Thanks for both of these options. Seems like an easier hands-off approach when it is easier to do it from your desk. Then the user can reboot and they should be good to go.
This may be an old utube clip but your demeanor and explanation are perfect for me. I've been in IT for years and even though your solution did not pertain to my problem I just couldn't stop listening to you and the power shell command you pulled out did come in handy for ruling out one possible source of my problem. Thanks and I hope you continue with your easy to understand explanations, software and hardware may be complicated but it follows simple logic. I probably would not have a job if people took the time to read
Same thing here - it didn't work for me, but I gave it thumbs up anyways - the reason #1 is Vonnie's super cool voice, and the reason #2 is the fact that is should in fact be the first thing to try. I've got mine resolved the other way - it came out that the reason was a DNS related problem, where machine in question could not resolve AD properly. Once I fixed that, the problem was gone.
Vonnie... this is so cool. You go through everything one needs to know about this secure channel issue. Everything is explained in simple, clear, understandable English. This is so refreshing. Good job!
Vonnie Hudson hey I did this about 2 months ago and it worked but right now I shut down my computer and when I tried to sign in doing the (.\) it did not work please help me
Vonnie, don't know you but I came across your channel. Very well done; excellent presentation. What stands out is the reasoning and explanation behind running the commands. Great work. 👍👍👍
Hey Vonnie! Love the show, think you're cool! :) I've come across this error on wireless when a new user wants to log on and create a profile on a shared laptop. The solution was to enable single sign on so the wireless could authenticate prior to creating a profile.
let's see if that does the trick. Thanks for the video and for cutting it short in the description. I can't imagine what kind of horrors windows admins must go through every day. Our entire network is linux based... That ONE windows machine on the network auto-upgraded even though nobody told it to and now it has trouble connecting. We'll see if that will save it.
I just want to say ...... Vonnie Hudson, where in the world have you been, yes, I have missed you!!! Now it's about time you give us a video with that handsome smile of yours. I hope things are going well for you these days. Until next time, have a great day ok. :-) -Melvin - Tuesday, April 28, 2020 - 5:54 AM Mountain Time - Colorado Springs, Co
I Had similar problem , what i did was to delete the computer's account from the DC and the workstation was rejoined to the domain. It worked like magic
This really helped me understand the problem Vonnie, thanks! Both fixes generated the same error for me as you received in your video - My DC was switched on though - however it did seem to fix the issue regardless. I no longer receive the "no logon servers" error. This also seems to have played a part in resolving an SSPI Context error I was encountering when trying to connect to a SQL server on the same domain.
The GUI way to rejoin to the domain does not need two reboots. A quicker way is to just put the NETBIOS name of the domain and click OK. In your example, just delete the .local and click OK.
Hi Vonnie. I hope you can help or point me in the right direction as your video explanation is the closest I can get to hopefully resolving this. It was very helpful. This is increasingly being reported with the exact message (There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request) on a weekly basis in our environment. We had set-up a laptop 2 months ago. The user is out of the office only once a week. Yesterday he's working from and this morning could not log into his laptop with his domain credentials. It's almost that the OS ignored his local cached details. I remote onto his laptop via LMi and was able to login using our domain administrator credentials without a problem. I'm starting to think this may have something to do with a network or local GPO Setting if there is one rather than a Secure Channel issue.
The Power Shell command did not work for me. Had the remote user going over VPN. I got her on the domain the old fashioned way, logged in as Adminstrator and VPNd into the domain. Once I got the system back on the domain-I could now find it in AD-I ran the Power Shell command with the -Repair parameter as Administrator again and got a Logon Failure: unknown user name or bad password. When I ran the same command again with the -Repair parameter on my own system and got simply "True" as a response. I also am getting an RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error on any machine I have tested the nltest /SERVER command. I wish this post module could accept screen shots, but alas...
Hey Vonnie. Thanks for the video. I tried the powershell command but I get the same error you get. The weird thing is that my DC isn't turned off. Do you have any idea why I get the same response? Thanks.
Are you going for the AMSR thing? It's difficult to understand you with the current audio setup. Soothing? Sure. I could nap to this vid all day. But for the purposes of understanding how to troubleshoot an issue, it's pretty difficult to understand what you're saying.
Thank you very much Vonnie. However, I would like to understand more on why something like this would happen in the first place. I keep running into these a few times a month.
Ok, here's something a little different. I'm getting this error inside of Task Scheduler when starting PCMeter. The deal is when I set up my PC for Windows 7, I just have a user name with no password. What do I do in this case?
we can do this on remote machine? my main domain controller machine acting like that and I don't have local user password to login. what I need to do further to login the server?
Hi vist, please answer my question. I still couldnt sign in into my account, but if i do .\My username and sign in, whats the difference? Can i just use the .\ one

