gamecube controller
I solo Q'd to diamond 3 and I don't know any of those mechanics (ending this season at Diamond 2 Div IV). The only thing I know how to do is to hit the ball when it just kicked and is going up and how to fly a little bit to hit the ball to the net and to defend. I don't even know how to air roll. I know how to dribble, but never use it.
Hey, I'm platinum 1, and I can do most things in the diamond section about 75% of the time. If you could help me rank up then please do. Also I want to 1V1 you. I just want to see if a semi-mechanical low platinum can beat a high-diamond ranked player. Please and Thank You!!! :>
Was in gold a while back. Did training for 3 days and got good at speed flip kickoffs and aerials upside down and normal. Game sense went way up amd everything got better. Being in plat for a little bit i can hit aerials and what not. Even gold 3 rn has alot of people doing aerials etc..
My biggest roadblock in ranking up is kid teamates who want to surrender the moment the other team takes the lead in the score, regardless how much time there is. Often times these were simply luck goals, it's not like how you can immediately tell when another team is that much better than yours, these are legit winnable games. At any rate, my options are to vote to surrender with them and take the instant L, or keep playing 2v3 or 1v3 and pretty much still take the L, although there's been times we were able to still pull out a win even without that third waste of space. I also struggle with teammates who just sit in the goal and never come out for any Offense at all, leaving my team in a 2v3 or 1v3 on Offense the entire match. This is by far the most infuriating thing. Juke 1st Defender, Juke 2nd Defender, get 50'd and knocked around by the last Defender but manage to get the ball popped up n front of net. As I'm flailing in the air waiting to impact the ground looking for my teammates, I can see One Teammate still just chillen in goal. Not just in the goal but deep in the back of the goal lmao and the other isn't that far in front of them, maybe at the top of the key... On our side. They have zero concept of overall team ball control. All they do is clear and turtle. 2/3rds of the time they miss the clear because they literally waited for the ball to roll past the front of the net from the corner before they decide to move but because they're sitting deep in the goal, it's too late.
My experience so far has placed these about one rank below where they actually become necessary. all the champ stuff I see in mid-diamond all the time from my opponents, and is usually why I'm not keeping up well.
I mostly play this game just to unlock skins for Fortnite and I do like the game, but I’ve gotten pretty good for a total noob and this video really really helped me see some of the mechanics. Great video for noobs.
I’m Gc2 I just Started training wall stops and speed flip catches in the air after watching RLCS the other day. I got Wall stops down but speed flip air dribbles are gonna take a lot of time for me to learn.
C3 literally doing all those up to GC3, not consistently, but they are, including me. Kinda a hard rank to get off because of the difference in playstyles.
my biggest, undoable mistake was binding boost to right bumper. The bumpers are so common for airolls, and now I can't use one of my bumpers. I can still use the left one since it isn't bound to anything yet (prob airoll left).
I think the reason why im sitting in diamond 3 with 1400 hours might be because im trying to learn stuff that i didnt even know had a named mechanic used in gc instead of just learning how to backwards aerial
I take a long brake from rocket league. But when i did play i was peak plat 2. Now im gold. And i dont bum cheek sweat. But when i did i learnt so many “ high ranked” mechanics that i can still do and rn im gold.😂
You should smurf. then you would see how far off you are for real. I peakl C1, typically stay D3. yeah if you smurf down to plat (not private) they are air dribbling and air roll shots are every shot. Your at least a rank off. everyone has gotten much better than you think. Everyone gets better at the same pace, nobody ranks up, but plat is what diamond was a year ago, and what champ was 2 years ago. Its crazy how good people have gotten. I know, i know plats are trash, but the truth is most truly bad players have just left the game, and now its crazy how good low rank lobbies really are. You will see a flip reset in plat, air dribbles in gold and accurate shots in silver it you just smurf for real.
@@justrandomuserGd They're obviously just more smurfs, the longer you play the easier it is to pick them out, no true plat could consistently pull off flip resets.
