Iconic NFL QB Michael Vick graces Madden Cover 20 years later and shares how the fall from the top humbled him but the climb back was even harder on him.
Everything about quarterback Michael Vick’s game was electric. He was a human highlight-reel who made infamous plays in every game he was under center. And in 2003, he was named the cover athlete for Madden 2004. Little did EA Sports know that Vick’s legacy as a quarterback icon would face as many bumps as it did.
20 years later, Ryan, Channing and Fred sit down with legend Michael Vick to honor the anniversary of him being named to the Madden NFL cover.
Hailing from Virginia, Michael Vick always dreamt differently, thinking about a future of success from a young age. He tells the guys the difficulties of being a trailblazing quarterback at Virginia Tech, and about how being drafted to the Falcons was a blessing, even with its downsides.
Remaining close to home became detrimental for Vick, but the man who revolutionized the game had to reset himself during his time in jail. He tells a story of coach Tony Dungy’s sincere visit to him at a federal prison in Kansas, and how a meeting with Dungy, Andy Reid and Roger Goodell gave his career a second wind.
The 2010 Comeback Player of the Year truly reset his game, and life. Vick explains how he has become an animal welfare advocate while also holding football camps for kids. A young Michael Vick once had a goal of only being drafted to the NFL and he touches on how grateful he was to be named the Madden NFL 2004 cover athlete.
Ryan, Channing and Fred have played alongside and against some impactful athletes, but they talk about how Vick transcended the game with there being few comparable players ever.
The same kid who ran around the streets of Newport News, Virginia has been running around the screens of Madden users for over two decades, and despite his two-year absence from football, he will go down as one of football’s all-time stars.

These kids have no idea the impact Mike Vick had on the league and all of sports during that time!!
😊
You made sure to have your butt home sitting down if the falcons were playing on tv.
Man history history 💪🏾
Still needs to go into the HOF , if Brett Farve can steal money from the poor folks and not be stripped of his HOF title then Mike Vick should be able to go into the HOF!!! Hell Mike on TV !! Just saying
Most know him as a cheat code in NFL blitz. Playing with ATL in blitz was a B**ch move cause Vick was too good.
It makes me happy to hear Vick say that when he had zero dollars and first got out T.I wired him money instantly. And acknowledged that he had the support from the community in Atlanta. I grew up in Atlanta and I just started middle school when Vick got drafted, he was our idol...no exaggeration. He was what Deion Sanders was to our parents. To this day Vick is still 1 of the most beloved people in Atlanta. What Allen Iverson is to Philadelphia, Vick is to Atlanta . My mom told me of I got all A's she'd buy me a Vick jersey...I got all A's. We love you Mike Vick, you were the best.
Yes, theyve mentioned this before. It was 100k.
Real talk right here. I’m from Atlanta too and that Vick jersey was to us what the Rolex is to a rapper. A trophy.
@@RogerWard6 💯 it from Atlanta you know lol
Right and I mean never mind him torturing dozens of animals to death he could run fast with a ball in his hand... Y'all need better heroes
How many stones can U cast? I can't cast Any!
This episode was way past due. S/O Mick Vick game changer
Timing is everything, this interview coincides with the anniversary of him being on the cover of madden
I definitely agree, but in my mind I think that this was perfect timing!
yeah he changed the dogfighting game for real
@@shazmomin2865low blow homer why hit below the belt Vick is solid
Freddie getting the autograph 😂😂 love it
That was dope 😊❤✊🏿👍🏿
And Vick did it when they was really hitting QBs. Today they protect the QBs. He was really playing against defenders that will really hit you!
Say that louder for the ones in the back!
@@davidbrazell5179 today these QBs probably a be scared to leave the pocket if they had to go against what Vick had too. He was different, and had a canon for an arm.
Vick 🐐 easily the most dominant college football player of all time
@@jato337no he wasn't. He didn't even get the Heisman. He was great though.
@@jermo1213 I like Reggie Bush personally lol. College wise.
Fred got the autograph so smooth 🤣 “I’m gonna cut the small talk”
That was REAL!!!!! When i saw he pull out that plastic sleeve I was like noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! That was soo smooove!!!!
Hell yeah
As an ac guy , hearing these dudes talk HVAC is hilarious
Chan said he aint having it lmaooooooo
That's cool
we need shannon and sterling sharpe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Together. That would be special.
