    This show hits a little differently with us as Chad is someone who was our first guest we had on The Pivot when we started but more than that, he’s our brother, friend and a supporter since day one. Chad has walked the path with us first on the field through the wins and losses of football and then life after as we experienced the highs & lows and have all been tested at our peeks as humans. This conversation covers growth, family, careers and how things work out the way they are supposed to be even when they seem to be off track at first.
    The vulnerability and raw emotion shares between Chad, Fred, Ryan and Channing resonates with us all as the men talk about how life humbles them when they least expect it and how the success they achieve now is often tested with more freedom and opportunities. The guys commend Chad that through his career and life he’s managed to uphold a positive persona and be one of the most liked people in sports.
    Ryan starts the conversation bringing up the recent Keith Lee situation and how the first time he saw the majority of folks mad at Chad and the guys get into the story as Chad explains his perspective and why he said and felt what he did. Chad understands how difficult it is for men and women of culture to succeed and how any little thing can knock them down to a point where some can’t recover and he always tries to come from a place of building up not tearing down.
    Talking about new age of coaching with Antonio Pierce’s role with the Raiders and how the post locker room celebrations shocked some, the guys discuss it was more about the team bond and fresh start than the actuality of winning a game. Switching over to talk about Deion and how the hype has slowly quieted as Colorado has not been winning and so many people are quick to call Deion a failure and the guys discuss why he could never been considered one and the impact he’s making with young people far surpasses his persona on and off the field.
    Chad opens up about how he had to lose the things he loved most in order to understand he may be moving the wrong way and that when the train falls off the track it’s a humbling process but a necessary one. Having football end before Chad was ready to hang up his cleats has always been a tough point in his life but he attributes the events surrounding that time as his biggest teaching moment to get discipline back in his life.
    Fred talks about losing loved ones and reflects on Chad losing his mom and how the recent passing of his grandma has impacted him as well. Premiere Episodes of The Pivot release every Tuesday at Noon est with special football drops on Fridays at 3:30p est!
    Don’t forget- Check it out now and catch NFL Sunday Ticket now on RUclips TV! Starting at $174 for the rest of the '23 season on RUclips TV with Base Plan. 50% off compared to full season price. Terms & embargoes apply. No cancellations. yt.be/aj5jr

      May your memories of your cherished mother surround you and lend you strength in the days to come. I’ll never forget the morning when I woke up and my father’s death wasn’t the first thing I thought of. Seconds later I realized that but the sense of peace and healing those few seconds gave me let me know that I was moving on to a new way of thinking about losing him. It’s been 54 years now since he died. I look back sometimes and think about those earlier days when I thought the pain would never become gentler. And what I believe is that in your own good time things will ease for you. But I also believe that there’s value in feeling the sharpness and the questions that come with the early days of grief.
      As you so wisely said, learning to pivot is so powerful. Please remember to take great good care of yourself as you walk these first steps on this new part of your path.

    Great interview guys, I wanted to touch on what Chad was talking about earlier. Not only the NFL, but NBA, MLB etc… will sit your tail down if they feel you taking away from the game. Once they get you out you staying out. Pete Rose will never get in the baseball hall in fame. Antonio Brown will never play again & the list goes on & on. I heard Jimmy Johnson say if I was a NFL team I wouldn’t touch him & they haven’t sense. Referring to AB. Being humble is everything being discipline, self aware is good, but that all comes with time & growth. Chad when you said they sat your ass down for 5 or 6 years & hit you in the pocket they were sending a message. Everyone has to learn at their own pace. I get the apprehension about Keith Lee's reviews, but the reason he has such a following bc he is genuine. He doesn't talk greasy about the spot like other food reviewers and simply says "Its not to his liking" and STILL says he advises you to try it because your experiences may be different than his. He has WAY more positive content compared to negative and his negative is just him giving his opinions on how to make their food or service better. The bad part comes from the restaurant talking bad about Keith Lee afterwards. Great episode like always.

