As a mediocre old guy playing RL at Diamond 2 with like 600 hours since launch I find that taking a break of a few days usually results in me suddenly being a lot better than right before ;p Can't tell why, but it works.
I also experience this. In my case the more I play, the less I pay attention to the game, it becomes way too robotic and I start messing up because I don't think about where my teammates or enemies are, where if I leave for 3 or 4 days I suddenly start to be more aware and creative with my plays. PS: I'm diamond 3 with roughly the same hours as you, maybe it's a diamond curse or something XD
How the hell did you know exactly how everyone acts from every single rank? This man puts insane effort into these videos. Also, this seems like it would help, I haven't tried yet, but thanks in advance!
When you play in grand champ for years you see alot of consistent mistakes in each rank Of cours there is the odd man out who is just cracked at mechs but cant rotate 😂😂 happens at every rank tbh
I just realized that I am a rotational Dimond player, and I need to put more hours on mechanics. It is such a huge tip from a great content creator💪🏻💪🏻
Awesome guide, I wish i had something like this when I started out... Rocket league is an awesome game, superhard in the beginning but if all could see this wisdow from the begining it would transform solo queing to a whole different experience... keep up the good work!
Thank you for creating this video. I am in gold and I have been watching a lot of pros and I kept seeing them fake comment so I started fake commenting and it did not work. Thanks
I just got rocket league online a few days ago but I've been playing offline with unlimited boost against bots for a while now. I was really bad when I started since there was limited boost and I usually play super offensive against bots. I was at silver 1 when I watched this video a couple hours ago. As soon as I heard the defensive tips for silver 1 I went back to the game and grinded my way all the way to gold 1 now! Thank you so so so much Wayton Pilkin you earned a sub :)
The back post rotation is the one single thing that has increased my gameplay over everything else. It's so simple yet so powerful. Now to work on mechanics and not just rotations lol.
I remember I was silver a few months ago and I didn't take this game so seriously lol and now I'm diamond I take the game a bit more seriously bit still have fun lol
This helped alot because a bit over a month ago I was only sliver 3 and now I'm plat 1 and this video helped me to rank up faster than usual so thank you!
Yooo bro you are such a fantastic teacher. I just now stumbled across you but dude you explain things so well. You definitely earned my subbed thank you!
For me, if someone thinks they are way above Silver and they are stuck there, the fasted way out is to stick in goal. Save the rotating until you are at a level where you team mates know what it is. Maybe Diamond1 and above. To get good in goal play the allstar goal keeper training, repeat button if you miss, then try and do all 1 without skip, then you are a qualified goalkeeper
I got the game yesterday and took some of the tips you said for platinum, gold, and silver and it immediately made me a better player for when I play with my cousin
i hate how little info there is for improving in gc, it’s like people treat it as the god rank and to have any more goals you need coaching, thank you for not having that mindset
For me personally the best „Improvement“ was first of all finding the right camera settings with which i feel comfortable and help me out the most but for me more Importantly from i think silver or already bronce on it was finding out what my playstyle fits For me im Kinda that overagressive Ballchase type beat player but with knowing that i focused in Dribbles and how to annoy my opponents with beeing straight in their face dont givining them time for dribbles, passes or other fancy plays and kinda constantly cover them
I'm gold 3 and I've had plat 2 before (I'm more of a 2v2 person so in ranked 2s) and my goal is to get to diamond because I've never got to diamond before and its really cool for me to actually be in diamond rank. Usually when i play while I'm a gold, i almost always play with plats and diamonds (me playing with diamonds is a lot more rare than playing with plats) and almost every time I'm in plat lobby but I'm just a gold. when i try rotation, it doesn't really matter because my teammates never know how to CORRECTLY rotate. i also don't understand what MMR really is, and i don't know how its used. Thanks for the Awesome tutorial video! Keep up the great work Wayton! Love your Vids!
I’m not even kidding when I say this, I went from gold to diamond in about 3 months of figuring out the things I need to do on my own. Like rotations, positioning, boost management, and Ariel control!
i am silver and im really happy for your help;like opponent needs to score less than your team and defending;i learned few instructions of gold players and i learned more,THANK YOU !