Omg, that would be DOPE
Boy u on to something
Man sayyyy that would be lit
Yo!!!! That would be super dope. All my friends back in the day wanted to be Sterling playing football
I'm 37 and was hustling grown men on Madden back in the day. It was one rule though. You couldn't use the Falcons. 😂
straight Cheat code 🤣
📠😂
I know exactly what you talkn bout🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Golden Rule
Vick was the cheat code
I love Michael Vick! Even though he lost everything, he never gave up. He humbled himself and did a 180-degree turn. Now he's on the path of enlightening the young kids. It's a good thing to learn from your mistakes. Great interview ❤
Dawg,Vick just autographed his own darn video game! 🔥🔥That's hard
RC being able to ask the toughest questions in the best way is such an amazing part of all these interviews. Amazing interviews. Top 5 favorite player of mine EVER I'm god he came on!
Please have Warrick Dunn on the Pivot
Fa sho!!!
that would be a really good episode.
Yesssssssss
Most humble human on this planet 🌏
✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
ATL Mike Vick was A different Breed!!
Proud of Vick’s growth. Continued blessings and prosperity to him and his family.
I feel that Vick would be a great mentor for an upcoming quarterback.
Mann Lamar should have him on speed dial Daily!
Imagine if Deion and Vick got to play together
Bruh….
Fiyaaahh 🔥
OMG!
Bruh……….😮😮😮
That’s a championship
Channing , Fred and Vick super fried in the beginning of this video talking bout what they keep they air on 😂😂😂😂 Ryan sober self had to bring them back on topic 😂
41:52 i love how fred switched it back to something positive. He sensed mikes energy dropping…
Fred is an OG fr. Does not say much but when he does the room is quiet (except for RCs unopportunistic interruptions at times) and he commands everyone’s ears. Reminds of my grandparents. Respect and cheers!
Freddy T just struck pure GOLD
Another legendary episode. Featuring Virginia’s Own 🦅7️⃣🦅
Mike Vick one of the greatest QBs to ever do it
Could have...
How? How are you the greatest when you don’t have then wins ( only 2 playoff wins), don’t have the accolades, ( 0 All-Pro, never finished near the MVP race), and you don’t have the stats ( even if you add passing and rushing, he never had a season of 4,000 yards, 3 seasons of over 709 yards rushing, and only one season with over total 25 touchdowns. Usually you need to have atleast 1 or 2 of the 3 ( wins, accolades, stats). Vick had none. He’s extremely popular but it’s the Hall of Fame not the Hall of very Good
Vickstory to Vicktory!!! Time of Greatness. New book my guy
You on yo something here 😂 🔥title
Vick had natural talent but he could nurture and share some major nuggets with these young men. His story will let them know how certain decisions can change their lives.
I wanna see Chan & Ryan race so bad now 💀💀💀 all of them need to line up!
You going have them pulling muscle
ion care Vick goin always be the greatest HOOD LEGEND
Mike has one of the best redemption and restitution stories in history and some people will never let go of his past.
Exactly
We are all human and have failings.
Are you a pet owner?
I am not a pet owner but I have 5 kids and it is hard to see people care more about animals than they do human lives.
This man has paid for his actions, let this man be great at being the better and best version of himself.
@@kwesijohnson It’s fine that he’s free, he did his time (not enough in my opinion). However I don’t see why he should continue to thrive based on the crimes he committed. How do we glorify someone who tortured and unalived helpless animals? If you wanna say he paid his debt to society, that’s fine. But getting a second chance to play in the NFL (which is a privilege, not a right) should have never happened. He deserves to be forgotten, not honored at every opportunity. Also, how can you place the life of a person above the life of another animal? All life is sacred.
Mike Vick is so honest 🙏
My 🐐 QB… any Mike Vick interview I’m here for ✊🏾🔥 #7
Facts he should be coaching in the league right now bc he's the guy for these type QBs today
That Michael Vick and Allen Iverson comparison was epic, for they both changed their sport forever with their unique individual talent!! 🙏🙏
Thats 03 madden when Xbox first came out will forever be legendary. He had the shoes and the commercials at the same time.
I would love to see you guys interview Barry sanders
This one is long overdue. I can’t wait see what they talk about with the G.O.A.T at least in my eyes
In my eyes also
For Dual Threat QBs yes, he is. Randall & Culpepper was before him but i'm taking Vick. Vick had a CANNON & threw with accuracy like a mf in his prime. he throws DOTS!
My goat too 🤞🏼
@@mrheishimCulpepper was a nice size guy but he wasn’t a runner
Goat 100%
I love seeing Michael in a good place. Living in Atlanta when he was our quarterback was so exciting. No other athlete has had the kind of effect on the city that he had.
I remember when he was at Tech and all of us all went to the games.... those were the days!!!
Vick fan back then and Vick fan now. Nobody is perfect but this man literally was a trendsetter for the league. Still have my Falcons 7 jersey
This man will forever, make me proud of being from Virginia.
❤❤❤my favorite player my 🐐 QB hands down him an a.i.
Va 757 native here
That dude Fred is a legend he just put me on game
Michael Vick is still the goat
Tell em Fred! Gotcha change that filer, and clean that Drain Line!
