Ed Reed, Hall of Fame career, family, loss, coaching & Ravens return to Super Bowl?
Super Bowl Champion Ed Reed, a nine-time Pro Bowler, six-time All-Pro, the 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year and NFL Hall of Famer, shares with Ryan, Channing and Fred, that despite all his top accomplishments, football is not about the individual, but about team and how that mentality shaped his life.
Growing up in Louisiana, Ed shares a similar football path to Ryan and he talks how most people don’t make it out of where and how he grew up so he never took his opportunities for granted and kept his focus on football and leading by example. Looked up to man greats who he watched play before him and how Deion Sanders was instrumental to him to see how hard he worked and committed he was at all stages of his career.
Many view Reed as the greatest safety of all time, but his journey off the field is spotlighted during this episode as he opens up and shares how certain moments tested him as a man and how football became the greatest medicine to pain. After the loss of his brother, Ed reflected on how important lessons are in life, especially when it comes to being able to help others.
Discussing certain coping mechanisms of life stress and pain associated with playing the game, Ed talks about drug use being frowned upon during his era vs now as it seems it’s more accepted but more abused. Fred asks Ed if he would be the same player in the game today with all the rule changes to a quick response of yes and may be even better.
As the guys reminisce of their playing days, Ed says how facing each of them in AFC battles forced him to work harder as He knew games against the Steelers and Dolphins would always come down to which defense could make a stop.
Reed’s journey is not just about who he became, but the people he worked alongside. In discussing his biggest pivot, he points to how training with a key group of teammates helped keep him on the path to greatness and fully understand the sacrifice that comes with being the best.
While speaking about his Super Bowl run and Hall of Fame induction, Ed praises his coaches and teammates who helped him reach where he is today. He even reveals how he tried to give up his Hall of Fame spot to someone he looked up to who wasn’t in Canton yet.
Reed has played on legendary teams, but the 2000 Miami Hurricanes may go down as the one he points to as top tier and confidently says the group was the best squad and could beat any college team ever, Channing talks about what made The U so special and become known for the game’s top talent.
Before wrapping, Ryan asks his thoughts about the current Ravens team and if they are Super Bowl bound, Reed sees something special in Lamar Jackson but says it will take a whole team and city effort to win the Lombardi Trophy.
New episodes drop on Tuesdays at 12 p.m. ET and Fridays at 3:30 p.m ET on RUclips, with audio available on all streaming platforms.

These 2 Louisiana Homeboy's Genuinely have the Upmost Respect for each other. Ryan says: Ed is the Best. Ed says Troy was the Best. Ryan and the boys say: Peyton and Tom Brady, Ed Reed says: Can't forget about Big Ben Roethlisberger. Mad respect from 2 guys who played each other 2 times every season and Won Super Bowls from the same AFCN Division while they played. Awesome Podcast!

It’s starting to bother me how often Ryan asks the emotional questions to get a reaction. In every pod, he asks about a death, abandonment, or general bad situation to elicit a response. I’m glad Ed didn’t give it to him this time

As fans man there are games that you just realize you're watching something iconic. As a Steelers fan I feel privileged to have watched the battles Ed and the Ravens had with the Steelers. Everyone gets wrapped up in everything else and I don't think we truly realize how special the talent we watch is.

My man has fully embraced the Uncle Ed look, and I'm here for it.
Best to ever do it. He would have been a hall of famer even if he were two steps slower. That'd how smart of a player he was. The fact that he could cover ground like he did while also knowing EXACTLY where to be was just unfair.

Phenomenal interview. Ed Reed is the pinnacle of everything great about this game. I would love if you all got Frank Gore on here! His son is getting ready for the draft and he is currently w/ the 49er front office - I'm sure he'd have great perspectives on things both on and off the field.

I love reading the comments section after these dope interviews. I literally hung off of every single word Reed spoke. Like someone said on here already, like an uncle dropping gems. He remembers everything so vividly in his mind. You heard him, he was ALWAYS about TEAM, even though he was the elite true dawg on his teams. This man was willing to give up his HOF spot to Steve Atwater because he looked up to him. True class man!