AS SOON AS YOU START you need to: 1) change your camera settings *vids on yt for that...useually lethamyr oor squishy cam settings are a nice middle ground 2) change any keybinds to what you're used to from other games, im used to spacebar as jump and shift as boost for instance After a couple days of gameplay: 1) Learn the half flip * do a backflip, once you are upside down but parallell with the ground, use air roll to barrel roll to either side there are vids on yt if you need more help 2) continue learning your cars turn radius, i suggest...although boring...to just play with one car for longer periods of time instead of new cars every game if you want to get better Trying to get out of gold: 1) SHOT ACCURACY!!!!! use simple training packs to learn easy powershots to get the ball down field and play 1v1 but try not to ragequit although 1v1 can be infuriating...its the best way to learn challenges and stop blaming teamates. 2) stop doing aerial shit if you cant actually do it... Getting deep into plat: 1) by this time you should be more consistent on the basics, but you need to be able to aerial more confidently as well as recover faster using air roll to land on your wheels 2) if you want, you can learn how to speedflip...but ONLY USE IT TO GET AROUND THE FIELD...you wont be good enough to use it on kickoff consistently until around diamond Diiamond: 1) make sure you know a good amount of mechanics, and are strong with your fundamentals like powershots, clears, defense, aerials 2) make sure, although coming out of plat everybody specialized in different things, that you can still kinda do everything, flicks and aierial stuff...you dont need to be evample with your ground plays...but just enough to be effectiive if you are in a solo-play position Into Champ: 1) Get faster and more consistent with mechanics you learned in diamond and learn a few more while you're at it 2) Always understand that everybody makes mistakes, and you shouldnt rage quit oover an error your team8 makes, but to do your best to have a team-recovery and not let a single mistake lead to a goal. GC: 1) More speed, better recoveries, you should know all the mechanics that are used in normal gameplay by now, and consistency and speed is key 2) you should get better with double tap reads and wall stuff because that seems to be the best place to improve Into SSL: Have a friend who is around your skill level to queue up with and the only thing here should be who can make decisions faster because your mechanics should be close to perfection. Summary of RL Growth from a D2 2s main who learned resets in plat and is an amatuer freestyler today but is still kinda dogsht
Thanks alot Wayton this really helped me out in platinum and because im not good at defence or rotating the only positioning i know is kickoff positioning lol. and im stuck in plat 1 and cant get out but i played a match and realized the diference. once again, Thanks Wayton!
imo most important skill to learn in high champ or to get through grand champion is definitely redirects. learning this skill made me a way better player.. it's especially important if you play with a team
You know when I was in gold 3-2 I used to think that I would focus on both rotation and mechanics, when that day came and now I’m in platinum 1 immediately after that, I started focusing on air dribbles, flicks, and a bunch of other fancy stuff, and I came back to watch the video and realized that I was only focusing on mechanics and not rotations
a quote i learned playing sports. "winning is about the team that makes the least mistakes" capitalize on the other teams mistakes and limit your own mistakes and you will win
9:10 there is also a pretty direct path a boost pads for more boost rather than taking a long way around for a large pad. I'm a plat and I have pretty good muscle memory for collecting pads. I notice that many GCs and SSLs are very surprised by what plats do, and I do that like it's normal, I guess plats have a way lower expectation than reality.
I took a week break due to work and when I came back I was killing it also learned how to flip reset and can actually dribble and flick in-game. I'd been practicing for a few weeks with my ground game and dribbling. My in-game use of it was awful now I can flick with power and accuracy. Couldn't get the flip reset to save my life now I can get it with ease and control.. not all of them are solid but the mechanics are there. I had a hard time coming off the wall on clears and redirects and now I get to the ball more than I don't. I think a break helps because when ur grinding and learning new things and working on stuff every day your brain isn't on auto mode and the break allows you to just play without over thinking.
Rankd is broken AF in season 13.. I'm a diamond 3 and on bad weeks the game will force me down into plat and even gold due to smurfing partys. ... its crazy this season
How is your game so smooth? what are you ingame settings? like client send rate, server send rate, bandwidth limit and input buffer? also what are you graphics settings.

I was stuck in silver loosing every match but your advice really help. Definitely worth a sub.
PS: I'm diamond 3 with roughly the same hours as you, maybe it's a diamond curse or something XD
this was actually super helpful, i’ve been searching for a while for a simple and straightforward yet effective video on how to improve, so thanks
How the hell did you know exactly how everyone acts from every single rank? This man puts insane effort into these videos. Also, this seems like it would help, I haven't tried yet, but thanks in advance!