This was an amazing interview and a true redemption story!!! We still love you Mike!!!!
Hey Pivot can we get Donovan McNabb, Troy p, Bo Jackson?!?!
All good, especially Troy. Damn, money was a different breed and is super cool and funny in all his interviews. As a big fight fan, Max Holloway would be awesome. Plus the guys get a trip to the big island. Cheers!
T.I. a real one for looking out for Mike after he got out of the party😎💪
Tip a real one. I heard him say tip wired him some money. Which tip never mentioned it before. This my first time hearing of it
Michael Vick is 🔥. I met him at the Dave&Busters in Philadelphia. I was working, he was with his kids ( which he reminded me ) his first day in the city after the trade. " He could've told me leave him alone " this guy gave me his autograph, we talked about the cover of Madden " he asked me did i vote " I Did!! We talked about my home town Columbia SC. " Five Points " 😮😁 Before that day and after that day Michael Vick is 🐐!!!!!!! So much respect, down to earth ✊🏿
Vick is the culture’s QB!!!!! We all wanted to play like Mike. Amazing episode 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Big facts.
I met Vick and all the Falcons in 2003 at training camp @ Furman University bc i ran into them while walking around campus, I caught them coming out of a class room, I was 12 and just started playing football for my school... I got autographs and all and they made me love the game even more, S/O to the Falcons. I'm grown now and have season tickets. It was a dream come true.
Watching Mike go through that ordeal then was painful. I am a Steelers fan but I salute Eagles for that redemption.
Michael Vick is up there with Michael Jordan as far as his impact on the sport he played. Every kid I knew was a Vick fan growing up. Playing backyard football, whoever was qb was trying to play like Vick. Everybody had his jersey. His impact on the sport and on the culture is legendary. His maturity going through and coming out of a situation like his is a model all NFL players should follow. He always carried himself as a man.
MVick is one of the GOATS! He changed the "game" (NFL) and the culture simultaneously.
My favorite football player of all time 💯 Vick changed the game!
The comeback had to be the hardest
Favorite player of all time, showed up to this park by my house where i knew he was working out and I brought my eagles vick jersey and he signed it, i was speechless ngl. He then proceeded to have a brilliant workout l, threw every ball more than 65mph every ball was on target.
I still have the Mike Vick toddler jersey that I purchased for my son.
MY FAV QB VICK ✍🏽
Vick my favorite player of all times!!!
The Georgia dome back then was something special. The crazy thing was towards the end of his time with the Falcons the city had turned on Vick.
I"M such a fan of The Pivot Podcast! Its my Therapy. Great episode with MV#7. Shout out to RC,CC,FT, Pivot Crew. Thank You All!
Your welcome buddy! Tune in next week.
What I loved about this interview is hearing his humbleness and respect for his coaches! Youngins should learn something from this! Great interview!
I was a Mike Vick fan as a first year teacher at Ferguson High School. I was of course a huge fan of his throughout his time at Warwick and Virginia Tech. But I was even more impressed with the man that he developed into and the way that he accepted his responsibilities and showed the world that he is not only a singular football talent, but a transcendent HUMAN BEING!! Very proud of him and his entire family for enduring so much negativity with so much class. A true redemption story (for those who demonized him) and a great exemplar for those of us who never stopped rooting and praying for our native son. Mike Vick is Newport News finest and we will ALWAYS believe in and support this brother.
Dope
What a great interview. I have a new found respect for Mike Vick as a man. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to relive that every time he is interviewed.
So happy to see Vick on the Pivot, this man literally changed the game of QB play and I'm proud to see Vick still doing it and his personal growth. Salute big time on this one!
As an Eagles fan, I was so hyped when we got Vick! Shout out to Andy Reid and Jeff Lurie for taking a chance on him when it wasn't cool to do. Vick still fine as frog hair too. Damn!!!
THIS is the comment I was looking for. VICK LOOKS GOOOOOD 👀... DANG
Mike has made the most of his second chance. Every person deserves one do over most of the time.
Ronald Curry was definitely probably the best high school football player in history. Homie was different! From an 8th grader to Senior. And RC he was really that good QB Kick & punt returner and Safety. He was Vick b4 Vick in high school even though they played at the same time.
I read an article, I believe In ESPN magazine, years ago that said Curry was that dude before Vick.
Vick don't get enough credit he changed how mobile QB's is looked at
Va here 🤝🏾
*NFL 2K5 & MADDEN 04* Vick still a MAN amongst boys.
Man i love how Ryan persists to ask the important questions man
Solid interview, Mike laid it all out there for everyone. I honestly think this man learned his lesson, did his time, humbled himself and made the best of his second chance that was provided to him
Man Vick is better than every back up in the league today!!!
