  • User profile service failed the logon User profile cannot be loaded
    When you try and logon to a Windows 7 or other Windows based computers like Vista, windows 8, XP or Server 2012, you receive the following error message:
    The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. you are then forced to logon to a temporary profile, or default profile.
    The problem is that Windows can't read your user profile correctly, I will show you how to resolve the issue. Just follow along, make sure you backup all your data incase somthing goes wrong, I take no responsibility if you damage or lose data.

    I'll Comment this again to help others who are also having this issue! When you pull up the profile list what if there is only 1 bak. file with your user and no other copy of it. The list just goes to 1000 (being my user) 1001(user update) 1002(user update) 1003(user update) 1004. What is the fix for this if you are not seeing a copy of your user? Again THUMBS THIS COMMENT UP FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ARE STILL LOOKING FOR A FIX!!! THANKYOU!!

      for those who have been through this problem, I've found the solution, just following the path like the video but on the next step because we only have 1 bak, do this instead...
      "Find folders opening with S-1-5 (SID key) and click on them. In the right pane, you should find the user profile. Use ProfileImagePath for it.
      Select the right SID key that you want to delete from the left pane. Just delete it, then close the window.
      Now you can reboot the computer when you have deleted the SID key and a new profile will be created by the system when you logon at the next time."

    This is amazing! I just tried turning on my 10 year old lap top that hasn't been on in about 4 years, and this error message came up.       +Rita Kelley the changes made in this video shouldnt cause this type of problem. My guess is that something else happened that deleted everything and prevented you from logging on. You can however possibly recover most of your data. Try going to someone who knows more.

    For most people F8 doesn't work so press esc when you start it up and go to Safe Mode from there

      +atlive1 think it only let's you logon a certain amount of times before it won't do it anymore, hence the bringing it back to zero

      Jo Hackett I haven't noticed that yet since I've used my desktop computer only once since then. I use my laptop for most of my stuff, but on my desktop I have memories, pictures, music etc. I may have to buy an external HD and transfer everything. did that Happened to you?

      In five years? You could have just removed the hard drive and plugged it into another computer and retrieved any data or images or anything in 2 minutes.

    Thanks so much for this video. My sister had this problem with her Windows 7 computer. Helping her, I found your video and since she lives in a different part of our city, I walked her through the video over the telephone. She made a mistake and completely deleted the bak file but was able to retype the correct file numbers and follow the last two instructions and rebooted and was amazed that her computer restarted correctly. Thanks again!!!

      click ctrl+alt+del and klick on the last option(starts taskmanager or something like that) then add a new task and write: Explorer,, and bamm!

    there is no longer issue to go into safe mode just check your internet connection wether it is connected or not and then try again

      thomasdotd i just fixed mine f8 and f12 did not work!!!!, i had to restart my computer at least 30/50 times using the restart button or buy pullin the cord out of the wall, after that i finally was taken to safe mode, ...once i was there the reg edit file would not open.. i decided the best corse of action was going to the control panel and then resetting my computer to a later date which i chose to be august.. now my computer is running fine

      For Those people using HP laptop and F8 is not working. use shift+delete ( hold press shift or press delete multiple times) and then a window appear then to boot press F8

    In both folders, the one with .bak and the other one without .bak, the RefCount file is missing. Could someone help me please ?

      TheFAaAaAaAaA you can make a new DWORD(32-bit) file and name it RefCount, then set value to 0

      Anuradha 360 means you have no error, you’re currently in safe mode so just restart your pc and log in, fixed

      Anuradha 360 when your PC starts press F12 and then press ESC and last press F8 your issue will be resolved

      If you are using amd, come out of the initial boot up menu then immediately press f8

      'Αναστασια Α.' Turn off the computer at the plug. The way I had to do it. Refused to let me into safe mode any other way.

      Slavi Stoyanov windows 7. But i go it fixed. I turned my pc off at the switch to get into safe mode when I turned on again.

      I had the same problem and realised that my F8 button wasn't working. Press F8 hard enough or connect to an external keyboard and try again. It works!