When you play in grand champ for years you see alot of consistent mistakes in each rank
Of cours there is the odd man out who is just cracked at mechs but cant rotate 😂😂 happens at every rank tbh
I just realized that I am a rotational Dimond player, and I need to put more hours on mechanics. It is such a huge tip from a great content creator💪🏻💪🏻
i just reached diamond but i agree, i always thought rotation was more important but if you see this vid it really isnt
When he talked about gold he played against bots LOL wayton you did them dirty this time😂
I felt it tho

Awesome guide, I wish i had something like this when I started out... Rocket league is an awesome game, superhard in the beginning but if all could see this wisdow from the begining it would transform solo queing to a whole different experience... keep up the good work!
Just peaked from C1 to SSL because of this video, thank you Wayton
Why did I think that this was legit for 5 seconds
Mhmm
Cap
KingKen :D no shit
Thank you for creating this video. I am in gold and I have been watching a lot of pros and I kept seeing them fake comment so I started fake commenting and it did not work. Thanks
My favourite tip I've been told is: if you don't concede you will win
100% yes about using ball cam. I never used ball cam as a bronze or silver and am now having so much trouble trying to get used to it as a plat.
Playing third man is the only way I can rank up, unless I have decent tm8s
I just got rocket league online a few days ago but I've been playing offline with unlimited boost against bots for a while now. I was really bad when I started since there was limited boost and I usually play super offensive against bots. I was at silver 1 when I watched this video a couple hours ago. As soon as I heard the defensive tips for silver 1 I went back to the game and grinded my way all the way to gold 1 now! Thank you so so so much Wayton Pilkin you earned a sub :)
8:47 he can just side flip under the ball and hit it high up to his own backboard there.
The back post rotation is the one single thing that has increased my gameplay over everything else. It's so simple yet so powerful. Now to work on mechanics and not just rotations lol.

The first time i watched this video i was in gold (free to play season 4) in the same seson i've ranked up from gold to champ 1
I'm seeing it coming...
wayton roasts platinums
I’m a silver who has a lot of knowledge of the game but is bad. The silver/gold section really helped me
I remember I was silver a few months ago and I didn't take this game so seriously lol and now I'm diamond I take the game a bit more seriously bit still have fun lol
Same. I was Bronze in January and now I'm Diamond 1.
also a big thing for champ, is to get more consistent! Helped me a lot, basically a bunch of freeplay.
“Time stamps will be in the descriptions for each rank”

im watching it to get out of champ lmao
First watched this video when I was silver, and here I am watching it again as a rotational plat who is stuck at plat 2 div 2, really helped
Big tip was settings for me,
After I changed my settings I almost went from high plat to mid diamond instantly
Who else is watching with no rank?
I’m a free to play and my friend teached me to be good and said to watch your vids , so about in 10 months I became champ

This was a really well-made video. Thanks brother, keep grinding
Dude this helped me sooooo much i tried it and made my gameplay sooo much better and easier to rank up
I just got champ 1 so I’m watching this, thanks wayton!
The best Rocket League guide i've ever seen. Thanks, bro!
This helped alot because a bit over a month ago I was only sliver 3 and now I'm plat 1 and this video helped me to rank up faster than usual so thank you!
Wow this was a really high quality video. Great job
In football matches I played in it wasn’t for the fun is was just for the goals, but for rocket league, it’s so fun finding new controls!
i hate how little info there is for improving in gc, it’s like people treat it as the god rank and to have any more goals you need coaching, thank you for not having that mindset
For me personally the best „Improvement“ was first of all finding the right camera settings with which i feel comfortable and help me out the most but for me more Importantly from i think silver or already bronce on it was finding out what my playstyle fits
For me im Kinda that overagressive Ballchase type beat player but with knowing that i focused in Dribbles and how to annoy my opponents with beeing straight in their face dont givining them time for dribbles, passes or other fancy plays and kinda constantly cover them
I'm gold 3 and I've had plat 2 before (I'm more of a 2v2 person so in ranked 2s) and my goal is to get to diamond because I've never got to diamond before and its really cool for me to actually be in diamond rank.
Thank you! I went to gold to super sonic legend in 2 days!