I hit champ 2 without any of this using KBM, except changing some settings like the camera. I don't know how to wave dash either, might need to practice more on the smaller and basic things to improve
i for some reson never hit a roadblock on diamond as i got out of plat i almoast imediatly hit high d2 then i took a long break and now with a proper duo i found im speeding thrue diamond 5-1 every single game its crazy😂
I am pretty decent at rocket league, the only thing holding me back to get to champ is where I live. My PC can consistently run high graphic games with 60-100 FPS and 80-120 ping. But for some reason when it comes to RL my PC shits itself and stays between 30-50 frames and 90-130 ping, and I think we all know how bad RL is on 50+ ping.
I think I’m at the point in plat where I’m borderline d1 but I cant push past plat 3, I have a couple of the mechanics he mentioned for diamond but its like they’re inconsistent 😭 especially my speed flips, it sucks but im bound to get better eventually
Sitting squarely in gold while I can do almost everything in diamond. Consistancy is my issue some games I'll have total control the entire game and others I can't center the ball ever.
Okay, so hearing you I understood everything, lit everything. Despite having a bad laptop (lit on every map on 2v2 ranked i have 20+/- fps) and being on silver 3 / gold 1 (I keep going down and up it's annoying) I know how to half flip, aerial (to the ball) and some wall plays, and still, I don't know why I am stuck at these ranks, maybe it's communication problem on lower ranks that don't read the quick chat, or even it's my problem of being stupid and learning things I should've not. But just tell my why am stuck ;-;.
Ive been plat for years and I learnt how to speed flip in gold and yes I can air dribble and flip reset and freestyle and do fast aerials and stuff but idk why some people think plat is so easy to get out of bc I play SA servers and these ppl I play are not only smart but mechanical and dont think like plats
@@Jslayer120 i also play in SA servers and the way i got out of plat was stopping to risk myself too much on harder mechanics i didn't exactly master. I got into diamond without knowing how to SCORE an aerial goal (i knew how to hit the ball in the air to defend and to some touches, but i couldn't aim it in the net). So what i did instead was mastering ground mechanics, especially my shooting. The reason using using these mechanics worked better was because most plats wants to fly up to every ball and 70% of them missed it, so i just waited and took my chance (by the way wait for them to miss at a good distance, just to make sure if he actually hits the ball, you are in good position to recover it).
They might even hit the ball in the air, but like most plats, it won't be that hard or even if it does, it won't be in the net. So must of the times it's a free ball for your side. But yes, it's really important if you could practice aerials, i wouldn't even say scoring using them, but at least learning aerials to set up a ball for your teammate or yourself, so you can create a better opportunity at scoring the goal
i don’t understand how im not out of diamond 3 because i can ceiling shot air dribble and aerial pretty consistently and if I don’t score they always get the counter attack
I love the Rizzo effect where he was an early pro and people wanted his controls and he just messed up so many people's muscle memory forever lol

The positioning thing is funny, I'm C3 and I don't know most of the "plat" mechanics. I just learned how to wave dash and half flip today.
You gotta get your prio straight man, half flips and wavedash are silver mechanics n help a lot
AS a champ who's kickoff strat is to drive to the ball... i feel attacked
This is a good one
Just downloaded rl for the first time. Definitely a cool game where the skill ceiling is pretty high and performance based. Gotta give cod a break 😂.
Not me on Plat thinking 80% is important to get me out of my rank💀
i for some reson never hit a roadblock on diamond as i got out of plat i almoast imediatly hit high d2 then i took a long break and now with a proper duo i found im speeding thrue diamond 5-1 every single game its crazy😂
mmmm spooke's getting more shredded by every video
Yo Luke, is there anywhere I can go for below diamond and below 18 years old one-on-one coaching?
"Why are you stuck in diamond?"
"Idk, how about you try playing on 500 ping the whole game 😭"
U just pointed it out, practice them more n get more consistent
Ok, I’m getting early challenged as soon as I get the ball by an opponent and my team8s as well
i started doing speedflip when i was like gold 1
Ok, I was about to ask what if people keep challenging early.. But u explained it quite well..
Oh and also, you don't need to reply to this, just read it and think about it.
everything u said for champs i can already do and i champ 1 div 4
You get your like and comment for acknowledging I'm the main character and you're Mater. Great video as always Luke
Ty for your advice
Ps4 co troller is optimal... should I use that over thr ps5 remote?
i don’t understand how im not out of diamond 3 because i can ceiling shot air dribble and aerial pretty consistently and if I don’t score they always get the counter attack