    Great show with Ocho! Only one thing I disagreed with was with Belichick. He didn’t become stern because the outside world allowed him to….He was always coaching in a stern manner, even when he was a coordinator for Parcells (Lawrence Taylor words). Also, I agree with this point…Brady didn’t make the Patriot way. Troy Brown, Willie McGinnist, Tedy Bruschi were all there before and bought in to the system, and it takes a great (maybe even the greatest) coach to move on from a QB who just got a 100 million dollar contract to a second year QB from Michigan who was a sixth round pick. The Patriot way worked because both players and coaches bought in, in combination with the ability that these future HOF players had. So there’s no point of debating was it more Brady or Belichick…it took both.

    Ryan, I think your idea is cool, but black owned businesses have to be critiqued as well. We can't hide in the shadows, customer service needs to be addressed, it is the foundation of business. Things don't change because we no longer can handle the pressure of the critique (even in our families); it too, is systemic because of all the centuries of having to be perfect and being criticized even when we were out performing in every area. We don't like to be told what to do and how to do it by anyone. But we need that, especially coming from one of us. Our businesses take for granted our patronage. And that is not just for us, but it is systemic in the customer service industry across the board. Starting my career in customer service at the ends of "the customer is always right" era businesses began to not care about the customer and that has trickled down and spread like a cancer. The customer keeps a business alive and the business needs to know that. Businesses will change everything but the way they treat their customers to save a business, that will still ultimately fail because they never changed the culture. What they are learning about the consumer is that we will still purchase and buy no matter how they treat us. Part of the black experience in the South has become a joke about how good the food is but that the bad service comes with it, at black restaurants. Even nationally known Popeyes, people joke that, although it isn't black owned, it's for us and we expect bad service. Excellence used to be our foundation. Excellence should STILL be the foundation. Let us critique and not patronize ANY business that tolerates bad service. Keith Lee could talk to them on the side and not share that information with other consumers, but what benefit would that have for the business or the consumer if they know he won't share that information? He is looking out for the consumer. The reason why we will patronize white businesses even when the service is bad towards us, is because that has been our expectation, that is how historically we've been treated. That's also not okay, but that's some of the truth behind it. We don't want to pay to be mistreated by our own. And at the same time black consumers should not feel more comfortable mistreating black employees because they aren't white. It is a very complex issue but as it is said, the truth will set you free. Fix the issue, don't enable it. Hopefully instead of shutting Keith Lee down, we support this cultural phenomenon and use it as an opportunity to grow and get our house in order so it's beyond reproach.

    Excellence doesn’t have a color. Either you have good service or you don’t. Supporting a business just because the owner is a certain color creates entitlement.

    yall are speaking from a point of the owner what about the people that spend their hard own money at these place to have a horrible experience? why do you think people look at reviews of places because if you go somewhere you want the best yall sound crazy if he goes to LA and reviews a restaurant and its trAsh and i want to go to look at the reviews and other people say the same thing its double the confirmation

  • @c4dsince78
    @c4dsince78 10 месяцев назад +5

    Keith Lee appeals to foodies, ppl planning to visit ATL, common black ppl, and casual followers of black people and culture. People want his honest assessment of an establishment so that they can spend their time and money wisely. So, those are the people he is accountable to, because they support him. The businesses he reviews don't keep him paid or relevant. Those establishments are accountable to their patrons - THE COMMON PATRON - not a celebrity. Why? Because celebrities are treated as special, and their experience will often be far different than that of - THE COMMON PATRON.
    So, black businesses need to commit to providing their supporters aka customers with the absolute best experience possible. If they do that, they don't need an endorsement from Keith Lee or fear a negative review, because their customers are fully satisfied and happy.

    They are missing the point with Keith Lee. A lot of these restaurants beg him to come and give his honest opinion. He gives it and they get mad. He never says to not go the restaurant. He encourages his following to still go and try it for themselves.
    Our (✊🏾) restaurants and business in general will improve if we learn how to receive the critique, make changes and recover quickly. It will make the business that much better.