As a plat my play style is to let people whiff and outsmart them by watching you.
Your videos help so much thank you wayton.
We are exactly the same

Even re-watching this I learn so much! Thanks!!
i am silver and im really happy for your help;like opponent needs to score less than your team and defending;i learned few instructions of gold players and i learned more,THANK YOU !
AS SOON AS YOU START you need to:
1) change your camera settings *vids on yt for that...useually lethamyr oor squishy cam settings are a nice middle ground
2) change any keybinds to what you're used to from other games, im used to spacebar as jump and shift as boost for instance
After a couple days of gameplay:
1) Learn the half flip * do a backflip, once you are upside down but parallell with the ground, use air roll to barrel roll to either side there are vids on yt if you need more help
2) continue learning your cars turn radius, i suggest...although boring...to just play with one car for longer periods of time instead of new cars every game if you want to get better
Trying to get out of gold:
1) SHOT ACCURACY!!!!! use simple training packs to learn easy powershots to get the ball down field and play 1v1 but try not to ragequit although 1v1 can be infuriating...its the best way to learn challenges and stop blaming teamates.
2) stop doing aerial shit if you cant actually do it...
Getting deep into plat:
1) by this time you should be more consistent on the basics, but you need to be able to aerial more confidently as well as recover faster using air roll to land on your wheels
2) if you want, you can learn how to speedflip...but ONLY USE IT TO GET AROUND THE FIELD...you wont be good enough to use it on kickoff consistently until around diamond
Diiamond:
1) make sure you know a good amount of mechanics, and are strong with your fundamentals like powershots, clears, defense, aerials
2) make sure, although coming out of plat everybody specialized in different things, that you can still kinda do everything, flicks and aierial stuff...you dont need to be evample with your ground plays...but just enough to be effectiive if you are in a solo-play position
Into Champ:
1) Get faster and more consistent with mechanics you learned in diamond and learn a few more while you're at it
2) Always understand that everybody makes mistakes, and you shouldnt rage quit oover an error your team8 makes, but to do your best to have a team-recovery and not let a single mistake lead to a goal.
GC:
1) More speed, better recoveries, you should know all the mechanics that are used in normal gameplay by now, and consistency and speed is key
2) you should get better with double tap reads and wall stuff because that seems to be the best place to improve
Into SSL:
Have a friend who is around your skill level to queue up with and the only thing here should be who can make decisions faster because your mechanics should be close to perfection.
Summary of RL Growth from a D2 2s main who learned resets in plat and is an amatuer freestyler today but is still kinda dogsht
Thanks a lot I watched this last week I went from gold 3 to diamond 1 frfr
Thanks alot Wayton this really helped me out in platinum and because im not good at defence or rotating the only positioning i know is kickoff positioning lol. and im stuck in plat 1 and cant get out but i played a match and realized the diference. once again, Thanks Wayton!
I love your attitude and the way you speak, you my friend, have just gained a new subscriber
I was looking for this for soo long
Youre very good at editing, narrating, and teaching. 👌👋
Thank you
Thanks! This video helped me very much to rank up from plat 3 to diamond 2!
imo most important skill to learn in high champ or to get through grand champion is definitely redirects. learning this skill made me a way better player.. it's especially important if you play with a team
Same I started going for flicks, airdribbles and other stuff
When I get diamond I started to replay 1/5 of my games and improved my positioning immediately. Definitely the quickest way to rank up
Thank you so much,I was stuck in plat 1 for about 7 months and I finally ranked up to diamond!
a quote i learned playing sports. "winning is about the team that makes the least mistakes" capitalize on the other teams mistakes and limit your own mistakes and you will win
I'm pretty sure this was the first rocket league "coaching" video
9:10 there is also a pretty direct path a boost pads for more boost rather than taking a long way around for a large pad.
I'm a plat and I have pretty good muscle memory for collecting pads. I notice that many GCs and SSLs are very surprised by what plats do, and I do that like it's normal, I guess plats have a way lower expectation than reality.
Very helpful thanks man !
Might seem small, but for new players, change the power slide/air roll button to left bumper.
Thanks you this was very helpful this is why I love this channel
Amazing video, underated youtuber
"People can't aerial well in gold"
Everyone in gold: *airdribbling like they are gc, but my teammates like they are in bronze*
Thanks, you literally opened me a whole new world