It doesn't work. Have the same problem you have with the command and my DC isn't off.
Hello great video. If i disconnect the Ethernet cable and log in the user having this issue. once i reconnect the cable again can I run the powershell commands from the user that is having this issue? The user has admin rights by the way.
i have the same problem with read only domain controller. if the main domain controller is off i cannot login to the read only or on other commputers connected to this domain controller (RODC ) i configured the allowed RODC group and add all users and all computers but i have the same problem (There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request) what can i do, i tested it Test-ComputerSecureChannel -Repair and nltest and still have the same problem
+Mostafa Sharaf Hi Mostafa ! Not sure if you already fixed it but in order for an user to be able to authenticate against a RODC, you must allow both user and machine user is connecting from to cache credentials and you must logon at least once still using a read/write DC so the credentials can be passed and cached on the RODC. I believe there is an alternative way where you can push the credentials from a read/write DC onto a RODC but cannot remember from heart. Remember, the steps are : add users and computers to allowed RODC, have the users log in when a write/read DC is available and from that point on you should be able to log on when read/write DC is not available.
your tip is good. as to why u are talking like you're in the bedroom with your boyfriend I don't know. Simple way is to rejoin and rejoin by only deleting .local and leave out the real domain name then reboot. Thank you
I have a computer from my public school before I got sent to another school and I still have it and when I try to log in it saids that it’s probably because I’m not a student no more in district 201 that’s why it said that it’s obseviuly that’s why
Okay girl, take a chill pill ... I didn't mean you to take it in an offensive way, I meant it all in fun ... sorry, my bad.... anyways have a great weekend! :-)
Thanks Vonnie! I love that you provide alternative methods and scenarios and that you expound on anything you mention...very thorough,
+Sista Tech Thanks sista

This didn't work for me but I still gave it a Thumbs Up for the work you did putting this together for everyone.
Gilberto Valentin oh no; did you ever figure out a fix?
I don't recall but I think I may have unjoined then rejoined.

Vonnie Hudson hey I did this about 2 months ago and it worked but right now I shut down my computer and when I tried to sign in doing the (.\) it did not work please help me
I like that you showed how to use the info pulled form the /? extension
Vonnie, don't know you but I came across your channel. Very well done; excellent presentation. What stands out is the reasoning and explanation behind running the commands. Great work. 👍👍👍
Wow you don't know how many garbage sites I went to before finding this, fantastic solutions
It's really helpful!!! Specifically for the newcomers IT person.

Thanks for the fix tips! You should consider reading audio books man!

tried the PS command and it worked ,fixed the issue without reboot, thanks a lot.
Awesome! Very detailed step-by-step, cool fix to very annoying and longtime problem
Awesome tricks man. Thank you.
For some reason windows 8 in general seems to have have the most issues with this.
Great explanation! Thank you for sharing!
Vonnie, nice explanations. Multiple fixes and how to go about them. Thanks
Hi Vonnie.
I hope you can help or point me in the right direction as your video explanation is the closest I can get to hopefully resolving this. It was very helpful.

Thanks. "./user_name" did the trick.
Omg me and my dad tried so many times to open it and I'm so glad I found ur video thank you so much 💗
Thank you so much this really helped!! I've left a like and sub, really easy to follow and just a good video

ASMR IT toturials, i love it lol
Love the video, wasn't boring and I thank you!!!
What a freaking spooky voice
Hey Vonnie. Thanks for the video.
I tried the powershell command but I get the same error you get. The weird thing is that my DC isn't turned off. Do you have any idea why I get the same response?
Thanks.
Thanks Vonnie, keep up the good work

I got the same result in Power Shell as you did....and I am in a real live domain.
lol your post is from 2 years ago but use this command enter your domain admin credits Test-ComputerSecureChannel -Repair Credential (Get-Credential)
Thank you very much Vonnie.
However, I would like to understand more on why something like this would happen in the first place. I keep running into these a few times a month.
It gets fixed when I reboot the affected machine.
Thank you very much Vonnie, Great !

thanks bro for such detailed explanation
we can do this on remote machine? my main domain controller machine acting like that and I don't have local user password to login. what I need to do further to login the server?
much appreciated bruh! it worked as well
Hi vist, please answer my question. I still couldnt sign in into my account, but if i do .\My username and sign in, whats the difference? Can i just use the .\ one
It doesn't work. Have the same problem you have with the command and my DC isn't off.
Do we need to reboot the server after running "Test-ComputerSecureChannel -Repair"?
Hi all I changed windows server 2008 R2 password but it's not updated in the local machine's. old admin password only still working any idea?
Thank you so much for the video.
I get this when using parallels desktop. I can't fix it.
Vonnie, is this the same error as "The system cannot contact a domain controller to service the authentication request. Please try again later."?
Hello great video. If i disconnect the Ethernet cable and log in the user having this issue. once i reconnect the cable again can I run the powershell commands from the user that is having this issue? The user has admin rights by the way.
