Windows 7 User Profile Service Failed Logon FIX

- When you log on to a Windows 7-based or a Windows Vista-based computer by using a temporary profile, you receive the following error message:
The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.
Issues addressed in this tutorial:

This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops,and tablets running the Windows 10 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba,Lenovo, and Samsung).

I accidentally deleted the second .BAK😢is there any way to restore it?

Worked great, the explanation of renaming the files is a bit finicky, but it got the point across
>add .ba to the file without .bak
>delete .bak from the file that has .bak
>now the k to complete the .bak for the file that only has .ba

I was completely locked out of my Windows 7 laptop because of an extra layer of security. Though it may be helpful to go to a "restore point" as noted in the comments below, I first had to gain access to all of my files. This video helped me to do that so THANK YOU! I might add that the following, verbatim is the error message I got: "The User Profile Service service... etc., etc." Yes, there was "Service service". And all was good until Microsoft tried to update on its very own, and that is when the error occurred. So again, Thank You MDTechVideos! Unfortunately, it may be time to retire my Windows 7 laptop which, in my opinion, was the most stable, non-polluted system that Microsoft has put out to date.

hey, for me the two folders you said to swap aren't the same and none of them say bac at the end of them. Do I have to swap them anyway or do I just have to make one a backup?

I followed the instructions perfectly and wound losing 2 of my 3 profiles. I was really up set but then I remembered windows system restore and restored from 10 days ago. And that is so much easier then the procedure you described. All is well.

Glad to be of service to the community. I would consider making a backup/system image. If you are coming across a problem like this, the user profile could be corrupt.

I had to pull the plug & battery out while windows was running & then restart it because that was the only way to get to the 'safe mode' options. I have no idea where you learn this stuff but it works. I'd like to know what caused the problem in the first place?

now in 2021 and just now experiencing this issue. Does this error also compromise any of the data stored on my hard drive (documents, pictures and other stuff)? I hope you are still available to answer my questions. I am trying to remain positive in hopes that I do not have to take my computer in for tech support. thank you.
My screen is magnified so much once I enter safe mode that I can't get to the Start button to proceed with the fix. Help?

When I try and launch in safe mode it scrolls through a bunch of files but then puts me right back on the logon screen. No safe mode options are available.
I tried it twice thinking it was wrong, but when it gets past the scrolling and asks for your password put it in and it will open safe mode

I have an admin and standard account, and the standard is the one with this error. When I go into safe mode with networking, it still gives me the option to sign into both accounts, but when I press the standard account it still gives me the error. Am I supposed to sign into the admin account and do this, or am I doing something wrong?