Everyone talks about Vicks running skills but dude had a rocket arm probably throw a deeper ball than anyone today in the league.
Michael Vick on of the best football players ever. He is definitely a legend. Great Interview.
I am so happy for Michael Vick
Vick going to the Hall of Fame!!! Absolute Game Changer and he deserves it!!!
He deserved a longer prison sentence.
@@YourExGranPappiyou've said that several times here. We heard your opinion the first time. Question, why are you here if you have so much disdain for Mr. Vick? Are you a stalker? You're secretly his fan right? Yeah I think you really like him. Why else would you be here? I pray people have shown you grace for the bad decisions you've made in your life, and yes you have made mistakes. It's a good thing God issues blessings and not mankind. Peace!
We love you Mike in Philadelphia....
Vick changed the game. Im 39 so know his play. Salute Pivot for this one.
Mannnn at 47:40 I was about to cry because you can see the pain and anguish and just realness pouring out of vick
My absolute favorite player thank you for honoring his progress and growth
Love MV! The real MVP of all time NFL
Mike looking so good! Greatness!
2 Up 2 Down! As nasty as 7 was, in high school Ronald Curry was HIM. Respect for being real and for another great episode! And Channing played faster than his 40 times 🤙🏾
Awesome interview!!! As a Saints fan, I couldn't deny the greatness that was Michael Vick. I was cheering for him in Philly.
I did 5 years n Federal Prison and like Vick said, trying to re-establish in society was much harder than the time I spent away.
bro . Mike Vicks jersey was the first real jersey i ever had. me and my brother got them for a christmas one time. and we grew up extremely poor dog. but my mama made it happen. i got the red one nd my brother got the black. i was so shitty he got the black but i’ll never forget mike having to do time bro. man idk if Vick know how much we really looked up to him. my whole hood bro. either way. y’all i love y’all channel man. i love my ppl. big salute to u brothers. much love. get Polamalu in there man. vick and polamalu my favorite players of all time. i was given #43 from pop warner up to highschool and changed it to #7. played both sides of the ball RB and CB and was used as Slot and wing a lot too because the speed. again love the channel brothers.
Vick was a monster in college and the NFL🔥 Glad to see him moving forward and growing as a man.
I’m so happy Michael Vick is doing great! Kudos to The Pivot for another great show. Michael Vick an amazing player!
My favorite QB they'll never be another Vick salute 💯💪 to the guys for this episode 🔥🔥
That’s what I said. But they swear Lamar is
@@warrior0994 Lamar is the closest thing to him but doesn't have no where near the arm strength. Lamar my guy but he ain't Vick cuz
Mike Vick on the cover of Madden 2004 is akin to Shaq being on the NBA 50 all time team. Early recognition but well deserved.
I didn't know it was illegal to fight dogs until Mike Vick got in trouble. I thought it was a normal sport, like dog racing or weight pulling competitions
You didn’t know watching innocent dogs be tortured and beat up and slammed by humans and then forced to defend for their life or else they die in the most brutual way was illegal? Lol this is what’s wrong with the world, no common sense or compassion or good use of time. Dude has so much power and money he can change the world with and spent most of his time and money hurting innocent animals. That is called animal cruelty my friend.
The whole point of fighting isn’t just fighting, it’s fighting until an animal dies. People place bets on what dog will die. Sickening.
There are more severe crimes, he said he didn't know so he didn't know...Smh I knew you were...nvm
Happy holidays
@@vittiriowashington5211 a crime is a crime it doesn’t matter the severity. Torturing a killing a living thing is a crime. Look at the photos of the dogs they rescued and tell me that was legal. This is not a race thing and that’s awful to assume that because I’m white of course I’m angry? People of all races are mad this mad did what he did & for his career back. Same thing with white nfl players who beat their wives & get to keep their jobs. A crime is a crime and you need to do the time and definitely don’t deserve to be rich and famous again when it’s all over.
@@vittiriowashington5211 he knew it was illegal that’s why he kept it a secret and hid the facility and what was happening there LOL.
Thank for this. Respect from Africa

49ers fan for life and I've always been a vick fan. I always wore # 7 in my playing days
As a Birds fan, Vick was absolutely electric to watch with d-jax
How are they not at 1M subs yet...this podcast too good
Growing up a Falcons fan and experiencing the “Michael Vick Experience” it was an awesome time in Atlanta
I love Vick! What a high character man.
My all time favorite athlete he's the reason I became an ATL Falcons fan 👑✨️🔥
Hey Mike what about Charlie Ward
I started my first year ever at QB in 7th grade his first year starting at va tech …he showed me it was ok to be a running QB ..he’s one of my favorite players and I literally cried when he got sentenced to prison..he was like a big brother to me in my head 😂😂😂😂
Mr Vick is a reallll one. respect!!!
